It was a delight to visit this gem of a restaurant. Upon arrival we instantly noticed how clean, fresh and warm the restaurant was. This made a brilliant first impression. We were swiftly shown to our table and presented with our menus. Dayna Jade is simply wonderful. She’s friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable, recommending a lovely whiskey when the one we had chosen was out of stock, Nothing was too much trouble for her. Amy was also excellent, she made us feel welcome every time we visited, she is friendly, professional and very approachable. her smile is infectious. (A very rare quality) We couldn’t have asked for better service, Amy & Dayna Jade went above and beyond. They’re a real asset to your team. The food was exquisite!! Second to none. The pork dish in particular was like nothing I’ve ever had before. Tender, Juicy, full of flavour and presented in the most beautiful way. The quality was outstanding, in fact i would go as far as to say it was Michelin Star quality. The chef is a genius, I couldn’t fault a thing!!! Breakfast in the mornings were just as good as the evenings. Matthew looked after us at Breakfast for the majority of our visit, he is smartly dressed and always willing to chat and offer suggestions of things to do and places to visit, giving great advice along the way. The breakfast is superb! Cooked to perfection, the Eggs Benedict and the full Scottish Breakfast were sublime. Seasoned perfectly and presented magnificently. The continental range was huge and has something for everyone (I recommend the coconut yogurt with chia & blueberries) we were also never left short of tea, coffee or toast. This was a truly unforgettable experience and visit, thank you to all of you for making it so wonderful. Melville Castle is very lucky to have all of you. we look forward to visiting again. We would strongly recommend that anyone and everyone visit. you certainly won’t be disappointed.

What a delightful hotel. From the minute I walked in, all the staff were very welcoming and I was very comfortable in my stay. The only downside I would say is that there is not alot of vegetarian options on the menu. That did not stop me enjoying my stay, as the staff recommended a place to eat called the melville inn down the road which was a nice and pleasant restaurant. Thank you for all your hospitality and making me feel very welcoming will definitely be staying again.

My wife and I went for dinner and it was absolutely amazing. The food was completely delicious. We have lived in the area for 3 years and have only just discovered this hidden gem. The hotel itself is very tasteful and traditional with a lovely wood fireplace on arrival

High on my list, when planning our visit to Scotland in July, was to stay in a castle. I'm so glad we picked this one. I had a peaceful stroll in the woods on their 54-acre estate. The castle/hotel's interior is elegantly decorated. The setting is so lovely there was a different wedding on each day of our 3-night stay. Despite being busy with all those celebrations, our visit was magical. In particular because of one staff member. Emma Fielding seemed to be there 24-7. Some mornings she was attentive at breakfast in the dining room. Then we'd find her tending the bar in the evening. When she wasn't busy, we had some lovely chats and she went out of her way to be helpful to us when we needed it. When traveling we pick out places to stay, but in the end, what creates the fondest memories are the people who make you long for a return visit.

Really nice hotel but restaurant rating poor. I was the first in the restaurant at 18:30. It took 20 mins to get meagre bowl of soup and a bread role the size of a golf ball at nearly a tenner and then waited another 25mins to receive pitiful main course consisting of 3 x4cm squares of meat, 2 micro carrots, a piece of sweet corn obviously prepared with a cheese slicer, portion of mash the size of a marble and a sprig of broccoli. and all for £26.00. The chef prepared the meal like a Picasso painting. Staff shrugged when I questioned amount on plates. Suggest a takaway if you are hungry after a long days work.

We stayed here the last night on a tour of Scotland - chosen primarily for its relative proximity to Edinburgh airport for our departure. Nice old castle atmosphere, beautiful and extensive grounds, friendly staff and an excellent kitchen.

We've just had our wedding at melville castle and honestly couldn't have wished for a better day. Weve not even left yet, but i had to write a review! The staff are all absolutely incredible and couldn't have done any better for us. They are an absolute credit to the hotel! The bar staff who worked our wedding had to put up with our crazy families and they did so amazingly haha! We felt so relaxed throughout the wedding and it because of the people who were working that day! I'd recommend a wedding at melville castle to absolutely everyone! Thank you for helping making out day so special! The Carrolls

We were supporting a wedding today at Melville Castle Hotel. The day was pleasant enough, the hotel has some cosy nooks to enjoy a drink, and we also enjoyed a tasty dinner served by courteous staff. However, just as we were packing the car to leave, Joe, the coordinator of today's wedding, came running out to remind us that we had still to pay for our dinner. We had actually paid our server about 15 minutes before. Joe, a word of advice - check your facts before accusing customers of theft, especially ones who’ve been working hard to support an event at your venue. This incident at the very end of what was otherwise an enjoyable day left us with a very bad taste in our mouths as we drove off. Absolutely disgraceful, and we don't recommend this place.
