Charming place, friendly and accommodating staff. This was referred to me by a friend and I tend to agree with his high opinion of the place.

The garden is the epitome of relaxation, very cozy, homely and peaceful. They have a pool if you desire a relaxing dip, with a jacuzzi on the side. And if singing is a passion then a karaoke room is available for renting.

Its location is ideal for those who desire peace over the hustle and bustle of the town center. It takes a 10 min tricycle ride to get to the town. Cost is 25PHP per person. You can request for a ride through the front desk and just wait for it to arrive.

The Kings Room was very clean, spacious and well maintained. There is a 40 inch TV with satellite cable and a spacious King sized bed. A mini ref was provided as well as an electric kettle with the usual freebies of bottled water and coffee. A safe can be used for store your valuables. The bathroom consisted of a glass paneled shower area and spacious sink area. Robes and towels were provided as well.

The were some downsides though and one of them would be the food choices available in the restaurant. Not much to choose from, and there are times that stocks are out. But whatever was available was rather tasty to say the least.

Our room was adjacent the expansion area. Though we were out on tour of the islands most of the time, the time that we did spend on the resort was disrupted by the construction activities that were going on.

Overall, I can't wait to go back.

Sophia’s Garden Resort lives up to the reviews you read on each hotel booking site. It is a little paradise on a busy island. It is good that it’s away from the town as it is so quiet. The grounds are well maintained and beautiful. You should be aware that there is construction on the property as they are expanding but it didn’t bother us as we were always out and about. The construction is between 8am - 5pm except on Sundays. You should also know that the mattress is made of springs and it’s hard. We asked for another blanket to go on the mattress which softened it a bit. The staff are excellent and really take care of you. We hired a scooter for the last 3 days that we were there so it was easier to get around but otherwise the reception just book a tricycle for you which is cheap 25 pesos per person or minimum 50 pesos per ride. The scooter hire was about 500 pesos per day and there are plenty of options. Wifi is very rare at Sophia’s. It is best in the reception or garden but you don’t get any service from wifi or Smart network at all in your rooms. I hope Sophia’s installs more modems around the property as that would make it much better.

The free pick up and drop off from the airport is very convenient. The first evening we tried several items from their menu and they were decent. I was impressed by the fruit shakes.
The staff are very polite. They clean your room every day if you want, though it is expected at such prices.
The garden is large and relaxing.

Maybe I had expected more from breakfast, more fruit options, for example.
Another annoying thing is the building site, which was our view. The noise during daytime is frustrating and makes you think the place is not worth the effort. They should not accommodate people in the rooms next to it.
The Internet is non-existent in your room.

Sophia's Garden Resort has had his best time, disapointing, restaurant not advisible. Usual lack of maintenance and interesse.
The are expending now, so building activities!
Coron itself has not much to do exept for wrack-diving,but we went north of the island for dugong- diving, wich is expensive.
In coron town the four of us chartered a boat directly in the harbour and did a tour for a dayin our tempo and our interteresse, wich was fun.You pay the boat for the day and extra for each stop you make.
Or simply take a tricicle to town for php 50 per person or 100 for te whole tricicle, fun

We stayed here 3 nights and find the place quiet and good for relaxing, away from the busy Coron town centre. The staffs here are friendly and helpful. Good size good and comfy bed. There’s also a swimming pool for guests to relax. They also surprised me with a birthday cake for me. Tuk tuk to town will cost PHP50 for 2 of us, which is less than 10 mins away. But beware of the super slow internet speed in the resort as well as whole of Coron.

Pro's: Nice and clean rooms.
Very nice pool and garden.
Very quitte location.
Food in the restaurant was ok.

Con's
Pretty far from the city, no walking distance.
Staff in de restaurant was making a lot of noise, singing standing all together, i think this was because it wasnt very busy and they hadn't much to do. As a manager i would not except this.
What really was an issue for me, was that they are really after your money, here a couple of examples: Evert time i wanted to the city i had to pay 100 peso's, when i wanted back i took transport from out the city for 40 peso's. I asked for a trip to the hot springs with my girlfriend, i asked how much it was, they said 1700 peso's i Saïd that was to much for 2 hours and then they said 1500 peso's. Because i did not know the real price i said okay. Later in the city i saw that the same trip was offered for 500 peso's again a very big difference. Al day long they asked of we were having diner in the restaurant, i dont liked this it came very pushing over. The last thing i was very wondered about was letting my laundry done. Al this weeks we are travelling around de filipins we always let our laundry be done at the resorts, normally this costs about 300 peso's for 3 kilo, even of you do it in town you pay 40 peso's for 1 kilo. At this resort i had to pay for about 3 kilo, 1750 peso's which is about 35 euro's. That i not even pay in Europa, anywhere. This is really unbelievable, of course i had to ask in advance about the price. I told my complaint to the front desk but he only laught about it.

