Crystal clear water with snorkeling, bbq lunch, island experience what more would you want!
This is a great way to see the lagoon and enjoy a fun filled day trip to snorkeling and an island lunch. We were picked up from outside our hotel and headed out to a small island where we were able to stretch our legs while the crew got fresh coconuts from the island. We then headed out to the reef where we were able to go snorkeling with some large trevalli and other smaller fish - even a few large clams to be seen. The water wasn’t that warm so we didn’t stay in too long. After about 40 mins we headed to One Foot Island where we had lunch and were able to do our own thing. My wife and myself walked around the outside of the island - took about 40 mins but got to see lots of things - make sure you wear boat shoes or good shoes as the coral is sharp. The staff were island friendly and sang beautiful island songs for us. For $140 per person we thought it was good value.

    Aitutaki's best
This six-hour cruise to One Foot Island was the highlight of our week’s stay on Aitutaki. It’s a marvellous experience. Here you get the tropics of your dreams – sailing through stunning turquoise water with great views from the aluminium catamaran’s upper deck, walking on brilliant white sands and wading through silver shallows on the way to small islands dotted with palm trees. Then, once the craft is anchored onshore, you can snorkel among the coral with good quality flippers and mask provided by the crew. They also have life jackets for children, even little ones. There are plenty of colourful little fish and some larger trevally within the coral, and a turtle if you’re lucky. The Bishop’s lunch ashore is a glutton’s delight, including big servings of barbequed tuna steaks. The staff aboard Bishop’s cat are a delight in themselves. Our MC Matu and her offsiders entertained us on our return with local stories and island songs on ukulele and drum. They were freewheeling, warm and entertaining, and even sang nursery rhymes for the children. It’s one of the cheaper tours to One Foot Island, and for my money the best.

Private charter perfect for families with small kids
We booked a private half day charter for four adults and two small kids (under 4 years old) as we figured the full day cruises would be way too much for them to handle. Bishops picked us up from our accomodation, delivered us to our waiting captain and we were on our way into the lagoon. Visited two islands for a walk and the sandbar and one amazing snorkelling spot. We also snorkelled off the coast of one foot island and it was fab. Our lovely captain left us to determine what we enjoyed/didn’t enjoy and it was the perfect option for our group. If you’ve got small kids, this half day option is fabulous!

    Heaven on earth.
Absolutely stunning!!! This was the highlight of our 4 day stay on Aitutaki. Experiencing Aitutaki from the water takes it to another level. The cruise was beautiful with the visit to One Foot island a highlight. Make sure if you are able, to walk the sandbar onto the island after the snorkelling. That in itself is a unique experience. It is about a 1k walk, not 200 metres as the staff jokingly tell you, but was well worth it You are able to buy a cold drink on board to take on the walk and the lunch that awaits you on the island was delicious and filling. Fresh salads, BBQ fish and plenty of it. The staff were friendly and funny, and ensured everyone had a superb day. We saw giant clams, Giant Trevally and Spotted Eagle rays during the snorkelling, as well as other marine life. Also make sure you take your passport to get the One Foot Island stamp added.

    Simply the best!
This was the best day of our holiday! The cruise takes you to some amazing crystal-clear turquoise waters, it was absolutely stunning. The team were funny, engaging and very helpful. They put on the best lunch at One Foot Island with piles of perfectly prepared fresh fruit and vegetables. 100% would do this cruise again next time we are in Aitutaki.

    The Local's Favorite Tour
One nice thing about taking Bishop's cruises vs. The Vaka is that you are not waiting for the morning flight to arrive in order to leave. Our tour left earlier and since it was a smaller boat it was able to come right up onto the land rather than requiring another transfer to the motus via a raft. Kimi the tour operator was an island native and we enjoyed his jokes, stories and ukulele music on the way back. The boat was pretty simple but it had a toilet and upper sundeck. Towels, life jackets and snorkeling equipment were provided. The crew cooked a BBQ lunch on One Foot Island which was delicious. All drinks cost extra (beer, soft drinks, water). Definitely bring your own filled water bottle and NZD$ to buy drinks. We didn't really need reef shoes as we were mostly at sandy beaches. Bring lots of sunblock, hat, etc. too. Make sure to look for the giant clams while snorkeling, and take lots of photos while on One Foot Island, possibly the most beautiful beach in the world.

    2 Person Charter
We did the 2 person full day private charter. Definitely the way to go. Our skipper was a great guy. Very informative and knowledgeable. Visited plenty of islands and drove straight onto each beach. Tons of time to swim and explore as the boat is so much faster than the big boats. Highly recommended
