We booked at the Hotel Cheribourg to be close to the provincial park and a spa we were visiting. We were given a room on the ground floor of the main building. The room was extremely musty and humid. When we walked in at 5pm the floor was still wet from a recent mop. When we went to bed at 10 pm the floor was still wet from the mop. Because of the "musty basement" smell we wanted to sleep with a window open but the room only had a sliding patio door with a broken latch that fronted onto common space. There was also a light outside on the patio that stayed illuminated all night and came through the top of the curtains. The patio area outside the sliding door had two plastic chairs and a dirty cup left behind from a previous guest. From previous reviews it seems like we were very unlucky with our room assignment. Do not accept a room in the 100 range.

Our kids (one tween, one young teen) were interested in the pools but found them a little small and not deep enough. The outdoor hot tub was very small and in Covid times only one family could safely use it at a time. Landscaping around the hot tub was just sad, with weeds coming up everywhere.

The beds were very comfortable, but one bedspread had a lipstick (a stain I hope) up at face level. The provincial park is minutes away and there are several restaurants with outdoor eating areas nearby.

I think if you had one of the outbuildings and your children were under 10 this would be a good option. We were happy to drive away from the smell.

Room Tip: Do not accept a room at ground level at the back of the main building, the musty smell is terrible.

The Cheribourg is an older hotel with beautiful gardens and lots for families to do. It definitely has character but needs constant upgrades I’m sure. We arrived late in the evening and we were given a room in the basement level. We instantly felt the humidity in the room after the area had gotten quite a bit of rain. Unfortunately the room had a very musty smell and after waking up, we found most of our things were damp and so were the blankets.
It wasn’t really the hotels fault given the climate and location and as soon as we mentioned something to the front desk, Khalid, our concierge, did not question our complaint and moved us to a beautiful suite on the other side of the hotel. We couldn’t be happier with our new location. Khalid has continued to accommodate us with any concerns we have had. We would definitely come back after the service we have been given. Thank you for making our stay much more enjoyable Khalid!

With three children aged 10 and under, we had a great time.
The children loved the playroom (Chériclub) and really liked movie nights with popcorn.
The fact that the facilities are so large and open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. (mini-farm, huge games room, indoor and outdoor pools, cinema room, etc.) even surprised us.
Comfortable beds and an acceptable size room.
However, there is a big humidity problem in the room: weird smell as soon as we entered and the towels simply did not dry.
Not super soundproof, we could hear the patio doors opening and closing (loud enough to wake us up).
All in all, nice stay!

Hotel Cherbourg Aug / 2020

I booked the family trip about a month in advance, and chose to stay at this beautiful Hotel because of the family friendly services that they offer and let me tell you we were not disappointed.

We checked into the hotel, I had to go in by myself and wash my hands and wear a mask in the lobby, checking in was a breeze and I had booked the Deluxe king suite for my family to stay in. The staff was very friendly and switched into English right away, even though they didn’t have to.

The grounds for the hotel are massive and offer such a wide arrange of things for the family to do, the kids were shrieking as we were going by the features. To start off they have a outdoor park two of them with swings, a pond with a paddle boat, a petting farm with a tennis court right beside it. It has a frog path with a net to catch frogs as well as an outdoor pool with a slide and a hot tub that felt amazing after the very long day there. They also have a indoor pool, hot tub and Sauna which was very nice to relax in. They also have a workout room and a huge gym that is full with a jungle gym, Trampoline bouncy toys, Foosball table and a few tv screens with video games hooked up to them. We were really happy with everything.

To be honest we stayed at the hotel because of what they had to offer. It was perfect for the family and they loved everything the ground had to offer, We would go from outdoor park to indoor pool to indoor park to outdoor petting zoo (which had; Goats, sheep, rabbits and chickens). They have a ice machine and a microwave to warm up milk for your child or popcorn for movies in the room.

The room (deluxe King suite) was a huge suite with two floors a very nice patio. The room also came with a Jacuzzi next to the king size bed on the second floor, we and the kids had a ball in this room. From blowing bubbles on the patio and watching the sunset to bubble baths in the Jacuzzi. There was more than enough space for the four of us.

