Detailed Reviews
I love Mommita's Lodge. You will easily feel at home upon arrival. They will take care of you and all your needs. Mommita was not personally there as she is in Manila for her medication but it did not in any way affect my stay. Lovely people running the place. Close to everything and affordable. Definitely going back! Stay here when in Coron.

We stayed here from october 14-17, 2014 and what we experienced was more than what's written here on Tripadvisor. At first we were iffy to stay at the hotel because the pictures uploaded here were very few and didn't look too appealing. But we were darn wrong, the guesthouse looked more like a home away from home and better than expected. More surprisingly, the room that we reserved was so big (YELLOW ROOM/ the rooms are named according to their colors). I will upload some pictures soon and for sure everyone will agree that the rooms are way better than they look in the uploaded pics here. We learnt about Mommita from friends who stayed here in the past. The recommendation came from people who practically traveled around Europe, Asia and United States so we thought it wouldn't definitely disappoint. As described by them the Lodge offers very homey ambiance, extra hospitable host and unforgettably superb service. But despite the suggestion we opted to search for options until we realized in the process that Mommita's was no-doubt the best option. When we made our minds that Mommita's was the place to go we couldn't reach the host at the numbers we found on several blogs. Good thing her email IS still active.
For accommodation, guests may opt to walk in or book in advance. I would suggest to book in advance though since the Lodge is too popular and taking chances is a sure no no especially during peak seasons. Depending on the length of stay and needs guests are given quotes and would be asked for a deposit to lock in the best rate and guarantee the limited availability. Mommita/ Mamita (as people fondly call her) promptly sends quotations in Excel. Tourists may have an all-inclusive package ( FOOD, TRANSFERS, ROOM, SNACKS, TOURS). We had an all-inclusive stay and for reference listed below are the PROS and CONS of Staying at Mommita's:
PROS:
(1.) ROOM(YELLOW) -- spotlessly clean&spacious; with AC, 1 wall fan and 1 ceiling fan, TV, Wifi, bathroom with heater. ( 2.) AIRPORT SHUTTLE--air-conditioned Innova picked up and dropped us off at the airport. ( 3.) TRICYCLE -- guests are conveniently transported to and from the port (for tours) (4.) ASSISTANT/ GUIDE-- assists during meals; guides during tour (swims with guests; serves meals; takes photos etc. ) (5.) FOOD-- Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner are served at the big patio on the 2nd floor; buffet on the boat during tour (6.) SNACKS--pizza when we arrived; may vary (hotdog bbq and chips during tour
CONS: SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE BUT FOR PICKY GUESTS LIKE US THERE WAS NONE AT ALL. Long Live Mamita!
Before I forget, Mommita's served us lobsters on 2 of the 3 dinners during our stay. Yes, that's right. The host is too generous she'd fatten you up during your stay. We usually had 3 dishes every meal but on our last dinner she served us 4 (Pork Sinigang, Grilled Fish, Buttered Lobster with garlic and Pork Barbecue + fruit salad). The food were so GENEROUS, TASTY and UNFORGETTABLE.
By now we are planning to go back sooner than later. The experience was beyond compare. The people aren't just hospitable but are also very family-like. Mommy Esther isn't just generous but is truly every inch kind matriarch of her elegantly humble abode.

From the moment I inquired until the moment we left Coron - we never had to worry about island arrangements, fees, transpo from airport to anywhere, gears, etc. since Mommita was the one who arranged everything. Ask for a quotation and she will break down everything down to the last peso, which worked well for me.
We stayed there for one week and they served breakfast and unlimited coffee everyday. Super close to all restaurants and this good pizza place across them. Everybody was super helpful and kind. Will definitely stay here again. Stay in the yellow room! :)

