I stayed at the Katoum for 1 night and it was wonderful! Beautifully decorated rooms, DELICIOUS food and nice staff and owners who advised on nice activities to do. The grounds are beautiful and very well kept. I highly recommend.

This was easily the top highlight of our Cote d'Ivoire visit, and always made better when you're not expecting such natural delight away from the African hustle. It definitely would not look out of place nestled up somewhere in the Indian Ocean. Originally we only were supposed to stay for 2 nights, but extended this to 6 as I got sick on arrival. Couldn't of asked for a better place to aid my recovery with great food, courteous owner, and surrounded by natural beauty. Pick up and drop off at the airport was on point with no issues and transfer to the resort about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Was greeted by Pierre who is the owner and made our stay great with his team and everyones ability to speak English to help us Brits out. Food was excellent and didn't have to be ordered by menu as made up dishes were available depending on what ingredients you wish for. Our first 2 nights we stayed in the basic box room that had no light and was rather depressing. But the last 4 nights we opted for an upgrade into a sea view room with balcony that also had better furnishings. If your about to book Le Katoum then 100% go for the sea view room, you will not be disappointed. Outside is the luxurious infinity pool that was built 2 years ago and still has the newness about it. Just beneath is also a toddlers pool. However the best part is swimming and enjoying the delightful views of the never ending golden beach with the Atlantic ocean in the background. Pool towels are available as well as a massage hut. The beach has no people and is in pristine condition with no litter, walk to the left and you can walk for an hour with sublime relaxing views, and walk to the right and and you'll meet the local fishermen on the daily grind with their boats. The beach is that safe and special it would be worth visiting the country just for this moment. The wifi here is not good and when considering the location you can hardly complain, but Pierre does have his own personal wifi, and if your lucky this may be acquired if the restaurant area is quiet. There are various excursions on offer such as fishing, dinner on the beach, whale and turtle sightings (depending on season). But we went for the monkey excursion in the nearby mangroves, but honestly there wasn't too many on show. The tour also incorporates a view of the local fishing village and overall lasts 1 hour for 2000 cfa per person, in which the money goes towards the village. A big thank you to Pierre and his team for sourcing some imodium tablets to help my sickness. Not sure what Le Katoum means, but the story here is all about a sensational experience in reality whether sick or not...

Our family of 9 spent 3 days at the Katoum and had a wonderful time. The food is very good and diverse. The owner and his son are very friendly and always trying to accommodate your needs. The attractions are fun and not very expensive. We really like the little tour on the river feeding the monkeys and meeting the local villagers.

We spend 5 nights at the hotel, longer than actually planned. IT is a paradise place, very calm, staff so friendly and the food perfect. We tried fresh fish the owner caught himself, yummy! I would recommend it to my best friends!

The view from the terrace over the bay is splendid! The food and service throughout the stay was excellent and we were very well looked after. The large pool is the latest addition to the hotel and very welcomed as the surf of the Atlantic Ocean can be too strong to swim and too dangerous for children. You have to distinguish between the rooms with a ocean view, which are lighter, more modern and equipped with split a/c and the rooms to the 'garden' side, i.e. back of the hotel, which do not get much sun light (due to dense vegetation), only have a old weak block a/c and could use a bit of modernization. The rooms and facilities of the hotel are nice and clean. The organised outing to a nearby remote beach with BBQ was well organised and a highlight of our short trip. We also made use of the kayaks the hotel provides to explore the River Negro nearby. The hotel organized the transfer from and to the airport in San Pedro, about a 1h drive over unpaved roads. The transfer went flawlessly although there were 14 people to be transferred.

This very beautifully situated hotel has a fantastic view of the bay, very beautiful decor, fantastic food and a very hospitable staff. They arrange small tours so that even on a one-day stay you can experience mangroves from waterside, hand feeding wild monkeys, a presentation of local cocoa and papaya growing and try direct-from-the-trunk palm core juice. All in a single one hour kayaking tour on the river behind the hotel. This is probably the best hotel on the whole south coast of West Africa.

