A must for anyone interested in the Earth's incredible history and a whole lot of fun.
A dinosaur-sized adventure that had me feeling like a curious kid again! As soon as you walk in, you're surrounded by towering dinosaurs and fascinating geological displays that transport you back in time. The hands-on exhibits and interactive displays make learning about natural history a blast. What makes this place truly special is the panoramic view of Salt Lake City from the top floor; it's like a reward for the journey through the museum. It's not just a museum; it's a day filled with wonder, learning, and even a touch of adventure.

    Every exhibit is great!
Great museum with an attractive layout and good views of the Valley. Liked the cafe and each floor of the museum! Underneath the migrating birds on the ceiling, is a map of the Great Salt Lake through the ages. The UGuest Wi-Fi is tricky to access because you need to enter your phone number as a username and an access code. If you have to switch screens to find the code, then the login disappears and you start over. Some of the staircases could be marked for those with low vision: add a stripe of paint across the top step and across the bottom step.

    Dinosaur Lover’s Dream
This place is a dinosaur lover’s dream!! I have never seen so many dinosaur skeletons in my life. I couldn’t even take it all in. I will have to come back with some of the boys in my family who are crazy about dinosaurs and would absolutely love it.

    Do not miss this museum
This was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had a museum. The exhibits are extremely interesting, appeal to all age levels, and provided a lot of information that I’ve never had before. The layout is very organized and the building is spectacular, a site to see in its own way. Has a lovely view of the mountains. Gift store is reasonably priced. And, no, I don’t work for them.

Great place with a great variety of displays
Huge place, but subject matter may be more interesting on some floors than others. If you want to see dinosaurs, check out floor 2. Native Americans, top floor. Geology, etc in between.

    Pleasant Surprise
I've been to some of the US's major natural history museums throughout my travels, so I was not expecting a lot from this little one here in Utah. I was, however, wrong in my assumptions and pleasantly surprised by the exhibits at the museum. It's a museum that mixes science, culture, and history both in general and location specific. I learned a lot about Utah's geology, dinosaurs, Natives, Great Salt Lake, and how global warming has affected the state. The exhibits that were more general were ones about the biology of life and gemstones. They also have a rotating exhibit every few months. When I went, it was about Jane Goodall. The museum is also very kid friendly and interactive- it has a bunch of activities for kids in the dinosaur area and interactive activities for all ages throughout the museum. It probably took us about 2 hours to go through it all.

A great place to spend indoors on a very hot SLC summer day
Really beautiful, spacious building perched on top of a hill in SLC with incredible views from every floor and every breezeway/ balcony. Really excellent exhibits with a range of interests, from minerals and geology to local animal specimens and dinosaur skeletons to climate change adaptations. We arrived before the museum opened and it was a bit difficult to determine where the entrance was (go down the ramp from the roundabout), but overall an excellent experience.

    Visit if you can!
Great way to spend a couple hours. Would recommend starting at the top floor and working your way down. There were a few interactive exhibits, the smell-a-vision ones were good for the plants but some of them need a bit more stink more juice!

Well thought out museum, with excellent dinosaur exhibits
Location: At the top of the University campus, it does not seem to be too accessible other than by car. Parking: Free outdoor parking on two tiers in front of the building. Parking seems limited so I don’t know what happens if overflow is needed. Inside: The building itself is meant to blend into the surrounding desert landscape, and although not large, it is bigger than it appears. It is organized as a pathway from lower floors to the top, instead of letting visitors wander through rooms at random. The best part, in my opinion, is the very large dinosaur exhibit which is a path through two levels. There are also numerous interactive displays throughout that helps to keep visitors engaged. Beyond that are exhibits that focus on things like local nature, wildlife, rock and indigenous history. Other: A very small store and cafe at lower level. There is also a rooftop deck for a view. Overall: It’s worth a visit. Good for 2-3 hours of your time.

Great Displays Especially the Fossil Collection
This is a lovely Natural History museum! It has a location kind of out of the city at an elevated spot. Great view (especially from the rooftop where you can go to learn about solar energy). There are exhibits about dinosaurs, Utah’s natural world (which had some bugs on display), native cultures, animals, and more. We were there for at least 4 hours. The set up of the museum is great too. Not confusing to navigate too, but set up in a way that you don’t miss stuff or need to look too hard. The dinosaur/fossil section is definitely the highlight. The wall of ceratopsians is particularly fascinating. Highly recommended!