I booked in MOmmita's Lodge because of reviews here on tripadvisor. Let me highlight some pros and cons in staying here.
Since I booked months before our trip, getting the dates was not a problem. But sending emails back and forth can be a hassle when Mommita keeps on forgetting if she has attached the proposal etc.
Price is reasonable, but I later learned that I could find a little better accommodation at that price in the area.
Noise. I expected some noise even before we got there, thanks for the reviews here but I didn't expect that it was wayyyyy too noisy/loud! Imagine sleeping on the sidewalk of the street, that's how loud it was. According to her email a bit of noise can't be avoided so I expected a bit of noise, and I got crazy noise. BTW, we got the yellow room which for us is the worse room in terms of location. It's at the corner of the room and street so you can imagine the tricycles and buses all passing there.
The toilets are clean. There are two on the second floor. The other one on the left has a clogged toilet bowl. I spent a good 20 minutes trying to flush poop. way to spend my precious vacation time.
If you have no idea about the tours in Coron like we were since that was the first time we went there then you'll be a little confused as to which tours to get and whether to get the "joiner" tours or solo tours. At first we wanted the solo tour because we weren't sure if we will be comfortable with many people on the same boat. But Mommita said we cannot back out as she already confirmed the booking. We had no choice but to go on and try. Our group said we'll try it first before we confirm to her if we'll go solo or join other people on the next tour on Malcapuya.
Guess what, without waiting for us she confirmed the solo/private tour which is of course more expensive. We learned we prefer to join a group tour since the first one was fun. It costs us double for that tour. She was the one who organized the tour. The food was prepared by them and the "tour guide" who was boring as hell was her staff. Food was so-so. everything failed in comparison to the tour we joined the day before. we didn't want to argue with her out of respect but we decided to just join another tour the next day and we made that clear with her.
Breakfast is expensive at 225 or is it 250 per pax? especially considering that for that amount we were served a small plate of cut up hotdogs (cut spaghetti style), shrimp omelet which is a small platito and very salty, 3 hard boiled eggs, 3 pcs of lumpia shanghai and rice. we swore to never get the breakfast there again.
Dinner was also expensive but a little better than breakfast. EVen though we were not happy with the food it was hard to say no to MOmmita whenever she asks if we're eating breakfast or dinner there. thats why we said yes on a second dinner (with a heavy heart) it was also very awkward to to go out of the house to eat out and go back in because they know we ate out. We decided to just stay at a regular hotel next time and not at someone's house. We can't move comfortably.
We stayed for 6 days. She had to leave for Manila 2 days before us so she asked that we pay in advance for everything. The next day on our last tour we we're wondering how come nobody was picking us up when it was already past 8am which is the pick up time. I asked her staff and nobody knew about our tour! The problem is it's like they do not want to do anything about it. and it's already paid for. By around 9:30 the tricycle driver pick us up brought us to the pier and nobody knew where's our boat. It's like nobody wanted us. Nobody cared to include us. It didn't feel nice to be out in that situation. we were just told to join a group that's already complete, the boat's already been filled, so we were told to go to a smaller boat and that will follow the bigger boat. We didn;t have a tour guide on the small boat, I didn;t have a snorkeling gear coz nobody asked and I also forgot because of what was happening. We felt out of place.
On the last days of our trip and since MOmmita has already went to Manila, the staff kind of run free, especially the youngest one who was on her celfone until 12 midnight.
Also, we were quoted 1000 for the room but were charged 1200. Didn't notice until after we're back in Manila.
So to summarize, it was uncomfortable, pricey for what you get especially the food, very noisy and oh they smoke inside the house which is an issue for me because we have a toddler with us.
Definitely will not go back to MOmmita's Lodge, but will go back to Coron.

I chose this lodge for me and my boyfriend because of the good reviews I read from trip advisor. We checked in last february 2015. But sadly, we didn't have the same experience as the others had.
When we came in, I was surprised because it was literally mommita's house. We haven't had the chance to meet mommita because she was in Manila at that time. They gave us a very spacious room(master's bedroom) good for 5 pax.
At first, the helpers welcomed us with 2 kids playing around. But then, when we came back for our day1 trip. Their house was locked and we had to knock several times because it took them so long before they opened the door.
Guests come and go at different times. They always locked the front door. So it was very hassle for the guests to always knock and wait for them to open the door, especially at night. We came home at around 10pm. The helpers are sleeping already. Took us 10mins knocking for them to open the darn door.
Day2: After our trip, i scheduled a massage therapist for home service. Their place was located just beside mommitas place. The therapist wasnt available until 930pm. We waited in the room 'til 1030pm. So I went back to the spa and asked what happened wit the therapist. They told me that they were knocking since 930pm and no one was opening the door for them. So I got disappointed and decided to cancel the massage.
They also don't have a chef to cook good food for us. They told us that they had a chef before but not anymore.
I found out that there were a lot of better hotel/lodging inns in coron for the same rate mommitas place offers.
Sorry, but we are very disappointed with mommitas place because of the inconvenience.

