I was traveling with a big group of friends so the first thing that I looked for was a hotel with a room that would accommodate a lot of people. Usually for budget lodging, they only offer 2-4 person rooms but this one offers 2 big rooms for 6 people. There were 12 of us so 2 big rooms were perfect for us.

The rooms were very clean. We didn't have any trouble on the A/C and bathroom. I also liked the fact that this was fairly new. (built in 2012)

This lodging was very close to the port where the meeting of the island hopping tour usually starts. Therefore, we didn't have to pay for the tricycle fare just to get to the port. This saved a little bit of money and time as well. Also, it is at the center of the town proper so the markets, restaurants and convenience stores are within walking distance.

Aside from this, they offer complimentary breakfast. If you want to bring in food or alcohol, you don't have to pay for any corkage fee.

Lastly, they also have a shuttle included in the package to and from the airport. You would certainly need a shuttle because the Busuanga airport is probably a 45-minute drive. Once you get off the plane, they will be there waiting for you. We didn't have to wait nor look for them. When we arrived at this place, they gladly checked us in even if we were hours early than the check-in time.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay as well as our trip because everything went smoothly as planned. We will certainly go back again!

The location was great. The public market is just right outside and the boating trips walking distance. We had the family room which could accommodate up to 6 people. The room was quiet. They have their own generator when the electricity goes out. On first night, the beds were itchy- bed bugs. The egg crate mattresses are not being disinfected properly. They changed the bedsheets but didn't help. Bring lysol spray for the bed if you plan on staying there. Breakfast is ordered the night before, so cold food in the morning. There's no warm water.

If you want to be right smack in the middle of the "not-so-busy" life in Coron, Balaibinda is a great base. It just opened this year and the facilities are, of course, brand new. The bathroom fixtures (including heater for the shower) are quite decent. It's such a pity water supply seems to be a challenge since we never got the chance to use the heater because the rain in Coron seems to do a much better job than that of the shower head. It's the same with the tap in the small sink. The room that we stayed in (family room, good for 5) had ample space. Some of the rooms we had a glimpse of seems to be wanting of a bit more space for moving about.

The dining area, located on the second floor is quite airy which also opens out to a small garden patio on the ground level. The overall interior of the place is tasteful though there is a tendency to overdo the "knick knacks" around the place.

The proximity of Balaibinda is a real PLUS since the public market, the boat terminal, and food places are just a stone's throw away.

Just expect at least one power interruption per day. Air conditioning units switch off automatically but Balaibinda's generator provides enough power for ceiling fans and lights.

The room rates are reasonable for a new place like Balaibinda. Here's hoping that the place will be kept spick and span through the years.

Just got back from my Coron Palawan trip and this place is worth the price especially if you're a solo traveler.

I stayed here for 4d3n and here's my personal review on Balaibinda.

Room (2 out of 5 - because of the bloodstain on the bed sheet in room 207)
I booked for a solo room thru Hotels.com last April. It cost me P3300 for 4d3n. The room and CR is also clean and smells nice but upon my arrival in Balaibinda at 3pm (check-in is 2pm), I still waited for 25min because the aircon was being replaced according to the receptionist. It was a bit inconvenient because they should have done it earlier considering the check-in time. Another thing is that when I was about to check-out, I looked under the bed comforter and to my surprise, there was bloodstain on the bedsheet which I didn't see earlier as it was covered (please do something about it, it's the worst thing a visitor could experience). Nevertheless, the room was cozy and comfortable if not for the hidden bloodstain.

Food (3 out of 5)
They only serve breakfast and it's plated. Serving was quite small. If you're a big breakfast type of person, you will look for food somewhere else after finishing your breakfast here. They serve the typical Filipino "Silog" food with one banana and unli brewed coffee (what got me satisfied was the unli coffee). They will also get your order for the next day btw.

Staff (4.5 out of 5)
Their staff is friendly in general. They will greet you whenever you pass by and will quickly act on your request.

