Nice place to coffee and tea, just beside the hotel and gas station. Interesting place for night meet up and friendly chat in a relaxed place. Need to maintain the cozy environment. Maybe improve to a few and better menu.

Great coffee selection (blends and brew method)
Food is good, nothing really stands out. Prices are ok, except for the extra hotdog that i ordered that costs 50php.

I had high hopes for this place. Went there at around 10am. Service crew were a bit busy with we don't know what, and at times ignored us. Upon order of 3 meal plates with coffee took a long time to serve. Coffee was served first, cups were small. Our orders came just as I was about to finish my coffee. Though the food was good, probably this place can be nicer if it was air-conditioned.

Once again, I had the opportunity to visit this literally-hidden gem in Tuguegarao. The place is not really seen if you will pass by the streets of Tuguegarao, it is in front of Joselina Hotel and behind the Petron gas station in Caggay, but I am pretty sure that you will say that it is worthwhile to search for the establishment. This visit is not my first time, as a matter of fact, I have seen how the food menu evolved. But first, I want to talk about their coffee.
Variety? Yes, a vast selection of coffee blends to choose from, but my favorite is the Ybanag brew. I like my coffee simple, black, and with brown sugar or muscovado. This blend is one of the main reasons why I keep coming back. It's smooth, not too strong, with just the right amount of coffee kick. I love this blend, they sell the beans too if you want to bring some for the family. I am a black coffee drinker, Ybanag brew and the other blends such as the Barako and the flavored ones are just as good.
The food: delicious. I was a little surprised to see that the food menu has evolved. Their version of Carabao meat Tapsilog is my favorite, but I also like the local longganisa, my usual order in my previous visits. The flavor of the carabeef tapa is just amazing. We have our own recipe of carabeef tapa in our home in Iguig, but if you are in Tuguegarao, the carabeef tapa is a quick fix. They have pasta in their menu, and I am aiming to taste them in the future. The Pigar-pigar (an Ilocano dish, they also use carabeef, which is very nice!) and the ever famous Pancit Batil-patung is now in the menu. Their version of Batil-patung is superb! They have the sizzling version, but I tried the simpler presentation. The pancit was cooked just right. I have tasted this dish in other eateries or restos, but I love their version because the noodles is not over cooked, and my tastebuds doesn't detect any MSG in the pancit. There is so much to try and talk about in the food and coffee menu, so I must say that it would be really worth the visit if you are in town, not to mention how the interior of the structure was presented. I love the vintage look and the furniture sets were just so right for the interior design. Kudos to the chef and the owner.

The coffee selection is great and varied, however, serving sizes are not much bigger than a thimble. Don't bother using the menu, because of the things we asked for 3 out of 4 were not available, would have been quicker to ask what they did have.
Overall quality of meal was good and priced reasonably, would recommend this place higher if things on menu that you want were available

Barako Boy is located just infront of the hotel Joselina. Breakfast is served starting at 630am or you can have your order brought to your room at the Hotel Joselina (10% additional).
I really love the place. Wooden furniture, old plates, an old sewing machine, bahay kubos are some of the accents they used. And as a lover of Antiques, of old things not to love the place is impossible.
At Barako Boy their coffee choices is quite extensive. Try the local coffee (Ybanag Roast and Cagayan Blend).
There are a lot of choices too for breakfast. Try the Longanizza.
Prices for breakfast range from P75 for a Complete Meal (excluding Coffee) upto P180 for a platter with 3 choices of meat.
Barako Boy is a must try if you are in Tuguegarao.

Didn't expect to love this place. The people here suggested that this is the best coffee place in town. So had to try it. And they were right!
Tried their butterscotch coffee since it was one of the best sellers. It wad really good. Yum yum.
Ambiance is also good. They had some reading books for those who want to kill time here.
Will definitely come back for coffee.

A taste of native coffee from different localities. Try anything from the menu and you'll surely enjoy your time in this shop. Plus it is near a hotel and some local eatery as well.

It was during our trip in April 2015 in the province of Cagayan that we discovered Barako Boy. We were billeted at Hotel Joselina and Barako Boy was one its servicing restaurant. It's located within the property, just a few steps from the hotel lobby. The playful & fancy interior immediately caught my attention. It was quaint, nostalgic, rustic, warm & homey, very laid back. It was an area filled trinkets and interesting bric-a-bracs, including its furnitures and furnishings. The mini library, reading corner & "do-you-know" postings were refreshing & educational. Their specialty is coffee - in all its form, blend, processing, roasting & brew. They likewise serve plated meals, food platters, cake & pastries, pasta and other blended drinks. Very affordable. The owner was very hands on, conversant and helpful too. I just love hanging around the restaurant for cups of butterscotch & Benguet coffee with my every meal. A must try !

The first thing you're going to notice is the awesome design of the place. The decorations are pleasing to the eyes and instagram worthy. Their menu is budget-friendly and there are choices of hot/cold coffee, filipino food, sandwiches and cakes. I was just disappointed with their plating since the place is awesome, I was also expecting that it would be great.
