Pleasantly impressed by the the food quality and prices. Limited menu but enough to find something. But it was the quality of the food/ price that made this a great meal. Simplistic…bread and butter, meat and potatoes kinda place. Filled up fast on a Saturday...night so RSVP!More
My son and I went for breakfast on a Saturday morning in between his midterms at the University of Alberta, before 10AM. Parking was a bit of a challenge, but I was able to get one of the stalls in the lot just to the...south of the restaurant and put my license plate into the registry upon entering the restaurant. We got the last two-top and were seated promptly. The restaurant was at capacity, and the staff were friendly but busy! Our breakfasts were good (pancakes and huevos rancheros). The coffees and OJ was also just fine. The prices for our breakfasts were pretty average for these days, in the $15-18 range. Overall, an easy place to go if you're in the University area.More
Went for lunch with several other The service was good , nice location, free parking. The fries that came with the meal were the worst fries ever. The waitress replaced them. I cant imagine a good cook sending out such rancid fries
100$ parking ticket, I'm at fault but that's rediculous. The manager declined responsibility but they subscribe to it!
The food just isn’t the same as it used to be. Everything was just ‘okay’. Happy that they offer gluten free and vegetarian options. I rarely find GF onion rings so that is a nice treat to have.
It was nothing similar to my past experienc here. This used to be my best to go dinner in Edmonton. The sandwich was too salty and the fries. It looks like it got a new management.
Great place for breakfast. And what a cute looking restaurant. Food was great. Will definitely go again.
Not too many places with an open air patio perfectly in the shade for dinner. The menu is wide reaching and from what I saw between myself and the kids and wife - it's all delicious comfort food. My souvlaki platter was amazing and enormous....My kids had fish and chips (enormous piece of beautiful cod) and Guinness Shepard's pie... My wife had the chicken fajitas and they came pre assembled and utterly flavorful... A perfect idealistic dream of a fajita with perfect amounts of green onion cilantro and spice. It was a real treat. It's rare I bother to write a review since I utterly hate social media and the internet in it's entirety... But this was really good.More
In the university district, the High Level Diner is a must for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Foods from childhood in a homey setting, makes this a must! Everything is tasty and the famous cinnamon buns are a must (for sharing).
I want to give this old haunt a better review, but it just keeps hitting bloop singles instead of the triples and home runs it used to. The food is good, sometimes even really good, but service remains spotty or (like today) just way way...too slow. Only 15 tables in this old place. C'mon... get it together. Those of us who've loved this place for decades are choosing it less and less, and wishing it wasn't so.More
Very popular diner whose accolades are well deserved. Very friendly service and the food comes out very promptly. Food is very tasty and if you want a cinnamon bun, get there early . Great place.
Went for breakfast and it was yummy. The environment is outdated but it’s awesome. Love this street and area of town. Would love to come back for a lunch and dinner!
Stopped here for breakfast with our family for Thanksgiving breakfast before we all went our ways. We were seated at 2 separate tables when we arrived due to covid rules. When waitress took our table of 3 order first and then proceeded to take another...tables order after instead of our adjoining table. We had received our food 10 mins to 15 mins before our other party even got there's and were finished eating. This kind of was poorly managed and she was very aware our tables were together. The food was average at best. The homemade ketchup is very acidic if you like this. Breakfast hashbrowns were fairly dried out as was the toast.. The cinnamon bun that I ordered to go was pretty good. I am sure I will be heating it up a bit and putting some butter on it when I arrive back home. Nothing special in this restaurant and would not eat here again.More
I've always loved the HLD - local, organic, delicious food and fabulous staff - so I was excited when I received an email saying they were open for takeout during this pandemic. Not only are they open for takeout, they've also created a additional special..."Hygge menu" with options for purchasing family size portions! We bought homemade borscht, cinnamon buns, Gluten-free Tourtiere and several other items to share with others isolated during this time. The food was incredibly delicious and very reasonably priced! Staff was friendly and so helpful - my order was packaged when I arrived and they helped carry it all out to my vehicle- in spite of the fresh, heavy snow that had just fallen!More
