My wife and I stayed 3 nights, arriving at 6PM by taxi($8) from the TAC Airport. Nice receptionists processed our prepaid check in, copied our passports, while we signed a form, got our key card, and took one of the speedy elevators to the 5th floor. Deluxe #513 was wood tiled and clean with all the comforts; a comfortable queen, long desk unit with chair, hot pot, water, refrigerator, large TV with Bloomberg, CNBC, CNN, 4 HBO’s and ~50 more clear channels, nice closet, quiet AC and designer lighting/ample outlets. The separate toilet/sink was across from a larger sink and spacious shower stall. Towels were available for their nice 3’ deep rooftop pool and the small 3 station gym(treadmill out of order).Our secure room internet was spotty. The 6AM breakfast, managed by Mark, was excellent and attentively served with a choice of 4 Western(ham, eggs, french toast and pancakes) and 5 Asian preparations(meats/fish and rice).
We enjoyed this well run hotel with hospitable staff located midway between the SaveMore Mall, City Hall and the Santo Nino Church.

The hotel is situated downtown and about a 25 minute ride from the airport. Transfer should cost no more than 400php.
On arrival I was given a warm welcome by Rose on reception. I had booked two queen rooms but ended upgrading one of the rooms to a suite. The rooms were comfortable and had all the usual amenities.
Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. There are several nice restaurants within walking distance of the hotel such as Ocho Seafood and Giuseppe's Italian . Robinsons North & South malls are a short drive away.
There is no such thing as perfection and there were some minor gripes. Hand towels in the bathroom were removed each time the room was serviced but never replaced and were only replaced on request. A selection of teas are available but not breakfast tea...which is only available at breakfast. In Fyzz Gastropub you can have a side of any choice as long as they are not chips, they were never available with dinner.
These minor issues did not detract from the overall experience and I would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel.
I did request a late check out and appreciated the extension provided.
The evening after I checked out I realised that I had forgotten my coat in one of the rooms. The hotel confirmed that they had the jacket and Rose arranged for it to be sent onto my next hotel in Cebu. My house keys were in the jacket so it was a great relief when I received it.

Upon entering the hotel, we were greeted with a very strong aroma of oud. Some might like it, some might find it too strong for their liking. Aside from this perfumed lobby, the staff are all very hospitable, hands down. The reception seemed busy that time so I couldnt say much about their hospitality, however I did not receive an email confirmation of my 50%dp despite following up a week after I paid, but all the servers were all hospitable and accomodating.
The family room was nice, however I noticed a strong smell of "kulob" and smell of roach. There was also a srong odor of perspiration on their leather seat in the room and in their lobby restaurant at Q restaurant which was annoying. I barely slept on our first 2 nights due to the sound of rats running after each other.
Despite this feedback, food was great and we were lucky we stayed at a hotel that had a lot of food options.

Great little boutique hotel downtown Tacloban. The staff was great, I believe I booked the “fabulous room” and they upgraded me the “first class” room. It was like a 1 bedroom suite, with front room with seating area, mini bar and bathroom, then separate bedroom with bathroom with shower and tub. Super comfortable stay, Air con was nice and cold, bed comfortable, shower was awesome.
The included breakfast was also really good, you can choose what you want from a menu that has Filipino, Chinese and Western options. Didnt get to use the pool, but it looked nice. This will definitely be my new go to hotel in Tacloban.

This was my 1st trip to the Philippines, it was an amazing trip, the people are sweet and kind. I spent 18 of my 31 days at Hotel XYZ in Tacloban. The room rates are reasonable and I give the hotel in general a 5 star rating. From the moment you enter the lobby you are greeted with kindness and treated like royalty. The staff is amazing, especially in either of the two great restaurant's in the hotel. The food is delicious, and the staff is incredible, when you come to the restaurant on the ground floor for breakfast make sure to ask for Fred a young man the recently started his career here, at 22 he is the finest young person I have ever met. He is hospitable and he is super attentive to your needs. He is nice to everyone, and we will never forget his professionalism and great service. He is the reason we love the Hotel XYZ so much.

Most hotels have 2:00pm checking in, XYZ has 3:00pm and room availability was still late. Clean rooms but small and excellent shower. All staff are extremely friendly and helpful and breakfast was very good. Reception staff could be more welcoming though.

Truly surprised how good this hotel stay was. Was not expecting much but was impressed with the overall stay.
The good:
1) Great coffee as it’s Illy
2) Great food. Everything was good. Dinners were delicious. The breakfast was not the usual cold buffet but rather ala cart and served hot. Servings in general are large.
3) Room was spacious enough.Hot water was hot. AC was cold.
4) Massage was very good. We did it daily as a result.
5) Surprisingly good gym. Life fitness equipment. Limited amount but perfectly adequate for the hotel.
6) Location of hotel is decent enough.
7) Staff were friendly and accommodating.
The not so good:
1) Room had a slight smell. Needs to be aired I think.
2) Wooden floor, at least in our room, is in need of some repair.

No hot water. I had read reviews saying during the week no hot water at check in staff laughed when I asked and said they had hot water. They lied. No hot water. In general, the staff are great food very ok. When they have it the pizza at the restaurant on top of the hotel is wonderful. The restaurant on ground floor is very nice food very ok. With no hot water during the week not worth the price better places to stay less money just eat at the XYZ.

Fantastic and reasonably priced upscale hotel. Room was great. Clean and very comfortable. King size bed. Bathrooms were great. Waterfall shower, flush toilet with toilet paper which is not so traditional. Food was great. Western and Filipino. Large portions. Service was impeccable. More than I anticipated.

I highly recommend the Q Kitchen on ground level. Ask for Samme M Cabanetoo he is excellent waiter. You will be happy with his service . The food was excellent and a very nice dining experience. Also they offer complimentary free breakfast, and if you enjoy American style the I have it available for you. Being from America myself, I highly recommend it. And remember ask for Samme to be your server.
