Be prepared to use up some physical strength, but the view is amazing!
It's spacious and thick. It takes a lot of stamina to walk around the vast grounds in February (midsummer) when temperatures are over 41 degrees! This was especially true since we walked there from the center of Perth. However, the view of the Perth cityscape across the Swan River from the high ground was amazing.

    Kings Park Walking Tour
The free walking tour is great. Lead by a volunteer guide with plenty of knowledge. It’s all about the flora and fauna really with a little bit of history thrown in. A gorgeous spot to walk around, sit in the shade or just relax to take it all in. Great views back to the city of Perth. The walk took approx 1.5 hours and is an easy stroll even for the elderly. Well worth it.

    Highlight of Perth
What a beautiful place in an amazing location. While a very hot day, the shady areas and breezes made in more tolerable. There are many different paths and the walking not difficult. Clearly can accommodate a wide range of mobility and fitness.

It's a nice place, but people with hay fever should be careful!
I took a leisurely stroll through the park. It's very large, so you'll need a map. The temperature was over 30°C on the day I visited, but the humidity was low, so it was nice to walk. The view from the hills is amazing. Perth is a beautiful city with good weather, but it seems like there's some kind of pollen flying around all year round. I had terrible allergies the whole time I was in Perth, and I inhaled a lot of pollen, especially in the botanical gardens. If you don't have allergies, it's a really nice place.

    Wonderful
Absolutely fabulous. Went twice during our week in Perth. Plants are wonderful as are the views. A great place just to relax in and so easy to get to with the Cat. We had a really nice lunch here too - lots of options in the restaurant at reasonable prices. We loved it.

    Lovely space to explore.
A lovely place to wander round by day or night. The view of the city is great and also allows you to see the river at its best. There are several areas within the park to see different things and the café is a good starting place.

A must go to in Perth.
Most try and get there in Australian springtime. Marvellous and so much to see and learn Thanks a million our guide Del, paced at a speed and depth of knowledge ...wow. Bit too hot for me at 81 y.o., in February but managed ok taking a slow pace. Can't believe what great value the park is too, entry, parking and guide free, wouldn't happen in the UK! Only seen about 20% so must return. Please make a contribution in the Information Bureau to keep this excellant facility functioning. Thanks volunteers too.

    Kings Park
Kings Park is HUGE! Luckily, they have this awesome shuttle bus for tired parents (bless them). The kids loved exploring the winding paths and giant trees – perfect for playing hide-and-seek and pretending they were explorers. Gift shop was a hit, but beware: you'll end up buying a weirdly realistic stuffed possum. Worth it for the peace and quiet on the ride home.

    A wonderful park to visit
A must do if in Perth and it is nice weather. We walked from CBD, taking Lottery West Federation Walkway, to Kokadi Steps -this is all uphill. The gardens are lovely. I wanted to see the baobab tree, a 760+ year old tree, transplanted from the Kimberleys. There is also a smaller tree a few feet away. We lunched in the cafe (there are 2 areas with different menus) and then wandered back across the park to the glass bridge which was very cool and around to the lookouts.

One of our favourite stops in Perth
Whenever we visit Perth we end up visiting King's Park at least once. ON this most recent visit we were there twice. Amazing views looking over Perth CBD. Immaculately kept grass area and war memorial. Some wonderful walks laid out through the botanical gardens. Grab a free map from the information shop.

  • Swan River Hotels
Perth's favourite playground, the Swan River is a stunning waterway which winds its way from the Darling Scarp to Fremantle. This natural attraction is popular location for Perth locals and visitors to enjoy a day out boating, fishing, skiing, paddling, swimming, picnicking or simply enjoying its vista.Rich in environmental and cultural values, the Swan River was named Derbal Yerrigan by the local Aboriginals who believe that the river was created by the rainbow serpent ‘Waugal’, a dreamtime spirit taking the form of a giant snake. It is believed that the Waugal created creeks, waterholes, lakes and valleys on its journey to the ocean.
