When I read the reviews of this restaurant on TA, I confidently made a reservation months in advance of my trip. Our meal lived up to all the high praise. Indeed I'm calling it out as my favorite meal of more than a dozen high-end degustations we enjoyed.
First, each dish was excellent: great ingredients beautifully prepared. Second, as a party of four at a counter that can serve at most five, we enjoyed the undivided attention of the chef throughout the meal. Third, and perhaps most important, our chef told us the stories of each dish and how they related to his home of Ise, to Japanese practice and tradition, and to each other. About halfway through the meal, a feeling of pleasure came over my entire body and remained with me the rest of the evening. The food pleased not only my palate and satisfied my stomach, but it fed me in such a complete way that my whole body responded with pleasure!
I will also say that I felt this pleasure despite not partaking in the sake pairing. My wife did enjoy that pairing very much, but the meal was heavenly with just the food alone.
If you are an English-speaking foreigner seeking an extraordinary dining experience, I highly recommend Ise Sueyoshi!

A totally immersive restaurant experience-highly recommended for the quality of the food and excellence in service. We were a party of 4 attended to by 3 chefs (we had the restaurant to ourselves as it only seats 5). We had the sake pairing option and it worked extremely well with all the dishes. Chef Yuki comes from Ise and all the ingredients and sake are sourced from this area. Every dish was intricately prepared and were different taste sensations. Ought to be a Michelin Star restaurant - you so need to book ahead and you can do son from overseas. Chef Yuki explained each dish, the sourcing of the product and how best to taste the food - some had to follow a certain order!
Would definitely return next time we are in Tokyo.
Directions are provided but the place can be quite challenging to find.

This was the third Kaiseki dinner we had in Japan and it was by far our favourite! Amazing attention to detail and superbly executed dishes. The ingredients for the dinner are all sourced from the area in Japan where the chef is from. He has a book on the area with photos of the producers and farmers who grows the food. It was such a nice treat to understand the region of which we were eating the produce. We also had a sake pairing with dinner and had many varieties of different sake. The chef was also so kind to explain the traditions of the Kaiseki dinner and the best way to eat the dishes, something we did not have at the other Kaiseki meals we had!
Highly recommend visiting this restaurant if you are in Tokyo and looking for an authentic Kaiseki dinner!

I had the chance to visit while I was in Tokyo; this was absolutely my favorite meal in Tokyo. Each dish is presented excellently; Chef Yuuki explains the source of the ingredients, and why he has selected them. There is even a book that highlights the sources for the ingredients. Chef Yuuki and his staff were extremely attentive and answered questions throughout the entire process. I will definitely return next time I am in Tokyo (and with the # of great restaurants there, that is quite the achievement!)

My family and I loved our visit to Ise Sueyoshi. Chef Tanaka and his team were extremely knowledgeable, adjusted the menu flawlessly for our dietary restrictions, and provided excellent service throughout the meal. Every dish was delicious and represented the ingredients beautifully.
We will definitely be going back to Ise Sueyoshi our next visit to Tokyo - it was absolutely worth the trip!

Delicious and amazing experience! The chefs were also very accommodating for dietary restrictions. It truly was such an intimate and wonderful time. The chef/owner also speaks excellent english, so it was great to be able to discuss his cuisine and background.

We both had visited the restaurant a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it and this return visit was something we much looked forward to. The care taken with the food, the sake pairings, the explanations, the diverse flavors, and the impeccable presentation are stunning and each course included fresh, specifically sourced ingredients that sometimes surprised. The blowfish stew we enjoyed came with sake enhanced by a blowfish fin. As with last time, this is not so much a meal as an experience. It was a particularly poignant dinner as I had to return to the USA unexpectedly the following day because the State Department had requested all travelers return; this was a superb ending to the visit. I can’t wait for my next visit.

Ann immersive journey from beginning to end with the chefs. There was a backstory to each item, an explanation for the dish. Great pacing, great sake pairing, very intimate atmosphere. Chefs were very attentive and focused on the details.

An amazing experience. Having lived in Japan for 7+ years now, I can honestly say this is one of the most unique and unforgettable dining experiences I've had.
We were able to learn a lot about the local ingredients of Mie prefecture. Chef Tanaka meticulously crafts a new menu for each month as an expression of the current season. Each dish had it's own unique charm and showcased not only the skill of the chef but also the freshness of the local ingredients. The whole restaurant is very detail orientated while still maintaining a very warm and welcoming vibe. The staff are all very friendly and attentive. It's the little details that Ise Sueyoshi does very well, and we were made to feel very special. We will definitely be back! Thank you for such a wonderful evening.