Overall a beautifull resort, but to much focused on the money.

We stayed here after La Natura Resort. Wow, this is a different league. The price on booking was cheaper than on their own website and it was hard to find a room on the days we were going to be in Coron. So book in advance, because the 5 days we stayed in the island it was always full.
FYI, We travel with a 8 year girl and a 11 month baby and we stayed in middle-upper class hotels normally.

As soon you enter the garden of the hotel, you will feel and notice the difference between this place and the rest of the island. The garden is beautiful and always taking care of it.
Nice pool with jacuzzi and also some kind of pool water games.
You are normally alone on the garden or in the pool, because most of the clients arrive late, leaves early or stays the whole day outside on island hopping. So, most of the day quiet.
Service: from the first minute, you can enjoy the amazing service they have at the hotel. If possible, I will rate them with a 6. The manager does a great job.
Rooms: they are not very big but they are nicely decorated. Digital Cable, tv and 5 channels to enjoy most of the time movies. Air conditioning working and without any noise. Free complimentary water every day (as well on every lunch). Nice sheets and 2 pillows per bed. We also had an amazing crib.
Great shower with water pressure and unlimited hot water. Nice shower to relax. Complimentary shampoo, soap, etc. Quite complete.
Internet normally get into the rooms if you have a laptop, cellphone sometimes. Internet speed good first day, then something happened and it was a slow or not connecting for some reason (but they let us use the reception computer to check confirmations from the next hotels.
Restaurant : everything good and always happy to attend you or make any special dish. Prices fair for a place like this, around 200-300php.

The hotel is one of the best experiences around north palawan, without spending more than 200 USD. This place is more like a That Hotel than the typical filipino.

For sure will repeat if around.

Coron is a beautiful place. That said, I find this resort really not as amazing as some of the other reviewers on this site seem to imply. With a rate well above $100 per night, this resort has:
- No beach access, no sea view
- Very small (<15 m2) and dark (1 window with heavily tinted glass) rooms with simple furnishings, all built in one single row so sharing walls and not a lot of privacy
- A very limited menu with mostly Filipino food of its usual mediocre quality (at best)
- No other amenities than the garden and a small pool (massage services are external and can only be done within your tiny room)
- Almost non-existing wifi coverage

On the positive side, yes the staff is extremely friendly and they do make an effort - but in the Philippines this is quite common. The garden is pretty and the pool is small but nice.

So overall an average experience for me. Would have expected more for the money.

My wife and I stayed in this resort from Sept 3-6. We chose to stay here because of the good reviews that we read.

The Good
• Their facilities are new and well maintained.
• The cleanliness of the resort is very remarkable. The garden and swimming pools are well maintained. The room, including the bath, smells and looks clean.
• ALL their staff was very friendly and accommodating. I’ve been to several hotels and resorts here and abroad, I think this is the resort that provided me the most stellar experience for their service.
• Food and drinks are reasonably priced. It’s not cheap; but it’s worth it. They take special meal request if you want something that is not in their menu. They even asked us if we wanted to dine either in the garden or pool side gazebos at no extra cost.
• Pre-arrival inquiries and requests were responded to promptly. I even received a confirmation text from the resort regarding my transfer arrangement request 10 minutes after I made my booking online at 5am.
• My wife and I enjoyed drinking cocktails and having dinner by the pool after a tiring Coron day tour.
• The place is not crowded given that it only has 8 rooms. It has aircon and cable TV.

The Bad
• They provide free WIFI; however, it was extremely slow.
• Aside from the slow internet connection, there’s nothing else that I can say that I didn’t like about the resort.

Travel Tip
• To save money, book your Coron day tour / island hopping with tour operator - Nice in Paradise. From the hotel, you can either hire and tricycle or the in-house resort van to bring you to their office. Their tour guides are very friendly and they even swims with you. You just have to hold to their floats and they will pull you around in the lake while other tour guides stay in the boats.

I was a bit doubtful when I see in TripAdvisor that this resort is only receiving a score of 4 and 5. I totally agree with one of the reviewer that stated that he will give Sophia a score of 6 if he can.

This resort is highly recommended when visiting Coron!

Very welcoming and friendly staff. The staff works well as a team and they all look to be as helpful and thoughtful. Right now, they have only 8 rooms which makes it feel like a bed and breakfast. The setting is gorgeous and the location is private. You can either ask for a car ride into town for 50 pesos or walk the mile.

The hotel is expanding and adding more rooms so get in now before it becomes bigger.

The construction is not in the resort itself, it's on the neighbouring parcel and... yes, it's noisy from 8 am onwards. I can't comment on a superior room but we had decent size minibar in the deluxe one.
