We have visited here quite a few times , seems to be a hit & miss with the food. We had coffees which came lukewarm , my chocolate slice was nice, my partners cake was small and dry , we also waited a good while..., even though there was only a few other people there. Honestly ? this cafe could be so much better , the staff always look like they havent had any sleep for weeks ! the lack of smiles and enthusiasim lets it down . as i said ..it could be a really great wee cafe !More

Family and I are regular customers here at Jamesfield, and I really cannot fault it at all. Every time we visit the food and service is spot on. Waiting staff always make us feel very relaxed and welcome. Will be back soon!

Restaurant quite chilly on arrival. Paid £11 for a sandwich and small bowl of warm soup. Felt this was very overpriced for what I actually got and would have expected the soup to be piping hot. Then had a slice of Victoria sandwich. Could only...eat the icing as the cake was so dry and hard. On paying I mentioned this to the waitress and actually tapped the cake with my fork so she could see (and hear) how dry it was. She apologised and said she would pass it on about the cake. I’m not one for causing a fuss but it would have been a nice gesture to have not been charged for the cake myself and my friend didn’t eat apart from the icing. The staff were very nice but I won’t be back.More

Our visit today was really disappointing, we arrived at 1.30pm for lunch, it was quite busy but it looked like the majority of tables had already had their meal. We ordered two ham and cheese toasties with soup, the waitress advised there was no ham...left but they could substitute it for bacon which we were delighted with. After 45 minutes we asked a member of staff if our order had been forgotten about and he apologised and explained that the kitchen was under staffed and they were behind with orders. Had we known this when we were seated we probably wouldn't have felt like we had been forgotten about for 45 minutes. The food arrived 5 minutes later and was really underwhelming. The lentil soup had lots of coriander and cumin in it, and the toasties were very basic, i expected better given it was a local farm shop with local produce. We spent £27.75 for two toasties, a small cup sized bowl of soup, a tea and a bottle of appletize juice. I can't fault the waiting staff, its not their fault they were understaffed and there was no sign of a manager looking after them or the restaurant. The waitress who gave us our bill appologised again for our wait and told us the same happened only the week before. We overheard numerous tables complaining about the length of time they waited too. We live locally having moved to the area last year, we had hoped of finding our new local lunch spot as the location and views are stunning. Super disappointed 😞 and feeling heart sorry for the waiter/waitress having to deal with unsatisfied customers through no fault of their own.More

Found this on Facebook and thought to give it a visit. The first thoughts were , it's not as big as I was expecting , there was a good array of stuff to look at, the Christmas part was ok . We then went to...the restaurant, the food was delicious and filling the little shop within was really good too. Bought a cake to go and again we were not disappointed very nice. Overall, good value for moneyMore

We were too early for lunch so we opted for the Breakfast instead. The waitress was pretty miserable. When the breakfast came the bacon was so hard you could use it as shoe leather, pitiful sausage was tasteless as was the black pudding. tattie scone...was not very good either. I would say I have had better breakfast in a greasy spoon than in Jamesfield. Not once were we asked how everything was. After having had a lovely lunch here on Sunday I wont be venturing back.More

We have been many times for coffee and cake and the cakes are amazing! However we came with the grandkids for lunch and it was awful! The chips were enormous wedges which I think had been cooked then left on the side in the kitchen....They were soggy and cold!!!!! The Coronation Chicken sandwich was on lovely brown bread but it was very much Hunt the chicken! There was 80 per cent curry sauce, very little chicken! Trying to save money? We won't have lunch here again.More

Not our first visit here but definitely our last. We've tried a few times with Jamesfield but they are simply uninterested in improving anything about their restaurant. The staff are pleasant enough but not particularly attentive and move with no efficiency at all. When we...arrived, the restaurant wasn't busy and we were told by three members of staff that they'd be with us in a minute, not one of these members of staff seated us, despite not continuing on to do another task. We ordered toasties that were advertised with a side salad for £8.75 which we felt was quite expensive but awaited the food. We waited fifteen minutes for the two most pathetic plates of food to be served (I say served, they were more thrown down in front of us). The toasties themselves were small and made on cheap, thin bread. I ordered the ham and cheese (thinking surely they can't get this wrong!) and was greeted with cheap, greasy cheese and cheap, plastic ham. The toastie was not cooked properly with the cheese on the inside being cold and still grated (nowhere near melted). My Mum ordered the brie and cranberry toastie which was also small with minimal filling (although hers was at least melted). The salad on the side was small, wilted and very sad looking. For £8.75 per plate, this food fell woefully short. We actually drove to the co-op, bought some bread rolls and made sandwiches at home for less than half the price which were much more appealing. There is nothing I can recommend about Jamesfield and hope that one day they take some of this feedback on board.More
