I returned to EJ's for a second visit last evening … Unbelievably the meal was even worse that the cremated garbage that they served me during my first visit. I ordered their Beef with Broccoli and what, ideally, should have arrived would have been succulent...slices of beef freshly simmered in it's own gravy style sauce with sliced broccoli added towards the end of the cooking process and served to the table … No chance! The beef had not been freshly cooked, in fact it hadn't been cooked that day at all, it was pre-cooked beef that I became of the opinion that they buy-in processed, they had sliced it and cut it in to small rectangular pieces and, I believe, put it thru a microwave prior to serving, it was both tough and chewy and not succulent, melt-in-the-mouth, as it could/should have been. Then there was a carrot garnish, my god there was probably two complete carrots of it, now carrot can be really refreshing when there is water still within but this carrot was old, it was dry and of a rubber texture and would have been more appropriately served in the bin. The broccoli, complete florets of it, clearly straight out of a saucepan of water and having not been anywhere near the beef during the cooking process which, of course, would have been the microwave! But then came their 'Pièce de Résistance' ... the goddam awful sauce … I realise that this lot shall never get it but not all of the world is addicted to sugar as they are, sugar is a killer and having not taken sugar myself for the past 35 years it is not just that I find the stuff disgusting but I am actually offended when some idiot decides to lace my meat & vegetable dinner with it. It was so sweet it was disgusting but there was so much sugar in the sauce that as the meal cooled down the sauce solidified around the beef, it was like I would have needed a hammer & chisel had I wished to continue eating this garbage. EJ's has the makings of a good restaurant, nice location etc., but whoever is in charge of their produce purchasing, their recipes selection and their cooking processes needs to be fired before the place has any chance of improving because somebody has clearly lost the plot!More

This place is busy at all hours. They menu has a wide selection of choices. I ate here on 3 occasions. Everything that we ordered was delicious. That coffee drinks and desserts were fabulous. Every evening they have live entertainment until 1am. The place is...always filled with foreign travelers. I highly recommend this eating establishment.More

This place needs to learn how to cook and serve ribs, I made the mistake of ordering the special pork ribs, they were special alright, absolutely cremated, just charcoaled remains and no edible meat left on the bones, just one taste made me feel ill,...I fed them to my dog the next day and even he didn't like them. Whilst I'm sure they can serve some quality dishes their special ribs are not one of them, I'm awarding 2 stars for the live music, the cold beer and the professional waiter but NOT for my meal.More

This bar / restaurant is on the sea front next to the Tavern hotel. It has great live music nights and offers a good range of food. Really enjoyed a meal on a couple of nights there with friends.

I had dinner here with my husband and our daughter, their food was good and portions were big. They have a coffee shop and a restaurant right across. We stayed inside the coffee shop (it was a good thing that they allow food to be...served there) because there was live music, a little bit too loud for our taste, at the restaurant. Also, there were big groups of people drinking and it wasn't really friendly for families especially with kids. I still recommend it because of the coffee and food, apart from the bad live music.More

We have been here many times over the last 7 years and it never disappoints. The food is reasonably priced and great quality. It's the biggest and in our opinion, the best entertainment venue in Surigao City. We fortunate to be there when the band...Frequency were playing. I'm not sure if that is how you spell their name. Their lead singer was the best we've heard and there are plenty of amazing singers in the Philippines. Even if you are only staying for one night before taking a ferry, make sure this place is on your list. It is right next door to the Tavern Hotel.More
