Dishonest. Disorganized, Poor customer service, Unprofessional managers with poor communication skills. We were extremely disappointed by the dishonesty and poor customer service accorded us by the whole Jacaranda Team. My organisation booked and paid for a conference venue well in advance of the set date. But on arrival instead of a conference hall we were given a poorly set up lounge area to host our workshop. We did not accept this. No one could give us any answers as to why we were not given the original conference venue we had booked. The sales manager Maureen tried to convince us to accept the mediocre set up. Operations manager Patrick avoided handling the crisis and by the time we were out booked to a nearby hotel Southern Palm Hotel to hold our meeting 2 hours had elapsed. All that Makena the other sales manager could say was that is not how they do business. Hmm The hotel was unresponsive in looking for a viable solution to the crisis. The underlying message being passed across was that the business we brought to the hotel was not as important yet they had already accepted our money. Up to date we have not received a formal apology from the hotel acknowledging the error on their side. What we have gotten is a lot of excuses which exposes internal gaps in how they run their business and lack of proper coordination between the Nairobi and Kwale property. I will not be visiting any of their properties and would not recommend it to anyone. If you do book, do so at your own risk and prepare to be spoken to in a condescending manner. Bottom line Jacaranda - in hospitality honest communication and respecting your clients goes a long way.

We were a bit disappointed by our stay at the Jacaranda Hotel, which was a surprise as it seemed so promising. I booked a beach side room, and we specifically chose the hotel because it had this option, trading it's remoteness from Diani for the chance to have a room on the beach. We'd booked for April, but couldn't go until July because of the lockdown. The hotel was amazing about letting us change our dates. When we arrived they gave us a room which was not at all beach front, I asked to move and the following day they offered us the room next door, which was also set back behind other rooms from the beach. Considering the hotel was almost empty, I am not sure why they would do this. That's the sort of gesture which says "we really don't like you". I don't know if they just didn't like my face or what, but anyway the message was clear. On the plus side, the food was amazing. My kids loved all the meals and I was delighted by the Swahili choices for breakfast and dinner. Probably the best hotel food I've had in Kenya. Otherwise the showers were lovely: hot and powerful. The beach is pretty decent and you can walk to The Estuary or The Fisherhut for delicious lunches. It's not a bad hotel by any means, but neither is it great.

I had visited this hotel before in 2008. Therefore, I could not totally ignore the comments suggesting that the facility was looking old. I however still decided to give it a shot since I needed a less crowded place and with enough games facilities. To my pleasant surprise, the hotel is well maintained, with a clean pool, clean rooms right at the beach, meals with good variety that compares with any resort of its nature, all staff are very friendly and concerned on every guest well being. The tennis and basketball courts are not continously maintained at the moment since they have not been in use due to COVID. They apologised for this yet we were still able to use them in their state. Their willingness to consider your budget while still offering good service is what you will not get in another hotel. Great choice for families and when travelling in big numbers.
