We went here last weekend (Sept. 24-25) The boyfriend and I had a very tight budget so after days of searching for something that can accommodate us, we finally found Almalin Beach Resort. Travel was 3hrs (without too much traffic). Left Manila at around 10am, arrived at the resort 3-ish pm.
The reservation was made by Ms.Precious - their admin in Manila. We weren't able to pay on time but we decided to just walk in. We were greeted by Manong Nonoy who was the caretaker. The resort has no restaurant so you have to bring your own food. They provide a cooking place where you can use wood to start fire. You can rent gasul and stove for P200 (we were given a discount of P50 since we were just 2).
Rate is P2,000.00 per night. This is for the Nipa Hut beach front. There's also P1,500 rooms but this doesn't have its own restroom. Though there's a common restroom nearby and it looks ok to use.
We were the only guests at the time we visited so it was very serene. Our room was small and the restroom too but it was doable. It had a double bed with mosquito net (which I love by the way) to prevent any insects getting in the bed. The room had only a fan, a nite table and shelves - where you can put your stuff on. The room was old and some of the materials used are rusty - ie towel handles and fan but it was ok. It has been said that its because of the sea salt.
We stayed overnight. The beach was LOVELY. The sand was fine (not as fine as Boracay's but it was waaaayyy better than the other Batangas sand). We're very much particular on the sand and the water. The water was clean but it wasn't that clear cos of the typhoon coming. The waves were strong when we got there, but on Sunday morning, we were able to swim and sun bathe. We loved the beach. It was perfect for us.
The resort had a pool which looks big on their website but it was quite small. Since we were the only guests, it was enough. I'm not sure though if the pool can handle a lot of guests.
Our room also had a hammock where we stayed all afternoon to just hangout.
They also have family rooms which are newly built and would be perfect for families / barkadas. Rates are only P5,000 and P6,000
So, here's my two cents on the place:
PROS: 1. Cheap 2. Lovely beach, fine sand, clean water 3. Pool 4. Free WIFI 5. Private 6. Very nice staff 7. Only 3hrs. drive from Manila
CONS 1. No restaurant 2. Old furniture inside the room 3. Fence at the beach front - don't know what's this for 4. There were dogs at the beach - no biggie though

Me and my husband together with our two kids (2 & 9) and yaya, went to this resort last 23rd - 24th of December 2010. We were the only guest at the resort that time so we really had a great and quiet time there. The beach was not that good but the resort has swimming pool inside so we decided to stay there after dipping an hour at the beach. The resort is surrounded with coconut trees with hammock in front of every cottage which I truly enjoyed during our stay. We cook our own food (grilled fish) for those who wanted to come here, better bring complete cooking needs (spices, utensils, etc.) because there's no store in a nearby area. But to be able to get in to this resort was really difficult because we have to travel and passed by into 3 mountains which is on a zigzag road (this cause me so much headache). As far as safety is concern, nothing to worry because they secure the area by placing bamboo fence when the guest is already inside the resort, nobody's allowed to enter except for their guest.....you must see and visit this place if you wanted to unwind.

Excellent value for money. Bring your own food and drinks and enjoy. We stayed in the isla Verde house. Very clean very tidy. Great view of the beach about 10 metres away. Highly recommended. Internet is not the best though but who cares your on holiday :-D

We checked in and arrived at our rooms only to find out that there was a problem with the electricity in one of rooms we booked. In addition, the room was quite messy with visible mold stains on the ceiling and sheets (see photos for reference). Our next room was without keys too!
There were only a few people to address your concerns with and it’s even difficult to keep in touch with then at times. In the end, we ignored these negatives to avoid spoiling our trip and just went on to enjoy the beach and pool (which are surprisingly clean). Although the beach front was paradise, the accommodation were a rip off. Pictures on social media and the internet dont reflect how the facilities look like.
Overall, would return to Lobo but would opt to stay at another resort. I honestly don’t recommend staying on an overnight basis at this place.
I really expected a decent 3 star accommodation but the place really needs a major renovation with both facilities and staff. I am being honest and fair here.

I won't trust anymore on the reviews below. It was very disappointing. Overall , i did not enjoy the beach. Yes, the beach is clean simply because its not develop yet. From batangas city it took us over an hour to find this resort. If you are traveling with seniors, child or ur family definitely i wont recommend this resort. Its really scary on your way driving on a zigzag and narrow road. i brought my whole family expecting we will enjoy it unfortunately not. This is not a big resort. Only few accommodations. No restaurant to buy your food and you really need to bring ur own. Their isla verde is only one with complete kitchen facility where u can wash ur dishes and eat. If you pick other accommodation they do not have kitchen and u need to eat in the veranda along with lots of flying mosquitoes very disgusting. On the quotation and on their website they have lots of goodies for you such as welcome drinks, fruit basket, daily pm merienda, lcd tv, wifi etc. Among them its only welcome drinks we got which is an ice tea that we didnt even bother to try it simply bec it doesnt look appealing you would worry where did they get the water? The resort is too far. You need to drive to zigzag narrow road to get there and its kinda scary. Its going and driving down to the mountain. When the care taker served the drinks i asked where is the fruit basket? She said to me because i got senior discount its not like included anymore. I didnt argue anymore bec i dont care we brought so much food. The tv is not even working no channel available. The wifi is not even available inside. You need to go outside in order to get signal. The bathroom definitely its stinks when we enter. The shower, the taps for the sink are definitely dirty. The toilet is not clean . The beds are ok. Since they do not av a kitchen you have no choice is to wash ur stuffs in the bathroom sink that is clogged. The water is going down too slow. Whative learned on this trip do not trust with the pictures. Yes it is true that pictures are deceiving. If u will look for a beach its better to ask from somebody that you know and their own experience than reading good reviews from here. I need to share my experience because i do not want other people to experience what we had. I paid total of 8,480 pesos overnight stay and not worth it. this is definitely a true experienced. And i wont recommend this resort.

