Just got back from our 16th trip to Zihua. Love it as much as always. Spent over half the days at Otilia's at Las Gatas beach. It's worth the walk to the quiet end of the beach, where Franco is waiting to greet us, as...if he knew when we'd be arriving. Love this place. Food and drinks are great, service friendly and personal. Franco knows which chaise we like, put a "Reserved" sign on it, set up an extra umbrella to make sure we had enough shade. Sofia is a GREAT massage therapist, and at $16 for an hour, we had them every time we were there. Warning--don't bend down when you pet Rocco, the resident bulldog, unless you like doggy kisses! Otillas is nearly the last place on the beach as you get off the pier - but it is totally worth the walk. Franco was great - funny, attentive and he spoke English well. I highly recommend the mummy shrimp or the coconut shrimp.

Love Otilia's on Playa Las Gatas. Franco and his team provide excellent service! Cold cerveza and drinks, and great food!

Excellent location, service, Owner - and effort to make you feel at home. Most of staff, particularly Franco speak good English. (I wish they didn't have to for my sake)! Much more relaxed than the "earlier" options.

Our visit to Zihua at the beginning of Oct/20 has turned into a stay of undetermined months at this time. One of our very favourite ways to spend the day is at Playa Las Gatas. An interesting walk down the beach and you arrive at...Otilia’s welcomed by Franco. The restaurant is to be recommended for many little things. It has great seating close to the water spaced comfortably with lounge chairs and table. Franco is on top of it and has your drink of choice ready for you once he knows you. Franco puts his all into being a great host and anticipates your needs/wants. He is very personable and speaks excellent English for those of us who have little Spanish. His personality is a stamp for this restaurant. Then it offers showers at the back after your swim. Leave your things right there as it is very safe. Menu has lots to offer and the best fresh salsa with guacamole is served here. Food is tasty and fresh. A great place to spend the day people watching, snorkelling and relaxing.More

Incredibly good service from Franco, as always. Beer is cold. Coconut shrimp still tied for first place in all of Zihua with Lety's. Live this place and in a beautiful setting at Las Gatas.

First, to get to Playa Las Gatas, catch a boat from the pier in Zihua, not from Playa Ropa. Better parking and cheaper fare from the pier. Second, when you get to Las Gatas, walk the extra distance to Otilia's. Its at the far end,...but well worth the effort. Third, get a pina colada. You have to see it to believe it. Finally, if you are lucky, Franco will be your waiter. His service and recommendations were perfecto. A perfect place to spend a day lounging, swimming, eating and drinking. Gracias Franco!More

Do not stop at the first place you see, it’s really good too but walk the whole of the cove before you decide. The last restaurant has the best views of the surfers, surfing sideways?!?! The BEST BEST BEST Massage therapist Sofia and great service,...drinks and food. Also the cleanest place to rent snorkel gear. Highest recommendation to everyone here. Even Rocco the dog!!!More

Beer is cold, mummy shrimp is amazing, and it's a little quieter at this end of the beach. Fine and Dandy Franco!

The view is spectacular! The waiter has been there 35 years with good English and a friendly smile. The toilets are very good for a remote location much much better than Ixtapa Island. Food and drinks are very good be aware they only take cash....Also you want the regular panda for 50 pesos round-trip Pp. also bring along for 20 peso bills to tip the very aggressive helpers when you get in and out of the panga boat. The tip will cover your family and friends in total. There are some drawbacks. You can buy sand shoes for $20 USThey are very good and fit well they are also very necessary yes ago you would get a few pieces of coral for the first 3 feet and then send over all the water is warm and welcoming the Coral will seriously hurt your feet. Hence the shoes. It is also a long walk to the restaurant away from your starting point it is the one with the red table cloths and green beach chairs. If you want to sand your best pick one of the places near where you get off the boat taxi. Also the only decent snorkeling is at the end of a beach where the reef ends Opposite the boat dock. There is a sunken concrete Jesus statue off of the reef perhaps 20 yards out from the roof and 20 yards from its end. If you are lucky you may see people circling in the ocean or hanging onto a surfboard that is providing a tour.More

I agree walking there is a very bad idea. Very few people do. Even with mobility issues if you go to the pier you can get a boat taxi ride for 50 pesos per person round-trip. There are helpers at each end who expect a tip... More

You take a water taxi from the pier in Zihuatanejo. When you get off the boat the restaurant is almost at the very end of the beach
