We stayed 3D2N here on their deluxe room (no.15). The resort itself was beautiful, nice garden, no beach but with amazing sunset view. All staff are friendly and polite.
There's no cellular signal here so you will depend on the resorts wifi in their restaurant for connection. There are no stores within walking distance from the resorts - only other resorts with same price range.

Our room didn't have a bathroom door- only a see through curtain, we tried asking for a longer and solid curtain but they don't have any. The door of our room was a sliding glass door with non functioning lock - we raised our concern to the staff but they just suggested lifting it a little when closing.. it didn't work and we got tired telling them about it. Fortunately there is a functioning small safe in the room to keep our valuables.

Their restaurant serves good food but very pricey by filipino standards. Overall it is a nice hotel but not recommended for filipino budget travellers.

This hotel is a cute and quiet place to stay if you are going on an adventure. It's pretty basic which is expected of an eco-retreat. Remember to bring a good bug spray because your room will be surrounded by lush, tropical plant life.

Wifi does not work in this area and the hotel wifi is not very strong. Just an fyi if you are planning to work remotely.

The staff was very kind and friendly and they had good food. Considering how affordable the price is, it's a good value for your money.

Great place to escape and enjoy the nature greenery. We had great time to relax in its environment and the food. Staff are very helpful and friendly. There is a deck by seashore can watch sunset and unwind your moment. Highly recommend this place when you travel to Camiguin Island.

Stayed at the sea view bungalow unit. Housekeeping needs to be more attentive to cleaning the place, even more so because of the natural surroundings. The hammock was dirty with droppings probably from some animal (and not removed throughout my stay there). One of the pillow cases was obviously not changed because it smelled of someone's scalp! Absolutely disgusting. No blanket provided, just a bed sheet as a blanket (maybe the resort thought the cool sea breeze did not warrant a blanket?). There was constant "black droppings" at the foot of bed, presumably from the bamboo roof, because they placed a straw mat on the mosquito net right above the bed. And the same "black droppings" in the bathroom sink and floor too. Reasonably, expect insects like geckos on the roof/bamboo poles (so be aware, if you are not so into nature). The safe in the room was not working. The lock on the sliding door needed some added pushing to make sure it was locked properly, and since the bungalow is facing the beach, anyone can access the unit easily (no security fence or wall). And a warning: expect to be waken by the very loud engines from the boats passing by in the early mornings.

Diving prices were way overpriced. The package to Mantigue Island was definitely overpriced and not worth it. Lunch provided was only one sausage and a piece of fish fillet with rice. And there wasn't even any hot drinks (divers surely appreciate a hot drink after diving in 25deg waters!). For the price (P3,900 excluding eqpt), surely better food and hot drinks cannot be too much of a demand.

This Resort is the worst place to stay in Camiguin. The owners are totally bad german people and absolutely non professional...they only want your money and they will try to rip you off wherever they can!

Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. Camiguin is really beautiful, but avoid to stay here. We still regret our stay here so much, it almost ruined our holiday.

They will try to sell you some kind of tour/hike which is not worth the money or the will offer you a dive at their housereef. Honestly their housereef is really bad and not worth a dive.

Stay somewhere else, or just take a boat to white island or wherever you want to go on your own.

Don't spend your money here!!!

We stayed here for two nights. We went for an ocean view room and the view when we stepped out was beautiful. Lovely surroundings, sea and lush garden with hammocks. Food in restaurant was good and staff were extremely helpful. We did a hike between the two volcanoes through the resort and it was brilliant. Stunning views that were well worth the hike. Would recommend staying here for a few days.

My friends and I really expected a quiet and beautiful resort when we booked here. It seemed decent enough. But really, it was the worst experience we ever had staying in a hotel since the staff was very rude and unprofessional. Even shouting at me for complaining about their behavior. If you don't have the time to read the review, the negatives are: very rude staff (watch out for this bald diving instructor who'll ruin your vacation), no cellular signal, there's no door that divides the room and the comfort room. So, you have staff rudeness, and amenities sorely lacking. I explain:

1. Unprofessional staff
So the background is that my friends originally booked a room for 3 people. Since I tagged along last minute, we decided to ask the hotel if we can get an extra bed.

When we checked-in, they have a strict "no extra beds in the room" policy. Meaning, that there can only be 3 people in the room since that's what they booked. So that meant that I had to get their available room (that time, the available room was good for 2 people), or stay in a neighboring hotel which had cheaper rates. It was fine for me either way, and since we still weren't sure which option to choose, my friends just checked in. We'd decide later after the day's activities (we had a schedule to follow).

When we returned at night,a bit tired from the whole day trip, we were met at the lobby by a staff member barring the way to the room. She told us about their strict policy, and that I couldn't go in the room. She did this without greeting us at all. We were surprised she was so combative. Naturally, we were irritated. She just jumped into the conclusion that we'd break hotel policy. In fact, we just wanted to go to the room to get more money to pay for our tour driver. When we pointed to her that fact, that I wasn't planning to stay in the room (it was still 8 PM, not even sleeping time!), and that we had to get money to pay our tour driver, she said that she knows we'll be breaking hotel policy since we weren't even trying to find another room. My friend was promptly angry, because she had no right to jump into conclusions. I was just speechless because I didn't expect this rude behavior. She wasn't even trying to pacify us at all, even challenging us to speak to her supervisors.