This was a vacation to always remember and is a great place with the family.

Stayed here on Saturday 18th July

Unfortunately, our stay turned into a very bad experience as a result of the anti social behavior of the guests who were staying in the room next door

During the night around 12.30 am myself, my wife and our two young children (2 years & 4 years old) were suddenly awakened from sleep by loud music and singing from the guests who had just returned to their lodging. Evidently intoxicated from drinking alcohol

After 1 half hours of continued loud noise we made a call to the reception to complain at 1.59.am A further two calls were made at 2.30am and 3.21am.

Unfortunately the noise continued and after suffering over 5 hours of this insupportable behavior I had to go to the neighbors room and personally demand that the noise stops. It was only at this time that the noise finally reduced however by this time myself and my family were extremely fatigued and couldn’t get back to sleep. Our Sunday which should have been a pleasurable time was essentially ruined due to fatigue and we returned home early.

Upon checking out at 8:30am my wife complained to the receptionist but was provided no apology or answer why nothing was done to reduce the noise after 3 calls were made.

The hotel clearly does not have a policy regarding anti social behavior of guests and as a result we will not be returning to the hotel again in the future.
After our visit I sent an complaint email to the hotel after our stay [info@cheribourg.com] but a week later still no reply.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Chéribourg where we we greeted by warm and friendly staff. The hotel has implemented covid protocols that made us feel safe during our stay. Because the hotel wasn’t busy, the management provided us with a very late check out time at no additional cost. During our stay we were served by three different people at the front desk, all of whom were friendly and helpful. I look forward to my next visit and would definitely stay here again.

The Hotel was fine for our need, I went with a friend for the Madessimo Madness Congress from April 26 to April 27 2024 and we had a blast, service was excellent. Now it is an old building and that is why I did rate it 3 on 5 but first our need it was great.

On of the big reason why I did rate 3 stars on 5 is also because of the restaurant Les Sommets at the Hotel, the worst food I ever had and also very expensive for what it is worth. At lunch time they give you sandwiches, on Friday night for supper we had a buffet and some pasta salad was discusting and I did not like it much but I found my way out to eat enough. Saturday at lunch time My god, we had sandwiches and with Tomato juice , little cheese and a peace of cake just like in high school cafeteria and I really did not like it at all and it did cost us 33$ for all this . We had only 2 choices of sandwiches. Saturday night it was not bad, breakfast also the only think I liked was French toasts, the rest I did not like it . They had also vegetarian lasagna instead of giving us real Lasagna. That restaurant does not offer menu a la carte and is very very limited in choices. It was the same last year in 2023 when I came for same Congress and nothing changed since! If you ever come to this hotel bring your lunches or find a Plan B outside this Hotel for food or else you will really regret it. I was not the only one it to like it but other people went out,. It is just not always convenient to go out of the hotel just to go for lunch because than you lose your parking spot because at this Congress there is lot of people. This restaurant is a lot more Vegan than anything else and if I want to have a triple A steak or filet mignon forget it . Food was not always fresh and sometimes it seemed expired.

I just hope really that they will change that restaurant and out another one or a second one like an Italian real restaurant.

The only thing I liked was the size of the room and distance to Mont Orford. Where do I start, room was not ready for us when we checked in, would not provide cleaning service when we put sign on door, we had to get new towels everyday, shampoo and body wash, empty our own garbages, pool, hot tub and sauna need repair. The building although a good size is very dated and needs maintenance. Customer service did not help us everyday with our concerns and kept passing us off to the manager that avoided us. Are patience was broken with the service!

Terrible hotel for groups. We were a group of 8 children and 7 adults, during check-in, we received incorrect information about the breakfast. We were told that our group didn't need to make a reservation for breakfast and we when we went all together, the hostess screamed at us in front of all the other guests.

Clean and comfortable accommodations, with pretty grounds, near the Mt Orford national park. Room was not huge but certainly big enough for one person. There are two pools - one indoors and another outside with a water slide. The village has several good dining options a short walk away and the hotel restaurant itself serves a nice breakfast buffet. Great option for cyclists and families.
