24/7 reception area with a very accommodating staff. Budget-friendly. They also offer meals. Feels like home here. Chill and relaxing. Also have privacy even in the dorm room. Very artistic design, simple but rock. It wasn’t noticeable anyway so just tell the driver to drop...More

Beautiful hostel with friendly staff, lots of character and a wonderful atmosphere. It’s a convenient place for exploring Tacloban. The restaurant/ roof top is so nice, reasonable and the food is great. The perfect place for the best trip!

Yellow Doors Hostel is the first and as of 2017, the only hostel in Tacloban City. It was an old and empty 3-story building, abandoned after Typhoon Haiyan, and was since renovated and refurbished with upcycled ...More pieces from the remains of the typhoon. Used doors and windows adorn the hostel's hallway, which were donated by people who were renovating their houses. The owners - the brother and sister tandem of Lucia Trixie and Jacques - breathed new life into these old possessions, a recurring design theme that one will see throughout the hostel. The YDH brand of service is to offer a perfect level of comfort and sense of detail at friendly prices to travelers of all kinds who use Tacloban as a gateway to the little-known marvels of Samar and central Leyte. Travelers and locals gather in its perfect terrace and swap stories over San Miguel (or Red Horse Beer for the more courageous.) As the night falls down and the town quietens, conversations, laughs and travel stories fill the little rooftop. One has travelled very far, to find something familiar and yet very new at the same time. Side note: YDH has a 24-hour reception, bookswap library, free WiFi and a rooftop bar. Accommodations include private rooms and dorm beds. Less