We decided to go to a neighboring hotel to book, but unfortunately, the whole island was experiencing electricity blackout, so we had to go back and we just booked the available room at their resort. My friends went to their room, and I asked if the owners/manager was around. She said no. That's when this bald man (I think he was Australian from his accent, 40ish-50ish) went to us. The staff said to talk to him.

THAT'S WHEN ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE. He ranted to me about how their hotel was very strict, and if we had a problem with it, then that was our fault, not theirs. He proceeded to defend the staff, and he told me, when I tried to explain my side, that I was the one who was insulting. I tried to keep my temper in check, even as he was provoking me. But every time I tried to talk to him, he dismissed me and told me that I was insulting. Finally, I saw that the conversation was pointless (and I could see that he might punch me), so I backed off. Never in my life have I ever met such a rude and insulting person. He didn't apologize for his behavior, and even teased me by mimicking what I was saying and doing (really, are we children in a playground?).

I don't understand at all, because the hotel policy wasn't a problem with us , but the way it was conveyed was VERY DISRESPECTFUL, downright INSULTING. We were paying customers, in fact, we paid an extra room to accommodate their policy. When I tried to tell that to him, that we were actually paying customers, he just said that I was the one who was insulting. Maybe it's a bit unfair, but I don't think it's a priority for an angry hotel guest to pacify the hotel staff (I might be crazy here, but isn't it the other way around?).

Given how unproductive it was going, I just walked off. I later found out that he was the resort's diving instructor. Granted that he's not exactly part of the hospitality industry, he still should be trained in basic hospitality management. Or you know, just trained on how to be a decent human being.

The staff are the worst. Sure, the view is great, the room was clean, but our experience in their resort was ruined by their attitude. Such a waste, especially since (reading tripadvisor), they have points on the place and to my surprise, the staff.

2. Amenities
During our stay, the island was experiencing electricity blackout during the evening. The resort has a generator, but be warned that they switch it off by 10 PM. We weren't informed this when we arrived at night. We were only warned about it less than 30 minutes before they were going to cut it off, when a staff person arrived at our rooms and handed us 2 flashlights. That sent us scrambling to get our phones and laptops charged. It was such a hassle. Just shows how the staff are untrained. Wish they could have informed us sooner, so that we'd be more prepared.

And the room, well yes, it was decent. But note, there literally wasn't a bathroom door in the two rooms we were staying. There literally is just a curtain (in my room, there wasn't even that), that divides a sort of open closet, and the comfort room. No problem if you're alone, or a couple, but like if you're a group of friends (and maybe a bit "bowel shy?") then you'd have to ask your friends to go out of the room, or turn the volume really loud. Minor detail, but then that's where the devil is (seriously, they can't afford to install a door?)

ALL IN ALL, RUDE STAFF (like the absolute worst!), bad cellular sight, no electricity at night, and weird room arrangements.

If you're in it for the view, I assure you there are other resorts who have as good, or even better views. Volcan doesn't have a monopoly on paradise.Same goes with good rooms, and especially with polite staff.

Will never stay here again. My advice, there are far better resorts on the island than this.

STAY AWAY.

Warning future guests: you are only potential money for this hotel owner.

Everything is overpriced, motorbikes, food, rooms and especially tours.
Charging 2500 pesos per person for a half Day hike is ridiculous in any country not just Philippines. insane!

The worse thing About this place is the attitude from owner. There is mixed info on Internet regarding ferry's Going to island. Apparently we booked our first night on a Day with no ferries arriving there. Although I sent email inquiring About Pick up from sea port I got no reply on first mail and no Warning regarding ferry not working on Thursdays.

When realizing we couldn't make the trip to island we called hotel a Day earlier to try and see if we could somehow find a solution or perhaps be refunded for the one night out of 5 nights we booked. The reaction we got from owner was a cold laugh saying its high season and not his problem. He was not helpful, not friendly just Greedy even though He had plenty of time to give our room to another guest.
During our 5 Day stay we saw the owner sitting around all Day, yet He never even said hello, never checked in on any of the guests, not even a nod or smile.

Other then that, its is a nice garden, with a nice deck to sunset. No beach. The staff was great, professional, friendly, helpful and fun.

We have been travelling for 8 years and have never written a bad review. We have traveled in simple places and fancy places
We always try to Enjoy everyplace to the max. Never complained until now.

Did you ever wonder why aren't they any picture of the shower room/toilets?

So did we. We are on our honeymoon. We calld the resort specially!! to ask about the room and the bathroom because me wife is very meticulous about cleaning and privacy

First of all - the resort is beautiful(rooms are not so nice though) and the staff is nice

When we found out that there is no door to the bathroom/shower (see attached pictures) we stayed for one night and asked for refunded for the second night because we switched hotel.

The owner didn't want to refund us even some of the money. Didn't help that we said that you can't tell when you order the resort about the room (no pictures of the toilet - deliberately... That's why we calld..)
I would call it a deliberate Missleding of the customer but I guess the owner thinks 2000 pesos is worth more then his reputation/future customers...

Answer from VolcanBeachResort
Camiguin, Philippines
Dear Cendrille, the most comfortable way to reach Camiguin is via plane from CEBU with Cebu Pacific or starting Dec. 1, 2017 also with PAL. Beside this, there is also a connection by ferry from BOHOL, but only Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the moment. Third option is also by ferry from Balinguan, Mindanao If you need more information please feel free to contact us direct via Email. We are looking forward to welcome you on Camiguin in the near future Warm regards, Sabine Fien
