A modern wonder of the world
I've been to many of the great buildings in the US and Europe. The NE state capitol in Lincoln has a place among the most spectacular. It is resplendent in detail and monumentally constructed. There are spacious halls, ornate gilded murals, and sequestered alcoves throughout. You can ascend to the top just to below the dome. If you are impressed at all by architecture, you will be moved and never forget it.

    Visiting the Nebraska State Capital
Great trip. We arrived at approximately 4 pm and made our way inside the capital. There were tours being held on the hour, every hour, so we hopped on the 4 pm tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and took us from room to room, explaining the various features located throughout the capitol. We were also able to learn some background information on how the capital was built. The tour guide then took us to one of the top floors of the capital, where we went outside to the observation deck and were able to see sweeping views of the town below us. Tip: I recommend spending 1 hour here if you truly want to see everything.

    State capitol as cathedral
Worth seeing for architecture alone. Guy who designed this did a lot of churches - very evident as soon as you step inside the great hall. Excellent murals - especially if you have a good zoom. You get to see the basic workings of all branches although the executive was closed for some sort of reno when I toured. Did take the free guided tour and it provided useful background information even as I sometimes wandered a bit to take photos - occasionally delved into minutiae but generally worth paying attention to. You can ascend to the 14th floor for panoramic views.

    Tour This Beautiful Capitol Building
Our friends from Lincoln, recommended touring the State Capitol Building while we were in town. There are free tours available on the hour in the afternoon. We parked near the building and had a short walk to enter the building. We were able to take in the sites on our own before the tour began. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. He was able to share insights into the history, architecture and artworks throughout the building. We were able to look in both the legislative chamber and the supreme court. the governor's space was off limits because of some remodeling being done. We were able to go to the top of the building and look out over the grounds. It is an amazing space. It also home to the Nebraska Hall of Fame with busts of famous Nebraska recipients of the honor.

    Quick exterior stop
We arrived on a Sunday so only the grounds were available. Our impression was the structure had the famous Empire state building feel architecture-wise. Not as grand as the Des Moines capitol building that we saw earlier in the day. Grounds small and clean but after previous stop it is uneventful.

    Stunning building, free tour
I had read a lot into the paranormal history of this building so I wanted to visit. No ghost stories but they offer a free history and architecture tour of the inside. You enter on the main entrance side either up the outside stairs to the second floor (leads you right to the tour office) or you can go in on the ground level and there are indoor stairs up (which will let you out down the hall from the office). It is an absolutely gorgeous building with stunning artwork and design. The tour focuses in on the history of the building as well as the history and meanings of the artwork and architecture. I’m not usually very interested in that kind of stuff but this was a very interesting and informative tour. The guides were knowledgeable and did a good job - we had one permanent guide and a training guide who was learning and she did great too. Even if you don’t take one of their free tours at least walk in and see it because it’s stunning.

    Wonderful Capitol Tour
We visited the Nebraska State Capitol on a Saturday morning in August. Street parking was easy on Saturday, and we enjoyed a walk around the outside of the building. When the building opened, we found a professional and knowledgeable tour guide who obviously loves her topic. We enjoyed learning about the history of the building and the details of the gorgeous public areas. The tile floors, columns, arches, and mosaics work beautifully together to create a magnificent space. The observation deck was open on the 13th floor to enjoy views of Lincoln. This was our 50th state capitol tour -- a nice ending to our capitol journeys.

    NE State Capitol
The Nebraska State Capitol is situated on K Street in Lincoln. We visited on a Sunday with ample free parking and arrived just in time to join a tour. The Capitol was designed in 1920 and is the second-tallest statehouse in the US. The interior is very beautiful with much artwork. The tour had much emphasis on the different works and the artists behind it and we especially enjoyed the beautiful mosaic of the Rotunda floor. Also it was possible to visit the observation decks on the 14th floor and as we visited on a sunny and clear day the views from here were excellent.
