Having had some lovely meals here before I was thoroughly impressed by my food on the day the Pitcrocknie hosted the lunch for the vintage motorbike Doc’s run. From the moment we rode into the car park we were made to feel welcome as were...the many friends who came to see all our vintage and classic bikes. The car park is large enough to hold many (I’ve seen more than 60) vehicles and is well surfaced and gives incredibly easy access to the restaurant for everyone including the disabled be it old, unsure on your feet or in a wheelchair via a gently sloping pathway. The setting is just gorgeous, the restaurant is bright and open where most of the tables inside are at one of the many windows which have views over a well tended, vibrant (and I’ve heard very good) 9 hole golf course. You can sit and enjoy the views while the lovely staff look after you or you can relax on the sofa in front of the fire. On my last visit I had a lovely chicken curry while sitting at one of the benches outside and I’m told the steak pie was good too but previously I have been here for coffee/tea and cakes and I’ve also been treated to a romantic dinner here when I enjoyed the best Cullen skink I have ever had. The Pitcrocknie is a wee gem on my doorstep and it is well worth a visit anytime.More

Perhaps it's me. I didn't think I was one of those who bucked the trend with reviews, giving just a three when all around me are handing out fives. But that's the best I can do, I'm afraid. We had read all the reviews beforehand...and thought we must give it a try while on holiday in the area. Friday lunchtime, we realised we could leave it much longer. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. Service was friendly but would have expected the staff to be smarter, particularly at a golf course where they're usually a bit picky. We were presented with two menus, one a la carte and one the day menu for Friday. Both had fish and chips on but at different prices. One had steak and ale pie and mash at £14, the other steak pie and chips at £12.95. Now is it me or is that just confusing the customer? We both asked for steak and ale pie, but got the pie and chips. As pies go, the meat was well cooked and very tasty, can't complain. But the flaky pastry seemed to have been warmed in the microwave, because it was rubbery. Certainly not worth five stars. Having seen all the fab pictures other customers have posted, I can only surmise the person in charge of presentation was off that day, because it was nothing special. It's what I would expect to get in an average pub from an average chef. But don't let me put you off, that's not my intention. We must have been unlucky, because the other 230-plus reviewers can't all be wrong... and on the plus side, it's a great setting and very clean inside.More

We had been to the Pitcrocknie for lovely coffee and cakes and really enjoyed it, so we returned a week later for a superb dinner. Service and food really were first class. So when another restaurant we had booked for lunch fir 70 motorcyclists let...us down, we tried Scott at very short notice. Scott and his team did a fantastic job. To put out almost seventy plates of really really good food in only 45 minutes was incredible. Everybody who attended was so impressed. We have already arranged to go back next year.More

This is a great place for lunch. Lovely setting, staff were so friendly and helpful. If I lived there I would go all the time. They truly made you feel welcome and want to come back. We had our little dog with us and they...brought a little bowl of water for him. Can't recommend this place enough.More

We were lucky enough to find this Gem of a place on our first night. Needless to say we visited each day of our 7 day stay in Aylth - as the food and service was so good. Whether it be breakfast/Coffee/lunch or dinner, we...worked our way thorough the Menu and each serving/service we had was fab. Black Pudding Starter or Salad, the Duck, Cullen Skink, the Lamb to name a few oh and don't forget the chips - could eat them all day, the fruit scones, the meringues the carrot cake (we left with a whole one). As we were leaving we spied the Afternoon tea - it certainly looked outstanding and we missed a trick there! Go and try - you won't be disappointed. Staff friendly and welcoming, lovely clean large bright space overlooking the golf course. A nice way to spend some time, with great, I mean GREAT food.More

We ordered afternoon tea for my mum’s ‘special’ birthday and we were certainly not disappointed. The staff were extremely helpful, kind and accommodating. We decided to have our afternoon tea as a takeaway so we could enjoy it in the comfort of our own home....The selection and amount of food provided was outstanding. In particular, we enjoyed the delicious scotch eggs which were made with black pudding. There was an excellent selection of both savoury and sweet options so there was something for everyone. It was a delicious treat and we would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for something special. Thank you.More
