It was great to come back to The Clive and be in gorgeous Shropshire. It's always our first choice to stay when we visit - very convenient and consistently good. We stayed in one of the new rooms in the main building - we like what they've done to the place! The rooms are very comfortable and stylish and very well-priced. we'll be back for sure.

Staff were friendly, efficient and welcoming - especially Dana and Caroline. Bedroom was spotlessly clean, a good size and beautiful with everything you might need. Bar and restaurant lovely and tables well spaced out. Ate here both nights as food was amazing. Short walk to cafe for breakfast - again great service and good food. Good location to visit Ludlow - £7 for a taxi, hourly bus service (but we found it unreliable) or lovely walk through a country estate (about an hour walk) Highly recommend.

Visited for Sunday lunch with family and very disappointed. I had roast beef - the meat was very tender and tasty but the veg was so overcooked and like something that had been sitting under Toby carvery warmers for hours. My wife had the burger which was under-seasoned and dull, served on a stale brioche bun with a small portion of overcooked chips. She asked for ketchup and was brought a dollop of Heinz - not the Ludlow Farm Shop ketchup which we’ve had in the past. My mother in law chose the fish which looked very good and our desserts were lovely. However for £90 and based on the reputation of this place, I’d expected much better. We won’t be back.

I enjoyed my stay at this friendly inn. The food was hearty and delicious. My flat-iron steak was well cooked and tender and my starter salad was inventive and crunchy. I enjoyed local ale. The staff were always friendly and attentive. The next-door café provides breakfasts and the farm shop was great for picnic lunches (it's really a deli for local foods).

The Clive Arms is part of a complex on the outskirts of Ludlow comprising an inn/restaurant, rooms around a courtyard, cafe, plant shop and gallery. The accommodation is motel style: you drive up, park and enter your room without troubling reception. We stayed in Room 1 which is adapted for access. It is spacious but phone signal and wifi are very poor (inaccessible on my Mac). The exterior is lit with flood lights at night which renders the window coverings in the room inadequate (venetian blinds). To block out very bright light, it is necessary to deploy the spare blankets. The restaurant and bar area is pleasant and staff helpful. The food is very good (we had lamb and trout, both well cooked). If you have a £30 inclusive dinner allowance, eat all you can for that because drinks are not covered in the allowance. Breakfast is taken in the Ludlow kitchen cafe which is adjacent. Tea and coffee are "free" to guests ie included in your overall charge. The setting is a bit sterile but the food is satisfactory. The Clive Arms is an adequate place to stay but a 5 star hotel (as it is described on some websites), it is not.

Good afternoon DrofchulD, Thank you for taking the time, I really appreciate your feedback! We don't advertise our selves as a 5 star hotel and don't ask other websites to do so. The reason why we provide a contact-less check-in, is to reduce the amount of people having to come to the bar to check in. We are all still wearing masks and our tables are still separated further apart as usual as we are still very cautious that the pandemic is not over and we want to take every step that we can to not only keep our guests safe, but also our members of staff. With regards to the phone signal, you are correct, we are in the country side and it is sometimes hit and miss, depending on which network you are on. Our wifi was working that day and after we helped you connect your phone, I did offer to help with your laptop, but was left high and dry. I am pleased that you enjoyed your dinner with us on the evening and as you have rightly pointed out it is a Dinner allowance from our a la carte menu. I wish you all the best on your future staycations and hopefully we will be able to welcome you back soon! Dana
