Don't know why but this was my 2nd bad experience in a row. Was not crowded so after being waiting for my meal, the bar tender ask how was it that I wasnt serve already. Finally the waitress went to the kitchen and found my...meal ticket was closed. 40 minutes after ordered the meal. Before this experience I went with my wife and after 10 minutes sitting at a table next to the bar no one offered not even water. We.left. too bad, when I got there on Wednesday the owner was there. I guess no supervision means poor service.More

Quaint place. Great local art on the wall. Food is amazing! ALL OF IT........seriously ALL OF IT. Take your time. If you want fast quick service then don't come here. IF you can "stop being an American" for an afternoon, and just take time to...enjoy the moment, then this place is awesome.....along with their food. Enjoy it!!More

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. My husband ordered the fried snapper stuffed with seafood and enjoyed it very much. I had the snapper filet which was great. We shared the assortment of Puerto Rican finger foods for an appetizer and all of the items...were delicious! The tres leches is one of the best I’ve had!More

We visited Don Pepe during our vacation at the beginning of June. It was close to our resort (Hyatt Grand Reserve) and we knew someone who lived in the area and this is the restaurant they recommended. The service was a bit slow (at least...compared to what we are used to in the states), but the food was delicious and reasonably priced! We had not experienced authentic Puertorican food yet and I am so glad this was our first experience. My daughter ordered the chicken mofongo with butter sauce, I had the plantain breaded chicken breast (like fried chicken but way better) and sweet plantains which were very good, my other daughter had the Mahi Mahi with coconut rice (so good), and my husband had the chicken breast in garlic sauce. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. As a side note, we also tried chicken and shrimp mofongos at Cafe Manolin in Old San Juan and they were terrible. Dry and no flavor. We are so glad that was not the first place we ate. I highly recommend Don Pepe. Just be patient because the food is worth it!More

Disappointing. Seated outdoors - Thurs. evening. Drink ordered. Food ordered. A group of loud drunks stepped over the wall from the Cantina next door to sit at table at this restaurant. The servers at this restaurant obviously knew these folks Loud and obnoxious. They ordered...food and weee served in 15 minutes while we still waited. One hour later- about 4 inches of rain and much drunken banter later- still no food. No updates on status of order. No offers for more drinks. After 10 more minutes we paid for drinks and left. Try anywhere else if you expect to eat.More

My husband and I are staying in rio grande on vacation and decided to try don Pepe. It’s only 10 minutes from Wyndham grand rio mar. The first time we came the food far exceeded our expectations we decided that we had to go back...again before we left. The food does take a little time to come out but they make everything fresh. You can’t beat that and let me tell you it’s worth the wait. I recommend the pechuga borincana. I never would have tried something like that in the states but let me tell you.......it’s a flavor explosion in your mouth. It’s a must if you’re in the area. Oh and the drinks..... you only need 1 :)More