Price (4 out of 5)
If not for the bloodstain which I still cringe about up to now, your stay here is definitely worth the price. You get what you pay for. Highlight of Balaibinda is that it's situated at the center of Coron Town Proper. It's a bit noisy outside the room facing the road but tolerable for me.

*To Balaibinda's management, please do something about the bloodstain. It will really affect your visitor's check-in experience.

Stayed here for 6 nights. The room is clean and the hot shower works great. The staffs there are nice and helpful. Location is in the town proper, so we always just walk to the hotel from the dock after our daily island tours. Breakfast is also included. Overall its a basic accomodation but the service and location is superb.

PROS:
- Located at the heart of town: you can literally walk to Mt. Tapyas, restaurants, market, churches (both INC and Catholic), plaza, port, drugstores, hospital, etc.
- Staff are very friendly and accommodating. They promptly answer your inquiries and they attend to your requests as soon as they can. They can also arrange tours (for 50 pesos less than the usual price) and airport transfers for you.
- Interiors are also cozy and relaxing. Nice to relax in after a full day tour or your flight.
- Towels provided are better than most lodges I've been to. You can also have it changed every day of your stay.
- Beds are also comfortable to sleep in and A/C adequately cools the room. Room also has a ceiling fan in case of brownout.

CONS:
- Room is quite cramped. Room seemed to be only good for two (we were 3, BTW) but the third bed was placed below the wall TV and can be easily seen if the room is opened (it's not an extra bed, so you can't avail of an extra bed in this room anymore). WiFi signal gets too weak if you're lying on the third bed.
- Free breakfast is either a hit or a miss. My first breakfast was tosilog -- serving is okay and the tocino was tender. Next was tapsilog -- it was quite tough to chew, and last was beef noodle soup -- it was quite oily.
- Mosquitoes are all over the room. (This is a given when you're in Palawan -- but at least insect repellent sprays should be used in their rooms) Always prepare your insect repellent when staying here.

What I liked the most about Balaibinda Lodge - Its proximity to most spots within the town... And the bed and towels.
What I disliked the most about the lodge - how the third bed was cramped into the room.
Will I recommend this place? Yes! It's already considered a mid-range stay but I like how close this lodge is to many spots and how comfy it is to stay here. Will definitely return.

Stayed in a Courtyard Triple room last September 23-26, 2017.

We stayed in Coron for 5 nights total and I booked Balaibinda for the first 2 nights since we were hardly going to be in the hotel at all those days and so it did not make sense to spend much on accommodation.

It took a very long time (usually over a week) for email replies to be sent when I was initially inquiring about the hotel which can be a bit frustrating and I was not happy about the airport transfer that was arranged though this might not have been any fault of the hotel. When we arrived at the airport, there was a sign for Balaibinda with our names on it so I'd assumed our van would be going just to Balaibinda. We'd been delayed in Manila so were eager to just get to our hotel and relax, but we ended up waiting in the shuttle van for 30 minutes on people (who wanted to buy some things there first and have a smoke) and then had to drop them off first (for some reason the driver had to go into the hotel so that was another 5 minutes wait). Just wish we had known this ahead of time since there were plenty of other transport options at the airport for the same price that would have got us to the hotel 45 minutes faster.

We had been spoiled everywhere else I suppose with full continental breakfasts with bacon, toast, juice, coffee, fruit, pancakes... all included and the choices here were very limited (no juice, just a pancake, or just toast... unless you wanted the Filipino breakfast which came with much more food - I tried that on the 2nd day and wish I had stuck to the pancake). Also we had booked the rooftop room both because it came with a fridge (which was very handy) and also for the rooftop bar. It appeared to be stocked but no one was ever there, so that was not an option though it would have been nice.

