    A Royal Palace!
Very nice, very important place. After years if not decades of renovation, you can see the ridiculous French iron house again, a gift from the Empress Eugenie that was supposed to showcase French superiority and manages to underline the opposite. I think it is a great monument to modern Khmer artistic accomplishments (we do know about Angkor) and well worth the visit. Be sure to check out the Ramakien frescoes which are better than the ones in the Bangkok Grand Palace in every respect - I mention this because of the often unfavorable comparison.

    Disappointed but perhaps better later
The buildings are truly spectacular and the proximity to the Mekong and other sites gives this site appeal. However there is a lot restoration still going on which takes away from the beauty of some structures. The signage around the grounds and in buildings is nonexistent or poor (mostly) the former which takes away from the enjoyment. Price seems high for something that can be done in 40-60 minutes

A must visit in Phnom Penh
The Royal Palace at Phnom Penh is definitely worth visiting, with the impressive, extravagant Throne Hall used for coronations and ceremonies and the Silver Pagoda with its silver floor and large collection of Buddhas made of precious metals and gemstones, and housing the magnificent Emerald Buddha being the main attractions. The walls around the Silver Pagoda are adorned with a fabulous mural depicting the Indian epic Ramayana. In the grounds are also various stupa, the Chan Chaya Pavilion and a building described as a dressing room, holding a collection of Royal household costumes and associated objects. As this is the official residence of the king, many parts of the palace are not open to the public. Photography is permitted in the grounds of the palace but not inside the Throne Hall or Silver Pagoda. Suitable clothing that cover knees and shoulders should be worn. An enjoyable hour or so.

    Phenomenal Phnom Penh Royal Palace
What better way to spend Cambodia's 70th Independence Day, than by visiting The Royal Palace. Well equipped for tourists, no rush can take your time. No hidden costs & complimentary water on exit. Beautiful site/history/architecture/gardens. Should you forget to wear appropriate clothing, shoulders & knees covered, trousers & t.shirts can be purchased for a nominal charge. Refreshments can also be purchased within the grounds.

    Architectural feast
This is a great way to see Cambodian architecture in one place. The gardens are very well maintained, and it is also a good location to get in those special touristy photographs. Check the timings with the locals before you go to the palace. There are a lot of days that it is not open and they only allow entry between 8.30am to 10.30am and then from 2.30pm to 4pm. The timing is also likely to change daily. Still worth the effort as the architecture is superb and there are a lot of beautiful buildings in close proximity.

    Quite fascinating
Do get the guide for extra 10$ or else little will make sense. The guide was very good and gave us a lot of info about the building, the king, the cultural life of Cambodia, as well as the buildings and exhibits we were looking at. It is all quite fascinating, especially the Silver Pagoda. Found some nice souvenirs at the exit store. And cats, a whole lot of cats. Photos allowed in most places, but not in the Silver Pagoda. Wear clothes that cover your shoulders and knees.

    Excellent condition traditional Khmer palace
Thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Allow at least 1 hour to explore the pavilions and gardens. We had Red an English speaking guide who was excellent. He was informative and enthusiastic providing just enough information to keep the flow interesting. Red was available at the ticket booth. Try not to listen to the touters outside that the palace is shut for official business. Check at the ticket booth as it is rarely closed all day. Recommended to visit early morning or late afternoon when it is cooler as alot of outdoor walking. No air con.

    Nice place to visit
Beautiful place to visit. Not sure if there was an audio guide available as we were on a tour so had our own guide but definitely worth getting it if there is. You could spent a couple of hours here, grounds are lovely. Temples so wear shoes you can easily slip off. No shorts or bare shoulders.

Don’t get misguided that royal palace is closed.
Entrance is very inconspicuous near one end the compound. Silver pagoda artefacts are amazing. Look for silver floor tiles, gold Buddha statue with real diamonds some are upto 25 carat weight. Don’t forget to see elephant capturing murals in a hall left to the exit.

    Steep price for restricted access
A nice palace with a lot of interesting things to see. However, a dampener is the fact that many of the areas are cordoned off and access in not allowed. One can understand if the access were restricted to areas used by the royal family; but entire areas of the gardens were cordoned off. Many other halls in the palace were barred for entry. So it does get frustrating- after paying a steep entry fee of 10 USD. It is a place worth seeing, but be prepared to feel a bit shortchanged.
