Imaginative, healthy, tasty food offered by chef/owner. We enjoyed the best lunch of our four week trip to Morocco. It would be great if he were to open in the evening. By far the best food in the Gorges du Dades. It is 27 km from Boumaine and the 20 minute drive offers very interesting scenery. If you are looking for something different to a tagine the chef offers a very enticing menu in a great little restaurant.

Saw the sign offering "European Sandwiches" which appealed for a lunchtime snack. Ordered "Fromage Frais" which came with a delicious salad and bread on the side. Most unexpected. Best lunch on a 2 week trip. The owner set up a table for us on the roof to enjoy the first warm sunshine for ages and served local herb tea. A delightful experience and worth the drive.

Stayed right across. Walked for a coffee. Ordered snacks, coffee, and tea. Excellent friendly service from the owner. No one there in that evening hence the owner joined to chat with us. Very nice place to stop.

The sandwiches come actually as salad plus bread but were absolutely delicious. We had the impression that the owner and chef has the dream to be a Michelin chef in a well known western restaurant instead of working in the middle of nowhere.

A big surprise in the middel of Dades gorge. Hassan is a talented chef, and a lovely host. We've decided we want to eat outside of our Riad and it was totally worth the drive! Go there, you will not regret

Who would think the best food in Morocco is being served in a kiosk restaurant. Dinner was so extraordinarily that we scheduled the whole next day' Dades tour so we can have lunch there too. He call it European Chinese food, we think its good fusion food made by very talented Moroccan chef. Highly recommended

We stopped at this cute little place for lunch as we were touring the Dades Valley. The owner, Hassan, was very friendly and arranged a table for us at the roof terrace. We ordered a sandwich with goats cheese and a sandwich with chicken. We were surprised when we got the food because it was like a large salad with many elements which looked amazing. We also had some (fresh) bread so we could make our own sandwiches. The food was very fresh and homemade and it tasted really good. Also good value for money, since we paid 120 mad for the two sandwiches and two cola. The restaurant not have a toilet. Hassan is working on building one at the moment. But not to worry, if you need to go you can use the toilet of a hotel close to the restaurant. We would definitely recommend this place!!

Do not get confused with the sign "european sandwiches", this small place is run by a real moroccan chief and serves live cooking food from fresh products. Herbs, argan, cheese, homemade recipies. It is a must to step by and relax during your trip.

Be prepared to taste something different i Chef's Hassan restaurant. At first we were a little bit suspicious if the european restaurant in the centre of Dades can be that good but the lunch we ate (two salads) was so tasty! Come here not only if you are tired with tagine!

We went to Chef Hassan on the recommendation of our hotel manager; when we said we wanted something other than Moroccan food. Le Basilic is a small nondescript place with 2-3 tables in a clean and basic environment. Hassan cooks everything from scratch, and so it took a little time (come and order ahead of time); and the food was some of the most tastiest foods we have eaten. The freshness definitely showed; as Hassan gets everything locally, including herbs that he showed us. Each dish we had had amazing, unique, and distinct flavor that was very nice and tasty on the palate without ever being overwhelming. Hassan learned the Chef skills under a french chef, and so is very very good. We had the French-Chinese items on the menu, followed by fresh tarts that he made in his little oven. Fantastic. Highly recommended. If you are in this area, you should NOT miss this wonderful Gem

This place is wonderful! After five days of tagines and couscous (which we love), we were excited to see this little European cafe. The chef specializes in French and Chinese cooking and the food was wonderful and very affordable. Three of us ate full meals with drinks and we took snacks and drinks for four people to go for less then $25. I had a lovely chicken salad "sandwich" and my husband had the eggs - which were scrambled perfectly. The seasoning was intricate and spot on. My only regret is not going back for dinner. If you are in town. Please check out this cafe for any meal if you are in the area.

Just when we'd had just about enough tagines and tangias to last us a lifetime, we found this little gem in the middle of the Dades Gorge Valley. We walked in to check the menu at lunch and ended up with three amazing salads with fresh local goat cheese, topped with honey and sesame seeds and carmelized apples. We decided to order early for dinner and came back a few hours later for vegetable quiche, another goat cheese salad, and an unexpected Chinese dish of crusty chicken breast baked with almonds, vermicelli, shitake mushrooms, and a zucchini and tomato. We topped it all off with a warm apple tart. We enjoyed private and attentive service at both meals. If it weren't so far from Marrakech, we would go back again in a heart beat.
