Detailed Reviews
My husband and I recently stayed at Hanoras cottage and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It is a real hidden gem, tucked away in the Nire valley and ideal to unwind and relax. Mary Wall does a great job in welcoming everyone and making them feel relaxed. The team is friendly and provide a great customer experience. The food is fabulous, with choices like fresh crab, halibut, steak etc. There is something to suit everyone. Breakfast is equally fabulous with beautiful fresh berries among other lovely choices. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. This is an ideal location for lovely scenic walks. We will certainly be back and highly recommend a visit

Can’t speak highly enough of this gem !! From the hospitality, comfort, food, location - the list is endless. The Wall family run the house with such professionalism and attention to detail and nothing is too much trouble.
Can’t wait to revisit.

I first went there two years ago for dinner. Everything about the experience was utterly unique, personal and of exceptional quality. The three course dinner was some of the nicest food I’ve ever eaten. I’ve been back for dinner nine or ten times since. The menu includes something for everyone and the food and service continue to be outstanding.
I also went to Hanora’s to have breakfast with some friends. I knew it won Best Breakfast in Ireland and was very excited to try it out. I was not disappointed! The selection of cereals, fruit and home-made breads was like nothing I’d ever seen and I had a fry too which was absolutely beautiful.
In February I spent the night in Hanora’s Cottage. The room was incredibly spacious and luxurious with a beautiful view and the most enormous jacuzzi I’ve ever seen. I only stayed for one night but the peace, tranquillity, exceptional food and service made me feel like I’d had a week away.
There isn’t a restaurant or guesthouse in Ireland that I could recommend more wholeheartedly than Hanora’s Cottage. Mary, Eoin, Judith and Iena are the most incredible team. I look forward to many more visits!

Hanoras Cottage is more a hotel than a cozy cottage. It is very pretty but formal. Our room, for 2 adults, was TINY. The en-suite bath was nice with a jacuzzi bath. The B&B is still observing some Covid regulations at breakfast. The manager was quarrelsome at times, making a couple of situations uncomfortable. I was quoted one price for rooms but charged another price at checkout time. My sisters were in another room, while showering a bat flew through the window and stayed in the bathroom with her. When she attempted to call the front desk the call would not go through so she had to go downstairs to the kitchen before she could find staff to help out. We would not stay at Hanoras Cottage again.

This is a very special place for an overnight stop or a holiday in the area. I would describe it as a traditional hotel in lovely grounds, with a feminine touch as there are many ladies around including in the kitchen. They use local food markets/suppliers for their menus. We very much enjoyed our dinner and our room with a view of the bridge but the best was to come the following morning. We were asked at what time we would like breakfast..and expected to appear at the allocated time. This is spectacular, I have never seen such beautifully cooked fruit for years.. something my grandmother would do. Mary will sit at the chair and you will hand your bowl to be served by Mary. Delightful ..

We spent 2 nights in Hanora's Cottage recently and were sorry to leave.
The food was a particular highlight. All of the breads, scones, cakes and sauces are made in-house and are delicious.
On our second day, we decided to take a hike. Mary supplied us with maps, walking sticks and offered us to make a lunch up from the breakfast buffet (which was lovely). The hike in the Comeragh hills was a 5 minute drive so Hanora's Cottage is perfectly situated for anyone looking for such a trip. We got caught in a rain shower at the end of the hike and on return Mary offered to dry our clothes.
Dinner on both nights we stayed was superb.
Overall, a highly recommended place to stay for a break.

After reading reviews for Hanoras cottage what drew us most was the welcome that guests wrote about. We booked over the phone for 4 nights b&b abd dinner. We were not advised check in was at 3.pm. We arrived at 1 30pm at the front door which was opened by Mary. There was no hello only my husband introduced who we were to be told " it's 3 o clock check in, thats what I tell them all!!! OK so we had travelled a long way and wanting to use a bathroom we had to drive back into Clonmel (had a highly recommended meal in Mulcahys).I was very anxious about returning after such an abrupt greeting 1st time. When we arrived back we had to use the back entrance to our room which I did not like. We were told "you'll take dinner at 7pm". we felt we were in school and not 2 professional people. Dinner was fine but no atmosphere whatsoever in the restaurant. I know its a very difficult time but there was just this awful feeling for us in this place. We checked out the next am. and booked into a wonderful b and b Newtown Farm in ardmore where we got a wonderful welcome from Teresa. Our opinion is that Hanoras Cotfage is over rated and as the saying goes "First impressions last ".

Disappointed is an understatement. Its such a huge pity as the venue is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland. It was almost like a false sense of security that we were lead into at the beginning when we were brought into this gorgeous and very cosy waiting area/sitting room with a lovely warm stove. We were then brought to our seats, which were falling apart. Later on, I noticed a lady sitting near us had the same issue, her chair was near the end of its days. I noticed on every table they had shop bought salt and pepper that you would see on your Mother's kitchen table. The waitress brought the bread before starter arrived. We were allowed 1 slice of bread each. No little basket for the table. And the quality of the bread was poor. My starter was ok. But my friends were hugely disappointed with theirs. Crispy Chicken - I had a little taste and it was without a doubt boiled chicken breast that was reheated on the frying pan. And it wasn't fresh....a bit tangy. We weren't asked if we wanted drinks or wine until the started had arrived. The main courses were steaks and honestly you would cook better at home on a Tuesday evening after a long day at work. Mashed potatoes, carrot and red cabbage. I wouldn't be surprised if the mash potatoe was a packet of smash. Generally poor quality and presentation. I had porksteak and it looked like something you would put in a bad breakfast roll to cure your worst hangover. The food was just lobbed up on the plate. No finesse! The deserts were grand. Typical desert that you would have at your Granny's with a lob of HB Vanilla ice cream on the side. The waitresses were 2 middle aged, badly dressed women that you would see at a canteen of a cattle mart. The owner came to each table for a quick chat. She was very nice to be fair and I can understand the idea of meeting her clients etc. The cutlery was old and looked dated. The place needs a revamp from the saxa salt bottle to the waitresses. The menu looks 5 star plus but in reality the quality and standard of the food was the same as your typical Tuesday night dinner after work. Such a pity as the venue is so beautiful and with a little bit of an investment, the restaurant could be so much better.

Fantastic place , from the wonderful food , great choice freshly cooked and high quality. To the way you are looked after when you enter. The warm fire and modern decor in the sitting room is so nice to relax after a busy day , when you are given the restaurant menu to choose from . The dining room has a lovely atmosphere and great view , which id sayis fab on a summers evening. The waitresses are so attentive and couldnt make you more comfortable you cant beat experience. Nothing was too much and always made sure we were happy and had enough of everything. The owner has great pride in her business espically when she makes time to talk with all her guests. Well worth a visit. And fantastic part of waterford to visit . A hidden gem.

There is limited parking. We parked partially in a small church lot next door. Nothing is gated but we felt comfortable leaving our car there. We take all valuables into our room no matter where we park, gated or not. I don't think secure parking is an issue here. Simply enjoy this wonderful place!
Thank you very much for your enquiry. We are approx. 25 mins drive from Dungarvan.
Mary.
