I always look forward every 4pm coz I'm gonna get my Dakay and Burnt cinnamon fix. This merienda place is heavenly and I wish I can take some with me in Manila.
We’ve been looking for a cafe that would serve to cap dinner and Phil’s Brew did not disappoint. The cakes and drinks served in a dimly lit cozy garden was a great way to end the day.... A cafe not to miss when you’re in...Basco, Batanes.More
When searching for coffee places/cafe's in Basco, this is the number one result so we just had to see for ourselves! They open late so we went around 5pm. We rented a bike going here though it was just about 4 blocks away from Savatan,...the place is going uphill so prepare to sweat. The owner was very nice. Their coffees don't have sugar but they provide you a jar of it. Must try is the lemon square. You can really taste the lemon.More
It's a must visit coffee shop in Batanes! After eating our dinner, we found this coffee shop near our hotel. We ordered Iced Cappuccino and it was really good. Try their Tres Leches, it's so yummy, also a perfect pair for the coffee.
This is probably one of the things that make Batanes very unique and special. You have a cafe that's a jewel of a place. Although this is primarily a house that the owners turned into a restaurant, it still exudes the warm and cozy ambience...you can't find in big city joints. The place serves its own specialties so it's unlikely that you'll find something equal in another cafe elsewhere. For example, the Tres Leches is sweetness overload but you'll just love it. Everything that we ordered was good. This includes their take on some traditional Ivatan delicacies. The special touch is that the lady barista/baker will even explain to you what each dish is if you're not familiar with them. This is highly-recommended for visitors to Batanes. I really believe that this should be an official Basco tourist attraction.More
The Best Dessert in town. There Tres Leches is so yummy!! It is a signature dish and a must try in batanes
We were impressed with our visit to Phil's Brew to have our dose of good caffeine after 2 days in the island. First, everyone know where the coffee shop is. We loved that it's located in the middle of a residential neighborhood. But what wowed...us was the fact it is run solo by a charming lady whose only tool is a bell which she rings when your order is done. She explains the brew for the day - aside from what her kitchen whipped up. We loved the tres leches, chocolate cake and her take on ube kakanin. The coffee shop is incorporated into their garden setting and can only accommodate a small cluster of people.More
During our trip, we visited Phil's Brew twice. I really love their coffee and homemade desserts, especially the Tres Leches and their chocolate cake! There are local rice cakes as well that are really delish. The only drawback is that they do not have a...toilet and they close at 9pm.More
We were here every day for the four days we stayed at Batanes, sometimes even twice a day. It had the best coffee downtown and the cakes had the right amount of sweetness. The biko and palitaw servings were quite generous and honestly better than...most kakanin I get to try back home. Ms. Imee is so warm and friendly and her cafe would probably be our first stop when we return. Keep in mind that the place is open from 4pm onwards and mostly has outdoor seating.More
We really enjoyed the delicious cakes especially the Tres Leches.. The hot chocolate is also to die for.. - Thank you Ma’am for granting my request for a cup of chocolate in the morning( because they usually open 4pm-9pm). -So when you go in Batanes...come and visit Phil’s Brew ... It is highly recommended. 👍🏼More
Went here with friends. Place is quaint and the café owner's very accommodating. Do try out all of their desserts! I would recommend the batirol, tres leches cake, as well as the tablea cake if you're not the sweet-toothed person. If you want to try...their local dessert or kakanin, ask for dukay. ☕🍰More
Their Tres Leches cake greatly pairs with their coffee. The place is Instagram worthy. Hope their operating hours are longer.
This garden cafe is operated by Ms. Imee, who is the daughter of Phil. She is a gracious host and you immediately sense that the cafe is a labor of love. Must try here are the tres leches cake, lemon square, coffee and tubho tea...(mild, with hints of citrus). If you prefer the taste of chocolate, without the overwhelming sweetness, try the chocolate tablea cake. It was our anniversary when my wife and I dropped by, and Ms. Imee definitely made our day! Notes: Open: 3:30 PM to 9:00 PM The cafe and the streets of Basco are non-smoking areas. If it is raining, there will be limited seating. To order, go up to the window and you'll find Ms. Imee. While it is possible to do take-outs, it is not advisable to take-out the tres leches cake.More
It was my 5th day in Batanes. I was so curious on what the cafe offers. I went to the place like around 5pm since my palate was looking for some good coffee and dessert. So tried the cappuccino and the local food here they...called dukayo. I was surprised with the taste. It's very delicious! The specialty of Phil's brew is the tres leches but since I'm alone, i can only fill in 1 at a time. Lol. But definitely i'll go back in this place and will eta the tres leche. Added in the beauty of the place is the stone house, the amgarden and the 10-foot deep water storage. It's also very romantic that time since what I have is some kind of candlelit dinner. 😁More