What better way to experience the heart of a community and culture than to survey various flavor profiles and preparations…all paired with the local libations? It is for us one of the highlights of every trip.
Our experience at Ise is in some ways difficult to describe. The intimate setting combined with the genuinely welcoming and warm hospitality immediately dispels any semblance of pretentiousness. The atmosphere feels more like an evening shared around the table with friends or family than “going out” to a fancy restaurant. While we are feeling comfortably at home, however, the chef and his team are meticulously crafting the most incredible plates we’ve ever had.
Each dish is explained and presented as part of a story, illustrated both through the quality of the ingredients and the picture book that anchors each course to the region we are celebrating. The meal is colorful, flavorful, and educational! The sake pairing is a must. We admittedly had little knowledge of sake outside of our hometown sushi places, but left with a newfound appreciation for the complexity and depth of possibilities within the sake family.
We really can’t say enough good things about Ise. It was true artistry. True beauty. And truly enjoyable! Our favorite dishes from the night were the Roasted Venison from Mie, Ise Ebi Lobster, Hot Pot of Fugu, and Matcha Fondant Chocolate.
We will never forget it, and genuinely hope to return someday soon!

Food was a great. As there is a wide range of dishes served some dishes might not be to your liking, but you can definitely tell they were prepared with care and skill. For me personally I loved almost every dish, and recommend the sake pairing to go with it. My partner is a very picky eater but still managed to enjoy it.
Chef was also very friendly and good to talk to/explained the dishes and sources of the food.

Tucked away in the serene corners of Roppongi, Ise Sueyoshi is a dining revelation. The kaiseiki dinner, meticulously crafted by the talented Chef Yuki-San, is a gastronomic journey that evokes not just taste but also an emotional connection to the land. His unique album, showcasing photographs of the origins of each ingredient from his hometown in Mie prefecture, adds layers of depth and authenticity to the experience.
The sake pairing is nothing short of magical. Over the course of the dinner, we were introduced to a diverse range of 7-8 sakes. Each pour complemented the dishes flawlessly, elevating the flavors and leaving an indelible mark on the palate. For those seeking a genuine kaiseiki encounter, the pricing is incredibly reasonable, offering unmatched value.
A gentle reminder: the restaurant provides an intimate setting with only five seats. This might lend a quiet atmosphere depending on the diners. However, our evening was filled with lively conversation as we took the initiative to engage with our fellow diner. It transformed the ambience from calm to vibrant, enriching our overall experience.

Saying this was one of the best meals I've ever is, by no means, an understatement. It was absolutely incredible.
That said, one of the best parts of this, in my opinion, is that it's not just about sitting down and eating. The whole story behind the ingredients and the fact that it comes from the chef's home town and prefecture just makes the, already small and cosy setting, even more intimate and interesting.
And speaking of the chef and the entire staff: amazing throughout the whole service! Always making sure to explain not only what we were eating but also where it came from. Not to mention super friendly and accommodating to every request.
I also recommend the sake pairing to perfectly complement the experience.
All in all, incredible experience. All these 5 star are by no means an overstatement...it's just proof that there's no mistake about Ise Sueyoshi. If you're reading this and you're still thinking about going or not, my words of advice are: go for it...you will not regret it!

Love Ise Sueyoshi and Chef Yuuki. If you are looking for a kaiseki experience, look no further. For me, food is a way to communicate. And Chef Yuuki communicated his love of fresh ingredients and his home town through dinner. Sourcing his own ingredients and having a relationship with the farmers. Knowing where your food comes from and knowing what to do to optimize the taste. The byproduct is a fantastic display of food that parallel art. Get the sake pairing!

Ise Sueyoshi is a authentic Kaiseki restaurant with an intimist flair and a captivating chef! I went to Ise Sueyoshi with my wife for my birthday, and had the best dinner of my life! Not only the taste of each dish was incredible, the ingredients carefully thought out and cooked to excellence, but also the sake pairing and chef‘s attention to guests, made this an unforgettable experience. Chef Tanaka is a young, dedicated chef and host, and both the ambiance and the food will make up for an incredible meal! Highly recommended!
