Bear & Blacksmith NEVER fails to deliver. They have a farm to fork approach and my goodness it delivers in terms of flavours of food, drinks offerings & superb, friendly service.
We went for Sunday lunch with friends, 3 had lamb and one pork. It...was genuinely superb! Reasonable price point & great vfm.
Highly recommend a visit to this great village pub.More
Enjoyed a fabulous meal here during our short stay in the area. Great selection on offer from both their usual menu and daily specials so far more choice than your usual pub menu. Very small bar area so this is definitely more of a restaurant...than a pub & would highly recommend if you are in the area.More
One of the best meals we ate during a week long stay in the area. The local scallops were particularly memorable. We ate outside which was a great relaxed setting to bring our 1yo out for lunch as he was able to play in the...garden. Thank you for preparing him a lovely cottage pie with roasted veg. It was great that you offered something different than the standard chips based kids meal. The service was welcoming and we would highly recommend visiting.More
An attractive village pub as you approach. Be aware if you arrive by car as there is no road sign for the car park but turn down Tanpits Lane where you will find parking behind the pub. We were disappointed when entering the pub as...it was more like a refurbished bistro/restaurant and not the feel of the quintessential British pub. That said plenty of locals at the bar. For some reason our reservation for a table for lunch wasn't available but we were shown by the lovely bar lady to a garden table in a pleasant covered area. Good fish 'n' chips, the latter crispy. Lovely team. Despite over a year of government project fear and lockdown hysteria the pub still has signs for wearing masks, social distancing and the NHS track and trace. Playing covid19 policeman but ignored by all.More
Excellent service from a senior waitress who accommodated our needs and let my son try different ciders before purchasing. Catered for an off menu cocktail as well.
Would never have guessed that there is a beautiful seating area behind the front door. Really nice layout....Food was delicious especially the scallops. Would have given 5/5 but after starters service was slow although fully understand that this may be caused by staffing shortages.
Would definitely visit again. Beautiful garden outside lit by fairy lights as well ❤️More
Visited on a busy evening. |Sat outside. Booking is definitely recommended. Drinks arrived quickly but took a long time to take the order, some items had run out of stock. Time for food to arrive was a long wait. Food was well presented. Staff friendly...& efficient.More
