Rather than begin at the beginning, I'll start this review at the end and simply say; overall, nice hotel with a couple of caveats, they are; Lots of stairs; The odd poor service issue (my potentially lethal bathroom); Busy Petron garage over the road which appeared to service all the local bikes and trikes; Not particularly warm hosts and finally, I ended up in room 415 which was definitely NOT the Honeymooner's Suite. The most serious issue listed I.e., the unfixed and loose wires of the bathroom shower heater, was quickly resolved, as it needed to be as you really don't want electricity anywhere near water as it's a fine conductor. The Stairs have been spoken about by many others so, it is what it is...If you have issues with mobility, best to look elsewhere in Coron. The garage over the road is another such point, it isn't going to move so, if a little vocal hustle & bustle is not your thing, day and night that is, then again best to look elsewhere. As for the staff, they were OK but not great. Expectation on Service is a dangerous thing. They were fine, just not that terribly warm in nature. Finally, the issue of getting what you paid for. As you can see from the booking form, I booked and paid for a Honeymooners Suite but ended up in room 415, what I believe to be a simple Deluxe Room as it had but the one Queen bed. The room itself appeared a little worn but overall, fine for what it was. However, that's not what was paid for and consequently expected. They later claimed not to have any availability. I received no refund but was told to contact Expedia. This did not spoil my time in Coron as I didn't really like it anyway, but that's beside the point. Would I go back to the Coron Bancuang Mansion if forced to visit Coron again? No. Like me and Coron, it's probably best to just move on... As always, happy and safe travelling. Phil…
I stayed here for two nights, and it is a pleasant hotel a short walk away from the town. I had made my booking on agoda and the room I had booked was not the room I was given at check in. It was a good size but it was dark, looked nothing like the room in the pictures I had booked and also the window looked out to a concrete wall part of a staircase which was horrible. No natural light whatsoever. I did bring this to the hotel staffs attention and they advised the room I had booked in the pictures was currently occupied. So they offered me an alternative but it was exactly the same as the room I had been given just smaller! So I opted to just stay in the room I had. The room did have bottled water available, and a safe, and there is also hot and cold water available for free for you to fill up at the bar area which is great. Apart from this room issue, the hotel was quite nice and almost like a little maze of cute little staircases across different levels. The pool area is nice with seating and deck chairs around it, I didn’t go in because it didn’t look that clean, there is a roof top area where you can relax and also the restaurant where I had both breakfast and dinner. The food was really nice, freshly made and tasted great. The views from the restaurant and roof top are gorgeous of coron island and the sea. Staff are helpful and friendly. I would stay here again but ensure I am given the room I booked. That was my only let down. …
Clean, comfortable, friendly... huge bed, private room... views, nice pool, free hot and cold water, welcome drinks... I just wish that breakfast was included and that they didn't try to rip you off on the tour packages (which are significantly cheaper to book just down the road at any agency and they'll still pick you up from the hotel)
We stayed here for five days, and we only have good words for this place. Our room was the top most room and it was sooooo beautiful! The staff were also so kind and accommodating. The food was so cheap and delicious! My husband's favorite is their Calamares. He said he had never tasted any Calamares dish as good as the one in Bancuang mansion.
We went to Coron before, and we understand there are not many good choices of hotels. This one is not bad, if you do not compare other 4 or 5 stars hotels. Very convenient in terms of location, and good for families to stay with the facilities they provide.
Nice mid-range option in Coron, a mere 10 minutes walk from the city center. Rooms are large, functional and very clean; some have partial sea views. There is a swimming pool and a nice bar and restaurant.
In our trip in the Philippines we stayed at this hotel and it was the best experience we could asked for. We arrived before the checkin time but they allowed us to leave our luggage there and offered a welcome drink. As it was my birthday on the day the staff helped my husband a lot: they prepared a romantic table in the restaurant for us, they ordered the cake and the whole staff sang the Happy Birthday! It was an amazing experience, the staff is lovely -and we didn't want to leave the hotel! As a plus, they accept cards, which is not common and the options they have in their restaurant are excellent -breakfast is cheaper than in the rest of the places and have many options, drinks have the same price as elsewhere and the food is delicious (and some dishes can be shared as they are really big). If in doubt of where to stay in Coron, this is THE place!…
Overall we enjoyed our stay. Accommodated an early check in which was really appreciated after a long 3 days on a boat tour. However, the room was situated next to reception and around 7am every morning the staff, who were kind and friendly would make a lot of noise which woke us up both mornings we stayed. They could have been more considerate bearing in mind the proximity of some rooms. Contrary to some reviews we found the WiFi to be pretty good on the whole. Given all the above though, still good value for the price you pay. Few tweaks and it would be great!
Pros: I contacted the hotel thru FB and made reservations online. The person I communicated with was super helpful and very nice. The welcome drink was a nice touch. They arranged all our boat tours from the hotel. Thanks! The room (Honeymoon Suite on the 4th Floor) was a lot larger than what I expected it to be :-). Very spacious, clean, and with nice decoration. Loved the room. There was a small balcony outside of the room that provided a small but great view. Cons: Tons of stairs to climb to get to the room so not for someone with kids and with bad knees. Also, WiFi is non-existent. They rebooted the router several times but it didn't work. The only available WiFi network showing was the one at the restaurant (Aleja's Resto Bar) but the password they provided didn't work and we couldn't connect - so we didn't have WiFi during our entire stay. The bottom of the stairs is where the service kitchen/area is located. The staff congregates and sits in this area in the early morning and through the night when they prepare food, when they eat, etc. We can loudly hear the noises they make (talking, laughing, pots/pans) everyday morning and at night. Also I'm not sure what time the pool closes but at 10 pm, people were still making a lot of noises while swimming (laughing/talking). All these can be heard loudly in the room as the pool is just outside of the big window (thin glass) in the room. They also ran the pool pump at night (after the pool is closed) which also made a lot of noise. One morning, several of the small dining tables had Reserve signs on them so we didn't have anywhere to eat breakfast. I didn't know that we needed to reserve a table so we have a place to eat. I was told by one of the staff that I should have reserved a table when I told the front desk what time we will be eating in the morning. No one mentioned this to us. After I complained, they let us sit on one of them and up until we finished eating and left, no one came to claim the tables to eat breakfast ....so I'm not sure who they were reserving it for- maybe rich guests who are more important than us who hasn't woken up yet? This made my husband upset. If they are needing people to reserve a table when they reserve a time to eat breakfast maybe they should let people know so their customers will have a place to eat instead of seeing 4 empty tables that says reserved but no one came to claim.…
Not my usual class of hotel. Expected a lot better considering the ratings and reviews. No lift. Lots of stairs. Terrible if you have babies like we did. Breakfast was tasty but very small set menu. Not extras given for free. Had to ask for room to be made up and fresh towels. The rooms were clean. No black out curtains so expect to be woken up with the sunlight. No real space for kids to run around safely due to all the stairs. Management was understanding and gave us a refund as we left to find a more suitable hotel 3 days early.
