Our room was tastefully furnished and had comfortable beds. The bathroom was on the small side but perfectly adequate with a good shower. There was good storage space with plenty of hangers. The rooms and reception area are kept spotlessly clean. The hot water seems to be turned off each day during the afternoon until around 5pm, probably for energy saving? The Wi-Fi is very good, both within the rooms and in the public areas. There are no kettles or team making facilities in the room so take your own if you like a morning brew. I didn’t come across an iron in the room but there is a hairdryer and a small fridge.
The pool area is good with comfortable loungers. There are the usual sad, early morning towel reservations but on the few days we spent by the pool, we always managed to find a couple of loungers together.
The included breakfast at the Zeus Hotel is very poor just as others have described it. However, if you opt to buy breakfast, we had perfectly good omelettes for around 4/5 Euros. The eating area around the pool bar is quite tired and there were flies and wasps in abundance whilst we were there. However, there is a nice veranda with tables and chairs just outside the pool entrance where it is much more pleasant to sit and eat.
The majority of the staff are friendly and helpful, just one unpleasant gentleman who looks after the pool bar in the afternoon.
At the pool area in the afternoons there is rather loud music played. If, like me, you relish the luxury of time to read a book and have an afternoon snooze, you might find it difficult.
We spent most of our holiday at My Place which is just across the main road. They serve an excellent breakfast and you can use their lovely pool area all day as long as you spend at least 8 Euros per person (and the music isn’t as loud).
We had a late flight so we were able to reserve a late room until 7pm for 25 Euros.
Just outside the hotel grounds, there is a cafe called Tea 4 Two where they serve a very good breakfast.
The surrounding area is rather quiet but has plenty of very good restaurants within walking distance. (Hippocrates, Scorpio, Harry’s, Antonio’s).
The beach is pebble and shingle. There were plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas at different points along the beach and the sea is very clear. We didn’t see any clear signs to indicate a way onto the beach so we just walked along the main road until we found an opening.
In summary, a reasonably priced hotel in a quiet area
To the person who gave Zeus hotel such negatives remarks it is Not a 70s age group only, there were families with young children, family with teenagers and some young men, also couples, you must have been staying somewhere else. Would I say again, yes, most definitely. Thank you Zeus Hotel. Best Regards Hilary
I booked through Hotels.com because they offered a better rate than the property quoted me when I contacted them directly. Greece is the only country that I've been to where A/C may be charged separately, so I was careful to book a property that included it. When I checked in, I was told I would have to pay 6€ per day for A/C. Under the terms of Hotels.com, there was no surcharge for the use of the A/C. On my second day there, I showed the terms to the owner, Nikko, and his brother, but was told I "made a mistake." It was then clear to me that my mistake was booking this property. Their mistake is not monitoring what third-party booking sites offer on their behalf. They wanted me to spend my precious vacation time calling a third-party website I had never of (who apparently works with Hotels.com) to prove to me that I should pay a surcharge for the A/C. Instead, I called Hotels.com, got a refund for the rest of my stay and checked out early. Luckily, even in high season, it was easy to find a more suitable accommodation.
I could put up with the dusty floor, paper thin doors and the twin beds pushed together instead of a proper double bed, but not with the arguments and aggravation. Do yourself a favor and avoid this hotel.
Sea to the left. The bathroom was modern and very clean with towels and soap provided. A small fridge also in room.
The bar was also bright and modern and Nick the barman was very welcoming and entertaining all week.
Pool area is clean and plenty sunbeds available at the time we were there (mid October) .
Breakfast was simple but tasty, buffet style with toast and ham, cheese, tomato and hard boiled egg with juice, tea or coffee.
We had a late flight so opted to keep on our room for €25.
It was maybe a 20 min walk into the harbour area with restaurants etc and 15 mins along to the ruins and the sunbeds we used for the day (€10)
We did a day in Kos Town - booked with Z tours - €15 pp - well worth it!
We ate out at a different place every night, Every meal was delicious and good value.
We loved this hotel and will be back in the future.
