Friendly staff. Opens fairly early ( i.e 8:30 pm). Traditional cooking and serve-yourself cider from the giant casks. (Ask the staff about the different varieties). You can have apple juice of course. Nice atmosphere and not so noisy as many Basque places. It's a fairly...restricted menu though.More

We ordered the Sidreria menu and everything was really good; a lot of food for 4. I have been in a lot of different Sidrerías, and the size of meat steaks was much bigger. Staff was very nice, and attentive. I highly recommend it!

We visited off-season (starts around 20th January) but the atmosphere was just as good. The Sagardotegia (cider house) is a place to eat well and informally, so expect wooden benches and excellent food and cider. Greeted in Basque by a very charming waitress, she was...most helpful in getting us the traditional cider house meal (starter is a fish omelette, followed by steamed cod and onion, the a txuleta (steak, served rare) and finished off with cheese or a walnut dessert. The food was absolutely outstanding, the meat was incredible. The informal atmosphere quickly had us chatting with the couple next to us and we followed them to the barrels to have a couple of glasses of cider from the barrels. This is the essential Basque experience at its finest. When you tire of all the pintxos down town or the Michelin restaurants, go here. Located a short bus trip from Donostia (San Sebastian) and a quick walk from there.More

Typical "Sidrería" in Astigarraga. I have been there already twice during the "Txotx" season (between February and April) and I must admit that the food is really good. The standard Sidrería Menu costs 28 euros. For this money you will get as much cider as...you want plus cod omelette, fried cod, "txuleta" (kind of beefsteak) and cheese with walnuts for dessert. In my opinion the place is a bit small, the portion sizes are not particularly big and the staff is not specially friendly.More

I've been going at least once a year during Txotx season (Feb-May), and every time I'm reaffirmed of the choice. The service is good, the waiters friendly, and the food (the reason to go) is good. I want to highlight that the Cod Omelette and...the Txuleta are of really good quality, and during fungi season, the fungi omelette must be ordered. They used to open only in cider season, but this year they decided to remain open during the whole year (a better option for those who want to take friends to the "sidreria" Menu out of the season, and do not want to go to big open all year sidrerias like Petritegui)More

It's an excellent place to go with friends and even family. The menu is amazing and the portions are quite big, so make sure you don't eat any pintxo before lunch!