The rooms are very small - I did not expect much since the price was so good, so if it weren't for the few faults listed above, I would have rated the hotel at least a 4. I did like the location since we were close to the docks where we had to depart for diving the first day (Rocksteady Divers, amazing) and for our Island Overnight trip (highly recommend DIY Tours for this, I would have never figured out how to add an overnight ahead of time without them). We enjoyed having dinner and drinks at Seadive Resort along the water (although the service was terrible, view was great and food was good). I think I would have liked to stay there in hindsight, but no regrets. Nothing really wrong with Balaibinda, just nothing really great either.

When in Coron, keep in mind that you just need to stay in a nice lodge with a good quality bed, pillows, and bathroom. You'll be out all of the time. Better spend on a quality Tour--- go for Calamian Islands Travel & Tour. They're the best in Coron. They also give free lunch and snacks, and ecological&historical tour. Their tour guides and funny, and eloquent.

Balaibinda feels like home. They were friendly, and accomodating. It was their town fiesta last Friday, we even got free lunch, dinner, Zagu, and beer! By the way, you'll also get to save on drinking water because you could refill it there for free:-)
Their breakfast is so-so. And they have no brewed coffee:-(

I would go back there again for sure. My total trip only only cost me P9025.

Here's the breakdown:
1. Round trip airfare: P3600
2. Accomodation and 1&a half day tour with snorkeling equipment& entrance fees: P3200
3. Massage with tip: P400x2=P800
4. Meals, snacks: P750
5. Souvenir, local delicacies: P600
6. Terminal fee: P75

It's a good deal! Just imagine if i got the P1 sale from Cebu Pacific...

Went to Coron from May29-June 1, 2014 and stayed at the Balaibinda Lodge. We booked the Roofdeck Queen Room. Some comments below:

1) The room was clean and the size was just right. It had a queen bed, a desk, closet, a mini ref, and coffee service.
2) Bathroom was clean although on the small side with no divider so when you take a shower expect everything to get wet.
3) Towels, soap, and shampoo were provided. Toilet paper never ran out.
4) Just let them know that you want your room cleaned daily and they'll do that. But sometimes they forgot to replace the used cups in the room.
5) The room had a balcony with a coffeetable and 2 chairs which we found useful for hanging out, hanging our wet clothes, and for smoking.
6) Since our room was at the roofdeck and the lodge was 3 floors, it was 3 flights of stairs everytime. My hubby found it tiresome to go up and down the stairs after awhile.
7) Since our room was at the roofdeck, when it rains and you need to go out, expect the floor to be slippery. But it was nice that Balaibinda provided umbrellas right outside your door.
8) There's a dining area in the 2nd floor but this is used mainly for breakfast. Food (even if its only snacks) is not sold at the Balaibinda unfortunately.
9) The room we had faced the road but since we're on the roofdeck the noise coming from town wasn't so bad. The aircon helps drown the noise. But whenever there's a blackout the noise is very audible. If you don't mind not having a ref and coffee making facility in the room, you can make do with a courtyard room which are the quieter rooms in the Lodge.
10) The fan was sufficient to cool the room whenever there was a blackout.
11) Water pressure was okay although on our 3rd day there was a time the pump wasn't working properly so the water pressure wasn't that strong. But they were quick to fix the pump and get everything back in order.
11) The staff was very friendly and accommodating! They were eager to please and went out of their way to help and make your stay as comfy as possible.
12) The Lodge is located in the middle of town and close to everything! We only took a tricycle once (when we ate at the Coron Village Lodge), everything was within walking distance. Close to the market, the docks, and a variety of restaurants.

Overall I'd say that the Balaibinda Lodge is a nice place to stay in when in Coron. I'd recommend this place to others.

Calamian tours was able to transfer us here from Mt Tapyas hotel. Although it was Php 800 more per night, it was well worth it. The staff welcomed us with a cold glass of iced tea. The room was nice and clean. Bed and pillows were not cheap looking. Bathroom was clean and simple with hot shower. Breakfast is excellent! It is close to everything and tricycles are hailed easily. This place is highly recommended! You get more bang for your buck when you stay here.
