Our favourite place to grab a bite and relax on our trip. In campus area, close to our hotel, Campus Towers. Great service, try the breakfast sandwich !

We moved to the greater Edmonton area in summer 2021 and my spouse and I love to head into town for a nice Sunday brunch. We tried the place next door last August, and today it was the Sugar Bowl. We found paid parking nearby...and put our name on the waiting list. Next door is a bakery and we waited there, enjoying a coffee and croissant. Sooner than expected we got a call and were quickly seated at the Sugar Bowl. This is a typical noisy joint on a Sunday morning, with every table full and lots of energy and conversation. Atmosphere is a bit hipster ... brick walls, bar, hardwood floors, hardwood tables, exposed ceiling with ductwork. An old building, tastefully placed into contemporary service. We were quickly greeted by our server and given water and the opportunity to order coffee. Menu was on our phones via QR code and I think there's a nice, varied brunch menu. My spouse selected the Huevos Rancheros and I splurged on the pulled pork hash. It took a while for my cup of decaf to arrive ... apparently they were brewing a new pot? Breakfast came quite fast and was just like the picture on the menu. My spouse didn't really like the Huevos Rancheros very much. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly, but there's a large bed of beans on a single tortilla and she felt it was just overwhelmed by the beans. My bowl of hash was large and hot. The sunny-side-up eggs could have been cooked a little more, as could the hash. I found the mix of flavours to be a bit chaotic ... the onions and peppers in the hash could have been cooked more, the potatoes underneath were fine, but the pulled pork to me had a sweet, bottled barbecue-sauce sort of flavour. Portions were good (the hash was large) and food was hot. But in the end, especially for the price of the hash, I'd rank the meal as average at best. FWIW ... there's a chalkboard by the bar that has "happy hour" prices for draft beer. Those prices look very good, and I think while we won't be back for Sunday brunch, we'll try the place out for an evening meal.More

Three of us ate here today and we all really enjoyed our meals. Portions were great and the food tasty. They also have a good beer selection. This was our first time, but we will certainly go back. I had the pulled pork hash and...highly recommend it. Our waiter was fantastic. Always there when we needed him, but never hovering over us.More

Came to Edmonton to visit friends and they suggested Sugar Bowl. We arrived about a half hour after it opened and it was already really busy but we were able to get a table quickly. The Cinnamon buns are a MUST, they are HUGE and...really good. We all ordered different menu items and we all enjoyed our meals and the staff was really great and accommodating.More

We came here for a nice Sunday morning breakfast. We showed up about 10 mins before opening, and were glad as a line-up quickly formed. We had the sugar griddle, omelette, and sugarbowl benny. We split a cinnamon bun between the three of us as...they are massive! Everything was cooked perfectly.More

Chicken and waffles was bland with watermelon pieces rather than watermelon salsa. I'd order it again but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Great location, university crowd hang here and locals I sure wish I had more reason to go back more often ... I had a burger with fries and couple beers Total 32.55 Fries were sooo average, (McDonalds does better) pattie was good but skimpy on...the lettuce and tomatoes! Average bun! Whenever I am disappointed in a meal I think about the groceries I could have got! Isn’t the whole reason we eat out is so we can enjoy someone’s food who can do better job than we could 😏More

We have lived in Edmonton since 1990 but this is our first time visiting Sugar Bowl, which is a favorite eatery of young adults and couples in the Garneau neighborhood of Edmonton. We had waffle & fried chicken and lamb burger. The food came with...huge portion and did not disappoint. Sugar Bowl's owner also operates the French bakery, Eleanor & Laurent, next door and the French bistro, La Petite Iza, upstairs. All three are worth a visit, highly recommended.More

There is minimal options for a vegan. This is a quaint little place often filled with students but also has people of all ages. It is drafty and cold in really cold weather but the staff are kind and considerate. They moved us to a...warmer spot. We went there for a late dinner on a Saturday evening because we like the energy and the service. The wine was great and my husband loves the selection of beer.More

Atmosphere: 4/5 – Modern & rustic. Dimly lit. Seat spacing is a little bit tight. Price: $$$/5 – Average pricing for restaurant food. A few very pricey beverages. Customer Service: 4/5 – Servers were very polite. Service speed was slightly slower than average. Location: 4/5...– Amazing location for university students; not so much for others. It is close to the river valley, high level bridge, and Whyte Ave which is very nice. Unfortunately, it is not easy to find parking nearby, especially free parking. Taste: 5/5 – Very tasty food and alcoholic beverages. Menu: 4/5 – Food menu is average size with not that many unique items. Beverage menu is very large with many unique items. Sustainability: 1/5 – Couldn’t find info on ingredient sourcing. No advertised sustainable initiatives. Strengths – Very flavourful food & drinks. Weaknesses – No sustainable initiatives. Good items to buy: Pulled pork, Chicken & waffles, Leffe Blonde. Summary: 3.7/5 - Overall, I would recommend stopping by Sugarbowl, especially if you are into the booze. They have outstandingly beverages and great food. Their food menu is a little small, but their drink menu is very large. There is the occasional unique food item on special but for the most part the food menu has pretty common items. I love their pulled pork sandwich. The atmosphere is nice, but the seating is a little cramped, especially when it is busy. The one area I think they could improve in most is by creating some sustainable initiatives. Thank you for taking the time to read my review and I hope it helps you!! 😊More
