My partner and I have been to this little gem twice now. Dema (from Bhutan) is a charming waitress and has good knowledge of the menu. The restaurant is also BYO with a very modest corkage.
Food is cooked fresh and may take a little longer to come but is well worth the wait.We started with the Aloo Tikki (spiced potato patties with chat masala and a sweet and sour tamarind sauce) very nice , fresh and spicy as we liked it.
We shared a main course of Chicken Bhuna Masala (chicken cooked in a traditional gravy of onion, ginger, garlic and tomato) paired with a nice fluffy rice and a tasty butter naan.

You'll receive a complimentary bowl of papadums upon arrival. Something to nibble on as you browse the menu. You're never rushed. Plenty of time to relax and enjoy the company of friends or partner.
I encourage you to go beyond a butter chicken or korma. The Samosa Chat has become our standard entree. We can't move onto anything else. It's a party in your mouth. Creamy mint yoghurt sauce against the crunch of fresh vegetables. A little bit of heat as you enjoy the soft potatoes within the samosa. Order a mango lasi if you need help with a little spice.
Over the last view visits I've branched out and tried Paneer Tikka, Paneer Hariyali, Malai kebab curry and Dal tadka to name a few. All could be cooked mild for my Aussie palate. All were extremely tastey and value for money when how delicious they are is considered.
We often have left overs which we get packed up to become lunch at work the next day.

This was our first visit to this restaurant and it won't be our last. We will be working our way through the menu. The rich and beautiful flavour of all the dishes we tried were amazing.

It's a small, fairly new place, quite upmarket decor, not licensed. I ate there once before and found the palak paneer delicious, so went back again with family on a Sunday night. The waitress was very pleasant. Only one other couple there at 7.30pm, and only one other person came in to pick up a takeaway.
Our entree of samosas was definitely home made and deliciously flaky but rather oily. The mains were average to pleasant, but too hot for one of our party. We all asked for medium, but it's my personal opinion that the only way to change the heat of a curry sauce at the last minute is to add chilli powder - and that heat is not the same as the heat in a curry that has been cooked to a certain heat from the start.
Perhaps the answer might be to offer a hot chilli raita for anyone who wants to hot up their curry?
Our meal cost $30 per head with no drinks or corkage (we took nothing with us)

We have been here several times and been thru a rollercoaster ride of quality. On the last occasion I am afraid we have lost patience - food was poorly prepared (by their previous standards), tasted very ordinary. That said, the place was very busy with only one serive staff, so maybe the kitchen was under stress.......

Tried this restaurant as our usual Indian was was booked out for a function.
We were happy with the standard of the food but it was more like a cafe. We started with Aloo Tikki which was potato and chick peas with a sweet tamarind sauce which was a great starter and very tasty, our friends wanted onion bhaji which was not on the menu but they made for us. Mains consisted of Lamb Saagwata, tandori chicken, beef curry and chicken korma. The gravy that the dishes came in were very good and we had to order more rice to mop up what was left, could have done with a bit more meat in the beef curry but other than that we were happy with what we ordered.Would go back again although it was hard getting parking around this area.

Chawlas serves simply great Indian food, it is excellent. We had the tasting plate, goat Kadahi, mushroom mutter as well as naan bread. Each of the meals was a delight.
BUT the service, they need a lesson in service 101. It was slow, tiresome and a big let down on the meal. Even paying the bill was ridiculously slow, basic incompetence.
I sincerely hope that they improve their service as the meal was fantastic, but until the service improves, we will dine elsewhere.

We go there regularly and it has been always consistent.
Love the Panner do pyaza dish. Very authentic dhaba style curry reminds me of dhabas on Delhi highways.
The naan is fresh and really soft. We go to lots of Indian restaurants and love to try new ones but naan at Chawla are the best in Perth.
The staff are ever so sweet and always happy to accommodate any special requests.
We have been there fairly late a few times but they never push you to hurry.
Will definitely recommend!!!

We went to pick-up our order. The food was quite delicious and the naan bread was made well. The restaurant can do a bit better with the decor. Overall a good portion size for the price.

I've been to this Indian restaurant a few times with my family and partner - always a pleasant experience. The staff treat us very well and remember our names and favourite orders. Never had a problem with the food. Great food and service.

In a rush we decided to grab some Indian take away. We had seen Chawla's 2 open for a while but had not given it a go. Popped in and placed our takeaway order. 20 minutes later we had our fresh cooked butter chicken (medium), lamb rogan josh (medium), Chick peas, rice and two servings of plain naan. We did not mind the 20 minute wait as we knew that the food would be fresh.
The meal was great - full of flavour, and at medium, was tasty and spicy enough without having the mouth burn. The only criticism I would have (and this might be preference) is that the naan breads were a little on the stodgy side - we prefer them a little "crispier".
We have a few Indian take away places close by and so far this has proved the best.
The restaurant itself looked well set up, clean and we would not be adverse to actually having our dinner there.
