Walked here and back from the west coast to see some of the non-tourist area. Asked for a recommendation, and got Camarones Veracruz. The shrimp were larger than any of the others I've had on the island, but about the same quality (all shrimp on...Cozumel are very good). Sauce and vegetables were spiced differently than I expected and I would not have guessed this is a Mexican dish, although I've never been to Vera Cruz, maybe more of a Spanish dish. Something about the vegetables here were different and better, almost like home grown. Overall, one of the best, maybe the best, dish I had on Cozumel.More

We have been coming to El Moro for years. It is our favorite restaurant for many reasons. The Soupa de Lima is the best on the island and today I found a new favorite. Swaziland enchiladas. Might have to go for a third time this...week. Also you can’t beat the friendly service. They make you feel like old friends.More

The drinks, the food, the service...all amazing! Our server knew the menu inside and out and could perfectly tailor a selection to what you were in the mood for. Highly recommended!

This is one of Cozumel's best kept secrets as this is not your average ocean view restaurant. Secluded in town el Moro features great Mayan cuisine and their enchiladas are the best i've ever had! I totally recommend it

We love El Moro and returned on our most recent trip to Cozumel. Introduced friends traveling with us and they also enjoyed their meals. Our favorite appetizer is the nachos. They cook beans, cheese and nachos and it is delicious! No soggy chips here, however...they prepare them, it works for us. The four of us had a variety of meals from fajitas, fish, and shrimp and all were very good. Flan and ice cream for dessert topped off the night. Take a taxi for easy drop off and the family will call a taxi when you are ready to leave. They are closed on Thursdays so plan accordingly. We will return many times in the future I am sure.More

Love the Cuban Steak, the guacamole, plantains, and cold beer. Always a great place for a large party or just for a couple. A bit noisy and active but a great vibe and exceptionally friendly and attentive staff. In a very unassuming neighborhood where you...will find many locals and tourists together enjoying very good food. If you are looking for a foo-foo Americanized experience, please stay away - this place is not for you.More

Excellent restaurant, this is one of our favorite spots in Cozumel when it comes to Mayan and mexican cuisine. Their Mole enchiladas are something else. Little gem in downtownown.

What a GREAT RESTURANT. Can't decide what to order... Just get Ray to tell you about the specials. The way he describes them will makes them all sound AMAZING! It was so good we went there 3 times in the week we were there. Ray...meets you at the door like you are his family and by the end of the week we were. The first night I had the Sea Bass which was WONDERFUL, most everyone got one of the specials! And Great drinks also :) Second night 3 of us had the Especial Zacaria (I think) which was basically a sample plater. The last night we went we carried him Mahi we had caught on a fishing trip and he cooked it 3 different ways for us. EVERYTHING tasted GREAT. We will have to go back and try some different dishes. Take the extra time to find Restaurant El Moro many taxi drivers will tell you it's closed SO INSIST!!! My only disappointment was I wanted to try the Flan but they were out that day. The coconut Ice Cream was a nice replacement.More

my friends who own a home in cozumel recommended this restaurant. It was BY FAR the bet food we had in cozumel. The staff seemed genuinely happy to see us, the fish ceviche was out of this world. a little off the beaten track, makes...it even more appealing. we ended up going there for dinner twice in 5 days.More

Sorry, we ahve never run into that problem. Since restaurant is in an out of the way location it is a good idea to call and check hours. Sorry for inconvenience.
