The reason I gave 2 stars and not 1 is because of location and the helpfulness of the owner. Aside that, the hotel is old, tired and I doubt sanitary. Wall outlets are hanging out with exposed wires, make shift plumbing in the bathroom, AC barely keeps the room cool enough to sleep. Such a shame, it could be the place to stay, in Cividale, and neighbouring towns, but it needs a big renovation, not just a face lift. Breakfast was adequate, but I will not be going back there these days
We had a one-night stop here on our bike trip and I felt well-taken care of. I like the mix of impeccable cleanliness and slightly dated Italian design, it's charming and warm. Bright hotel, too, cool and fresh. Needed an Iphone charger and an adapter and both were supplied with a smile. Pretty town, sweet hotel, worth a night.
Our 3rd stay at this privately owned hotel. Owners very nice & accommodating. Walking distance to Piazza del Duomo, Ponte del Diavolo, shops, restaurants, & sites to see. Breakfast table is complete. Free parking space is limited at the hotel, but free public parking area is a few steps away (short walk). Special enclosure for bicycles.
Three stars as well as the cathegory. Warm, good breakfast, staff very very nice and prone to help. In the center of Cividale you'll find an accommodation with everything you need to stay comfortable and peacefully.
This is an excellent base for a visit to an interesting place, relatively unknown to many lovers of Italy. The hotel provides simple, comfortable and quiet bedrooms, and a good breakfast. It is within walking distance of all the main sites, and easily accessible by foot, car, bus or train.
I arrived in Cividale after riding my motorcycle through torrential rain for an hour. The staff were pleasant, considering I was dripping all over the floor. Room was small but clean. Shower was tiny but hot. All in all it was a convenient location, easily accessible to an old city with lots of history. Breakfast was okay with plenty to eat. Great coffee. I have nothing else to compare to in Italy so I am not complaining. It did the job. I would visit the area again and probably stay here again. Secure parking in rear of hotel for my motorcycle. I would rate average to above average.
This hotel is a good choice to visit Cividale. It stands at the very beginning of the walking area, you can park just outside it and walk to the center. Rooms are not very modern but clean and cozy and staff is ok.
My single room was very confining, but worse yet was the bathroom. The shower was half the size of a public phone booth. And the total bath floorspace was twice the size of the bathmat. I sat on the toilet with my head over the sink! What was good? The mattress was comfortable, the room was clean, and the location is ideal. The staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful. Cividale is such an interesting town with many historical sights, good restaurants and upscale shops, who wants to remain in their room.
This is just another example of a soulless B&B of which there are many in Italy. Unwelcoming reception staff. Breakfast was a laugh it was so bad - stale croissants, dishwater fruit juice, no hot food, Waitress in jeans who had not a clue about tea. Bedrooms very average with a shower cubicle so tiny that it felt like one of those medieval torture rooms with no space where they left prisoners standing for ever in a sort of straightjacket. I ended up having to hand use the shower head to get a decent rinse. Where do they get these reception staff? It is not a matter of culture. bad service and attitude is just that. Is it becasue there is little choice in Cividale that they can get away with this? No porters so my tennis elbow got ten times worse carrying, pushing luggage to the coach. And finally, as I did not bring my tablet/laptop with me because I was on the go all the time, I asked if I could use the office PC once to quickly check my emails. [there is no PC in this "hotel"]. The answer: NO! Not could you please come back when we are less busy. Just no. I have said all there is to say about this property, and if I hear that it has closed down, I will be very satisfied. Just thinking about this review makes me angry. NB: I am only givinh this hotel one becasue I have to!…
We stayed at this hotel in Cividale, where we had a wonderful view from our room of the cemetary. If you have ever seen the movie The Shining, this hotel gives off that vibe the whole way through. The carpets, i'm not even going to talk about the carpets.... Esthetics are not the issue but when you smell 40 years of mould, you walk in tiptoes around the rooms in your shoes. Suggestions: don't eat from the minibar (my chocolate bar was expired, how does chocolate even expire?!) Fundamentally, the rooms have nothing to offer. The 90Euros for a double room is an insult to reason. I would have rather slept in the back of my cramped Alpha Romeo with my feet out the window, then smell those mouldy carpets.