We visited our relatives that leaves in Abidjan and they invited us at Le Katoum for a Week End. The place is simple, the setting is nice as it is wild. The day we arrived, the owner called Mr Alexis was finishing his cure against Malaria he has just contracted. We spent an OK stay there and went back home. 3 Days upon my return i fell sick as i contracted Malaria. It is the only place i got stinged by a Mosquito during my stay then no doubt i got it there. The place is facing a beach, on its back, a forest and on the back of the forest lays a river. The perfect place for mosquitoes. In fact, there are plenty, having diner there you got sting almost 8 to 10 times. The owner does NO EFFORT to contain this danger to the possible actions. No fumigation, no mosquitoes net over bed, air conditioning are very weak and do not cool enough. Also, they do not provide any insecticid inside rooms. However tgey know very well their place is a "Malaria Paradise". After i got out of this nightmare, i contacted the owner to inform him that i falled sick and to advice him to set-up mosquito net and install higher performance air con. His reply was shoking. First he didn't care and start attributing me that i was a "Demoiselle" which is a lady and that i am not a courageous person. I wondered to him how come this was his reply against a cinstructive remark, and he said i would probably better go back to play with "billes" a childhood game. He was rude, very rude and absolutely not concerned about my health. Obviously, i am not a native of this place and as far as i know this sickness is serious and coukd be fatal. As these peoples seems not to care about their clients feed back and experience or even well being, this place is to be avoided at all cost if you do not wish to put your life at risk.

This place is a true gem... one of a kind 😍 Located at less than 1 hour from San Pedro airport, this 17 rooms with resort right on a private beach has all the comfort you need : air conditionned bedroom, hot shower, free wifi, a restaurant offering both local and western dishes some with an asian twist, best cocktails, sunbeds under private cabanas on the beach and the best excursions ! You won't get bored... spending one day kayaking down the Nero river, an other having a pique-nique on their private secret beach, visiting the nearby fishermen villages, feeding the monkeys or exploring the beach natural plunge pools... This family owned hotel is set to make you feel at home and I am already looking forward to visit them again very soon !

While I was initially a little wary about the distance it was from Abidjan, I can say it was 100 percent worth the time and cost to come to Le Katoum. It is situated on the eastern end of Grand Bereby, which means that there are miles of beautiful, clean, empty, safe beach-front to explore and enjoy. Unlike the beaches in Bassam and Assinie, there is no trash in sight, no kids on dirt bikes, no vendors hocking wares, no dangerous riptide, and we had no problem swimming. The hotel's food is very good and the prices are what you'd expect at a sea-side resort in Côte d'Ivoire. Great fresh seafood offerings as well as traditional Ivoirian fare. The only thing that was disappointing was the classic breakfast, which is juice, fruit, Nescafe/tea and toasted rolls for 4000 francs. There are some maquis in the town as well, but we didn't go out to explore them. Air Cote d'Ivoire is now flying from Abidjan to San Pedro daily. The hotel will arrange a private car shuttle for 20,000 francs RT per person to take you to/from the airport (about 1 hour drive). The rooms are nice, A/C works well and the hotel has a generator, so you won't be stuck sweating in the dark. Excursions/activities: There's a monkey canoeing excursion for about 3500 francs that also takes you through a local village. Definitely do this; the monkeys are adorable. There's also a half-day picnic trip about 45 minutes west of the hotel on a different, pristine beach. That cost 20,000 francs per person and comes with more grilled lobster, shrimp, chicken and salad than one could eat. The beach is wonderful there too, but the only real advantage is that it's more isolated; no occasional boats, no other people aside from those in your group. But it's a bumpy ride and you could get the same food back at the hotel for less money. The is, hands-down, the best place that I've stayed in Côte d'Ivoire and one of the best beach experiences I've had in the world.
