I stayed at the Katoum for 1 night and it was wonderful! Beautifully decorated rooms, DELICIOUS food and nice staff and owners who advised on nice activities to do. The grounds are beautiful and very well kept. I highly recommend.

By far one of the best hotels in Côte d'Ivoire. It's neatly nestled in a quiet corner of the town on the beach and not far from the river. The decor is Ivorian but surprisingly modern in a country where the majority of accommodation seems to be stuck in the 80s. The rooms are clean and quaint; beautifully decorated and fully functional. The staff are excellent and welcoming. Great food and breakfasts. In a word: hard to beat...

Le Katoum was surprisingly the best part of my visit to GrandBereby!! The village its self is heavenly and the setup of the Katoum takes the best out of that! Best view in town, amazing food, Alex the manager is such a caring and passionate guy he even organizes a visit to the sea turtles ponding beaches, he's so accommodating that it makes that place feel like home!! I wont ever stay anywhere else when im in Bereby!!!

We visited our relatives that leaves in Abidjan and they invited us at Le Katoum for a Week End.
The place is simple, the setting is nice as it is wild.
The day we arrived, the owner called Mr Alexis was finishing his cure against Malaria he has just contracted.
We spent an OK stay there and went back home. 3 Days upon my return i fell sick as i contracted Malaria. It is the only place i got stinged by a Mosquito during my stay then no doubt i got it there.
The place is facing a beach, on its back, a forest and on the back of the forest lays a river. The perfect place for mosquitoes. In fact, there are plenty, having diner there you got sting almost 8 to 10 times.
The owner does NO EFFORT to contain this danger to the possible actions. No fumigation, no mosquitoes net over bed, air conditioning are very weak and do not cool enough. Also, they do not provide any insecticid inside rooms. However tgey know very well their place is a "Malaria Paradise".
After i got out of this nightmare, i contacted the owner to inform him that i falled sick and to advice him to set-up mosquito net and install higher performance air con.
His reply was shoking. First he didn't care and start attributing me that i was a "Demoiselle" which is a lady and that i am not a courageous person. I wondered to him how come this was his reply against a cinstructive remark, and he said i would probably better go back to play with "billes" a childhood game. He was rude, very rude and absolutely not concerned about my health.
Obviously, i am not a native of this place and as far as i know this sickness is serious and coukd be fatal.
As these peoples seems not to care about their clients feed back and experience or even well being, this place is to be avoided at all cost if you do not wish to put your life at risk.

We stayed at Le Katoum for 2 nights and we are definitely going back for longer. The hotel is situated in a really beautiful place and the owner, Pierre, takes fantastic care of you. There is a great choice of activities, and we enjoyed the picnic on the beach so much! It's nice to have the choice of organized activities, but at the same time, nobody forces them on you, it's something we really appreciated. The atmosphere is great and warm, the staff super friendly and attentive and you feel well taken care of- a great feeling! Oh and the food and the cocktails are superb! Highly recommended.

While I was initially a little wary about the distance it was from Abidjan, I can say it was 100 percent worth the time and cost to come to Le Katoum. It is situated on the eastern end of Grand Bereby, which means that there are miles of beautiful, clean, empty, safe beach-front to explore and enjoy.
Unlike the beaches in Bassam and Assinie, there is no trash in sight, no kids on dirt bikes, no vendors hocking wares, no dangerous riptide, and we had no problem swimming.
The hotel's food is very good and the prices are what you'd expect at a sea-side resort in Côte d'Ivoire. Great fresh seafood offerings as well as traditional Ivoirian fare. The only thing that was disappointing was the classic breakfast, which is juice, fruit, Nescafe/tea and toasted rolls for 4000 francs. There are some maquis in the town as well, but we didn't go out to explore them.
Air Cote d'Ivoire is now flying from Abidjan to San Pedro daily. The hotel will arrange a private car shuttle for 20,000 francs RT per person to take you to/from the airport (about 1 hour drive).
The rooms are nice, A/C works well and the hotel has a generator, so you won't be stuck sweating in the dark.
Excursions/activities:
There's a monkey canoeing excursion for about 3500 francs that also takes you through a local village. Definitely do this; the monkeys are adorable.
There's also a half-day picnic trip about 45 minutes west of the hotel on a different, pristine beach. That cost 20,000 francs per person and comes with more grilled lobster, shrimp, chicken and salad than one could eat. The beach is wonderful there too, but the only real advantage is that it's more isolated; no occasional boats, no other people aside from those in your group. But it's a bumpy ride and you could get the same food back at the hotel for less money.
The is, hands-down, the best place that I've stayed in Côte d'Ivoire and one of the best beach experiences I've had in the world.

When you are in such a country like Cote d'Ivoire, you expect the Katoum: friendly staff, lovely hotel beach front and good food!
Special point to the staff who really welcomed us and made a point to make sure we enjoyed not only our stay but also the neighbourhood by organising activities like kayaking, or picnic on fantastic beach. I can't wait to go back there and it will happen, i am sure!

Spend a week there with my wife and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Owners, Pierre Dazey and his wife Laurence, have carved out a little slice of heaven on this remote area of Eastern Cote D'Ivoire (CdI), Grand Béréby.
The hotel is situed an hour from San Pedro, the port town in the South East of CdI.
We arrrived by plane with the new Air CdI connections and were picked up by the hotel staff. The road from the airport to the hotel is in a state. All are awaiting the Government's investment.
It is also possible to get to the hotel via road (6.5 hours) from Abidjan... Again on a road that leave much to be desired.
But once there, you will enjoy a most beautiful view on the Atlantic, the company of welcoming people, and food to die for.
There are also a slew of fun activities... We visited a village, went for a great picknick at remote and beautiful beach (beautiful lobsters on the menu). We did a nice canoe trip along the Nero river... And Pierre and Laurence organized a dance shows for us... a lot of fun... All danced!!!!
A great trip. We will definitely be back... Hopefully to find it in very much the same state as it is... if you are looking for a quiet trip away from the hustle and bustle, look no further...
Live long and prosper!

We visited La Katoum in Grand Bereby with 4 persons in the end of may.
It's truly a lovely place that gives you the idea of being in Paradise.
It's located at the beach and has a really nice and service-minded staff.
Also the owner Pierre is a wonderfull person, he took us out fishing and we even got a ride of him in his 4X4 for our 5 hour during trip to Abidjan.
Also the food is delicious and I would advice the poulet Mozambique!
Good luck Pierre!
Greetings from Max Richard, Fabian and Tamasin