I'm a Batangas native and having experienced all the "best beaches" in our province, this stretch of beach easily lands the top 2.
Allow me rant. I don't get all the negative stuff these people have posted. First, it's their place. They know the land, they know how safe or unsafe it is at night, so perhaps it's the very reason their security is tight. Second, It clearly is a family resort. They don't have a receptionist, so of course, they will ask you to pay first. Third, Their rate is super cheap, so don't expect to get the same fancy service you get at those resorts you mentioned. ( Pico de Loro is overrated afterall. Just look at their rating in Tripadvisor. ughh) Lastly, I don't get it, but most of us think that we're some sort of royalty that have to be pleased every time. OMG, go to Boracay or Amanpulo or anywhere abroad if you want to be treated that way. We're turning out to be crybabies, and this is bad. MAN UP for God's sake.
OK, enough of my rants.
The Good the place is cheap. it's clean. they provide free kayak, paddle boarding, etc. throughout your stay. they will allow you to cook anything. without any CORKAGE FEE The sand is white-ish but not as white and fine as Boracay. Laiya is better in terms of sand, but I love swimming here because the waves are not as crazy.
The Bad (mostly beyond their control) It's near a residential area, so you probably will come across a trash or two. The signal is a bit weak. No LTE.

Our family stayed at the resort May 14-15, 2016. We rented the whole resort exclusively for us because we were 31 heads plus 2 drivers for a total of 33 heads. We were allowed to check in at 12:00 noon but we arrived 1 hour earlier. The caretakers greeting to us was "you are supposed to be here at 12:00." Not even a "Good morning" from him. When we were on the way to Lobo, we wanted to ask the owner what barangay the resort was but there was no answer on the 3 contact phones she gave us. We texted her and she texted back after a while saying its in barangay Fabrica and that she was in a meeting and told us to refer to website. Also, when we booked the resort, they requested for a full payment right away. First time it happened to us. We have booked in Pico de Loro and other resorts where we would give 50% down payment first and pay the balance at the resort. Children were not allowed to use floaters in the pool. Why? Our 2 drivers slept in the van yet they charged us 350 pesos for each. Only the biggest house, Isla has a kitchen. But there are barbeque grills outside the other structures.
In spite of the hassles above, we enjoyed our stay. The beach and pool were nice and clean, there were hammocks around the resort which can be used by the guests.
I just wished that the owners and caretakers were more friendly and accommodating.

If your barkada would like to go overnight and just chill at the beach, Almalin is definitely one of the best place to visit! It was even better cos we went there after our exams so all our stress was definitely relieved! The beach was like almost all to ourselves cos no vacationers were present (we went there mid-Novemeber i think) The sand was finer than what we thought, although not as fine as the ones in Boracay, but it's still beautiful! Especially the sunset that all of us witnessed! It was kind of a long drive going there (took us 4 hours?), but that's because we weren't really familiar with Lobo. The zigzag going to Lobo was kind of scary but it added some fun to the trip especially when you're with your crazy friends! The staff there was nice... although we didn't talk to them much. But they're still accommodating :) The pool was awesome! Just perfect for our barkada! We had to cook food for ourselves but it wasn't a problem since kitchen stuff there were already provided. Even if you don't know how to cook, canned tuna and barbecues (that we bought pa outside the resort, just along the road going to the bayan) was definitely enough. Just a little flaw though. The water inside the bathrooms didn't have much pressure. So it took us a long time to finish taking a bath. The bedrooms were definitely cozy! Especially those at the main house. They're also kind of strict in regards to number of people cos the staff counted us when we arrived. But, we had no problem cos we were 9 (+1) which was the maximum amount of ppl at the main house. In any case, I definitely recommend this resort to people and will definitely try to go there again!

I've been to this place with workmates. We rented a whole house and it was affordable with okay amenities (TV, kitchen, ref), furniture was all right, too. Beach is clean and it was great having the whole place to ourselves! The place is far from the Batangas central so you gotta have everything you need before heading there but it's good in a way that you won;t have to deal with too crowded beaches and if you are looking for privacy.
