- agusofia1Rubi, Spain4 contributionsVisit and family tour with an emotional charge for past historyWe were on the Constitution Bridge. We found snowy Krakow and an expected cold but less than we imagined. We really liked it and we walked around every day, we made cultural and gastronomic visits in the city and we visited the concentration camps of Auschwitz-Birkenau Very sad visit although it is part of history and you get more of an idea of what it was from the movies that almost all of us have seen. We could not enter the Schnidler factory, it was Sunday and we had to wait in line and we preferred to take advantage of the day Do not visit the Jewish quarter on Saturday as the synagogues are closed. Lots of atmosphere in the market square with many stops, especially for food and mulled wine. It is worth going up to the Basilica of Santa Maria and curious to be able to hear the sound of the trumpet of its watch and the history that relates it. We visited the Wawel castle, the cathedral, the old Ghetto, etc. The truth is that since it was all snowy and it was not very cold, we were in a very beautiful environment close to the festivities Christmas. On our tours and wandering around we improvised for lunch and dinner and we made stops to have a hot chocolate or coffee and rest. A city and its excursions that you can visit and explore if you can spend three whole days since everything is very concentrated and close. .All the bestVisited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten January 26, 2024
- petergab10Melbourne, Australia686 contributionsDefinitely worth a visit while in KrakowPersonally, l think it is an advantage to do some research on Kazmierz Jewish District to have a better understand of its past history before visiting the area. As you will know what and where the points of interest are if you decide to explore the area. Walking around the area you will notice the beautiful old buildings which look exactly like they did a few decades ago and yes you will also see some rundown buildings which just adds to the character of the area. Synagogues, Jewish Cemetery, Eagle Pharmacy which can be found on the corner of Heroes Square, the beautiful Church of the Brothers Hospitallers, Jewish and Tram Museums, some of Schindler's List movie was shoot in the area, Father Bernatek Footbridge, Great Street Art, Cafes, Restaurants, Bars, Plac Nowy a great place to try a zapiekanki, Street Food Vans l did like the Judah Food Market the dog food truck, A visit is a great way to experience a totally different atmosphere with many photo opportunities. It's about a 10 min walk from Heroes Square to visit Oskar Schindler's Enamel Factory. Ghetto Wall Fragment 12-metre stretch of the original wall. And some great street art nearby.Visited November 2023Traveled soloWritten February 12, 2024
- Megan J39 contributionsHistorical spot with lots of opportunities to learn something new.A really beautiful place which is enthralled in history. I agree with previous reviews, it is a good idea to read up about it before visiting to really understand the context. Would highly recommend having a wander round here.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 20, 2024

- Anna SMalaysia861 contributionsKazimierz - Historic Jewish community settlement with many relics of a once flourishing communityThere are several synagogues, meeting rooms, a museum, a cemetery... Simply stroll around the alleys and passageways and try to catch a bit of the atmosphere that once prevailed here. An affair that - depending on your interests - can take a whole day. Once a refuge for Jews who were welcomed with open arms by King Casimir (Kazimierz Wielki, 1333-70) in Poland and settled here outside the gates of Krakow, it is now developing more and more into a party and nightlife area for young Krakow residents. The latter - fleeing from the Rynek and the high prices caused by the masses of tourists - give this part of the city a very special flair. The Polish way of life still exists here, because tourists and Travniks are (thank God) rarely here. Especially at Plac Nowy, the streets leading into it and in various backyards, you can find a density of bars/pubs/restaurants/snack bars like nowhere else in the city. Overall, a very relaxed atmosphere. Things are a little more dignified (and also more expensive) on Ulica Szeroka. Actually more of a square than a street, there are a number of higher-priced restaurants and cafΓ©s here, where you can occasionally hear klezmer bands in the evenings.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten April 28, 2024
- kouksaAmancey, France72 contributionsMagnificent neighborhoodHistoric Jewish quarter of Krakow, this is a particularly frequented and lively area. The Remu synagogue and especially its very old cemetery are magnificent. Lots of restaurants, bars, shops. A must see in Krakow.Visited May 2024Traveled soloWritten May 3, 2024
- GlobeTrotting784754Lisburn, United Kingdom16 contributionsBetter restaurants and bars than the old townBy far the most interesting part of the city, filled with great value and quality restaurants and bars. And of course the synagogues, most of which are now museums rather than actual places of worship. This part of the city is a bit more bohemian than the touristy old town at night.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 8, 2024
- fitzbenedictStockholm, Sweden6,573 contributionsWonderful neighborhood!Next to the Old Town is the Jewish quarter which was a highlight for me. This is more authentic and less touristy than the center. One should see or visit the old synagogue, sit down in the adjacent square and eat or drink and stroll around. There are nice bars, restaurants, ice cream parlors and cafes everywhere. In Nowy Square you should try the typical toasted bread zapiekanka with different fillings. A neighborhood to return to and discover more!Visited May 2024Traveled soloWritten May 16, 2024
- Steph L14 contributionsBeautiful place. We stayed in Kazmierz and it was a wonderful place. It has such a lovely atmosphere and some beautiful buildings. It has a very lively nightlife and lots of bars where the drinks are pretty cheap. There are numerous places to eat and I particularly enjoyed eating at Ed Red, Cafe Kladka and Restauracja Broo. A visit to the nearby Krakow Old town is recommended where I particularly enjoyed seeing Leonardo da Vinci's Lady With An Ermine painting at KrakΓ³wβs Czartoryski Museum and the fabulous Cloth Hall.Visited June 2024Traveled with friendsWritten August 7, 2024
- VadinimaTorrejon De Ardoz, Spain321 contributionsDon't miss it.We have been visiting Poland for a week and I think if we had been better informed, we would have chosen to spend much more time here. I recommend doing a previous Free Tour, to place yourself and then, in successive days discover it in its breadth. History, architecture, gastronomy, atmosphere, march, music, places to get lost. Unfortunately we lacked much time to enjoy it. For us, the best of Krakow. Do not miss it in any way.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 17, 2024
