If you are at any of the Royal Resorts in Cancun, we recommend setting aside an evening for an upscale dinner at El Conquistador at the Royal Islander. Your concierge can make your reservation. Live music - guitarist - some nights. We had a four...course meal with wine and thought the bill was very reasonable. Impeccable service, wonderful menu selections, beautifully plated. nice, sort of retro, low light ambiance. All covid precautions observed. paperless menus available, but we don't have smartphone so physical menu available. We both had tomato soup with feta cheese, so creamy it hardly looked tomato- delicious. I had seafood stuffed portobellos and my husband had the wild mushroom saute. Main course was a ribeye steak with cracked marrowbone and ‘aiglot’ (can’t find the word now – it was mash potatoes mixed with several types of cheese – again, very tasty) ; and the herb crusted rack of lamb with slivered beets and beet juice infused mashed potatoes. Went 'light' on dessert - coconut and chocolate ice creams; espresso.More

The added perk here is musician, Jorge Duran. We've the Caesar Salad made at table. The Pork Chop is amazing.

This was our first time dining at El Conquistador and the occasion was my birthday. We ordered the Filet Mignon in brandy and black pepper sauce and the Tequila Shrimp. These entries were absolutely perfect and I could not have been more pleased!

My husband and I have dined here several times recently and were given spectacular service by our waiter, Angel. He suggested the special tastes of Mexico offering for my meal. It consisted of delicious bites that showcased the many flavors of Mexico with an upscale...twist. I really enjoyed it.More

We are staying at the Royal Sands for a couple of weeks and have eaten dinner a few nights at El Conquistador. Our waiters have been Yimy on some nights and Leonel on other nights. Both have given exceptional service and have remembered our names...and preferences for wine and other offerings. They both have suggested dishes that they thought we would enjoy. The chef, Horacio also came to our table to make sure that we enjoyed our meal. Francisco, the waiters helper, was efficient and friendly as well. We love both the food and service and would highly recommend this restaurant.More

Back to our favorite restaurant. We had a Cowboy steak, Filet Minion, bananas Foster and Mayan coffee. Excellent. Service by Lionel and Yimy superb. Can’t wait to go back again on Sunday.

We had the opportunity to enjoy dinner on three separate occasions. Each time the service was impeccable. The food was outstanding. Servers Lionel and Angel made it special. My wife loved the Lamb Chops. Leave room for the dessert as it is amazing. We look...forward to our next visit as El Conquistador will definitely be on our list.More

My family of four had a great experience here, but not because of the food, decor or ambience, which were mostly lacking, but because of the service and showmanship with table side dishes. I thought the decor was a bit pedestrian for a nice restaurant...and the ambience a bit bland. For the food part... *The lobster bisque was so-so. * Caprese salad w prosciutto was so-so. * Steak Diane was very good and prepared table side. * Chateaubriand was pretty good, but the potatoes au gratin were mediocre. I’m not sure how you mess up potatoes au gratin. * The half roasted chicken was winner of the night, believe it or not. It was delectable. My daughter got mashed potatoes and glazed carrots with it. * Bananas Foster was excellent. * Coconut creme brûlée was so-so. * The Flambé Mayan coffee was incredible table side showmanship...better than the coffee actually tasted. Showmanship for table side bananas foster was also great. Despite its shortcomings, my family left feeling happy with the overall experience at this restaurant.More

Since they had just reopened we deceided to see how one of our favorite places to eat was doing . We were not disappointed!! The food was great as usual and the service the same. Not slot of people eating and they have separate spacing...for distancing . My only disappointment was that our guitar player friend Jorge Duran was not playing that night. The wine was good and food as well glad they are back!!!More

Yes, there are vegetarian dishes, and many items on the menu can be modified for vegetarian and vegan; just ask your waiter. They are very knowledgeable about their menu.

We went for any early dinner and found no children there. I’m not sure wether they have a children’s menu. It’s more of an up scale restaurant
