One of the best restaurants on the island. Authentic cuisine combined with great service. Absolutely amazing food for a reasonable price. You won’t be disappointed!

We always eat at El Moro while on the island. Family works throughout the restaurant and we have seen the same faces for years. Casual atmosphere way back in the neighborhood. Best to take a taxi to make sure you can find it, plus parking...is limited. We kick off every meal there with the nachos plate, which I crave when not on the island. Every entree we have ordered has been good, along with the drinks. And we love their ice cream to end the meal. We made a pact during this trip to try different restaurants for every meal but did end up returning to El Moro after an afternoon spent at Buccanos Beach Club, where we felt like we grazed all day. We needed a bit to eat but not a lot. Well, off to El Moro late evening for a second visit. We enjoyed another plate of nachos, delicious lime soup loaded with chicken and tortilla strips, and then ice cream again. I can’t explain our love for this restaurant but just know we always feel really good as we are leaving, while also being a bit sad that it will most likely be a long time until we can eat there again.More
First day back on the island and we took our friends to our favorite eating place. This truly is a family eatery and we are treated like family It is not fancy but the food is fresh and delicious. The portions are generous and the...service is excellent. One of our friends teaches culinary and tourism and she was impressed by everything. If you are looking for a great meal and a friendly atmosphere this is it we will be going back.More
I ate here years ago, and remember it fondly. This visit was not the same. They offer no frills mexican fare. It is adequate, but not exceptional. My beef is with the waiter who felt the need to keep the change from my bill. That...was about 33% of the total. I had to hassle with the manager to get my change back. You don't need to be robbed by waitstaff when you are on vacation. Do yourself a favor...eat somewhere else.More
This restaurant was recommended by friends and it did not disappoint. Great food, great drinks, great staff. Will be back next time in Cozumel
Best kept traditional Mexican restaurants. Excellent sauces and quality services. Fresh seafoods and salads. Very reasonable price. Well worth the visit.
I was in Cozumel with diving buddies from 11/3-8/22. Our resort included breakfast and lunch but we needed to eat good dinners. We ate here last Sat night and on Mon evening before we went home. I had the fresh fish ceviche the first time....So delicious, it is a shareable appetizer but it was my meal. Then we came back and I had the fish special with garlic and so many delicious flavors served in foil. I will bring my family back. It was that good! Take a cab it is worth the hike.More
Looking for someplace to eat that was local and not touristy, our cab driver suggested El Moro. It was a little out of the tourist zone, so the prices were exceptionally reasonable. The food however was fantastic! And making the experience so much better was...the owner, his family and staff. They made you feel like old friends. This place is going to be on the top of my list every time i return to Cozumel.More
Excellent food at incredible price. Not fancy/extremely casual but this is always the best meal I have each trip! Staff is very friendly.
El Moro was excellent. Cant say enough great things. The enchiladas with Mole was phenomenal. Other dishes were the shrimp fajitas, nachos, refried beans con quest, quesadillas and fish empapelado Moro. Service was excellent. We were treated very well and the staff was great. Wish...we came here more than one time during our trip.More
We had heard from other divers that El Moro was well-loved. It did not disappoint. This is an authentic, family owned and run restaurant. They have a diverse menu, large portions, amazing food, and good prices. Wonderful, friendly service.
We always eat at this restaurant when we visit the island. The food is delicious and the service is attentive.
It was very delicious food with a family atmosphere. They were very accommodating. I had the meat Tampico which came with two mole negro enchiladas. It was excellent. My wife had the fresh fish and loved it. It’s a must.
Recommended on our first visit to Cozumel by hotel staff, this is a gem located just far enough from the cruise port that you know you’re eating at a local restaurant. It was the first restaurant we visited on our second trip back to the...island, and El Moro was just as good as I remembered. The owner’s smile is infectious, his hospitality is unmatched. And the food…traditional Mayan with amazing flavors and generous portions. I highly recommend anything with steak and if you love plantains (and I do!) they are like no place else. Caramelized goodness! Be sure to end dinner with a shot of Xtabentún. Like many places on the island, they prefer no credit cards, so grab your cash.More
We has lunch here before and still no regrets. Everyone is so friendly and helpful but their food is something else..just amazing! My only complaint is that there is no parking place but is not their fault. This is definitely a must if you are...visiting Cozumel.More