+1
I called up Mommita’s from a contact number I found on the internet, she answer calls herself. She arranged the airport pick-up, so when we arrived at Coron airport, we found someone holding a sign with my name on it. The ride is a van shared with others, we reached the place after less than half an hour from the airport.
Location-wise, it’s really good, very central, 2 minutes walk to the waterfront where the boats for tours are moored. Restaurants, ministores, bakeries, ATM machines, transports (tricycles) are all around the place or some minutes walk.
Mommita’s Place is a guesthouse or sort of a homestay, you got to live with the family who owned the place, they’re down, the guestrooms are on the second floor. It has a two level balcony with several orchids hanging, chairs and sofa to lounge, you can hang your wet clothes on the second balcony, mini kitchen there too to make your coffee or tea which are provided free of charge, there’s a TV on the balcony and wifi is strong and free also.
They have about 5 rooms of different sizes, there’s for single traveler, family-size room, doubles, ours is the Violet Room, good for 2 or 3 people, painted with several pink hearts, spacious, simple, 2 ceiling fans, one stand fan, small TV, 2 big beds and 1 small, and it’s airconditioned. Freshly ironed bed sheets and blanket. Very clean indeed.
Two big bathrooms on the second floor are shared and we always find it available. There’s also one downstairs. For your own safety, they’re locking the main door facing the main street, you just have to press the buzzer to get in, especially at night. Although the family stays there, they don’t get in your way nor bother you, you just come and go, no hassle at all.
The staff – Tabs, Rose and another girl – are very friendly, always smiling and very accommodating with any request. You can avail their breakfasts and the legendary dinner at reasonable cost, although we did not, as we were busy sampling restaurants in town. Mommita (the owner) is an instant mother to guests. She’s genuinely nice and talks to guests about everything, her life in Coron, family, info about the town. She arranges boat tours, even on last minute. We booked 3 boat tours with her including 2 trips to Maquinit Hot Spring. Price is similar with any agent in town. You get to pay her instead of through agents, so all our expenses from the airport pick-up to all the boat tours and the hot spring and rooms are settled at the end of our stay.
Our room cost 800 pesos per night for the two of us, free flowing coffee and tea, airconditioned, with cable TV. It’s worth it. When most accommodations in Coron are half full or vacant, Mommita’s Place is very busy, as I’ve found out when I wandered around town.
The only trouble - which is probably shared by all accommodations within the town of Coron is - you can hear the sounds of tricycles at night, but since we’re always tired upon coming back “home” from boat tours, my sleep cannot be bothered by any noise at all.
Clean place, friendly family, including the cute little girl grand daughter of Mommita is so adorable.
Thanks Mommita, hope to see you again soon.
Highly recommended.

WE did stay here on 600 peso small room with aircon and shared restroom with two other rooms. Rooms are mainly just for sleeping, but place has common areas to enjoy you time.
STaff is all nice and jewelry of place is mammitas her self who enjoys her retirement time by taking care of visitors like her own relatives.
Don't forget to register on time for dinner that is mostly seafood and sure worth of money. For travelers not used to filipines please note that traffic is bit noisy.
WEll worth of stay, back next year.

The place is centrally located near restaurants and shops. It's along the main road so transportation around Coron is easy. The rooms and restrooms are clean. They also provide free clean towels and soap. Mommita and her family and staff are so nice and accommodating. I highly recommend the place for budget travelers. We only paid 800 per night for 2 persons in the violet room (with AC).

I traveled with my husband and 4-yr old son. The room was quite small (maybe just right for 700 pesos/night) Though the air-conditioned worked fine and there was a TV with cable and wifi was ok. The best thing about our stay was Mamita herself and her family. They were like our 2nd family in Coron. Thanks for your hospitality!

I was hesistant in accepting my friend's idea in choosing this place but I am glad we stayed here.
First impression - It was indeed a family house renovated to become a small inn. Mommita and some family members are also staying there which somehow gives the feeling that you are staying in a long lost relative's house.
Room - We were originally booked for a room good for 2 but Mommita allowed us to stay in a larger one. We stayed in the violet room (airconditioned, with tv, at the second floor, no private rest room though). I find it comfortable, nothing grand. I was particularly surprise they provided towels and soap as well. Common restrooms are clean and would always have tissues which is great. Noise from the outside can be heard as the house in itself is located at the corner of two roads. IMO the noise is tolerable.
Location - Great location as it is near restaurants, bars, pier and the Mt. Tapyas.
Food - We had our breakfast and lunch (during the island tour) here. We had full breakfast and lunch all the time. If you took the regular tour (meaning not the budget one), you may request particular dishes which they would gladly comply. They also provide morning and afternoon snacks during the tour.
Price - Accommodation is very affordable. Nothing to worry about. We were charged for Php 350/person/night.
Service - I think this is their strongest point. You may expect Mommita to treat you like her own so you may expect a service coming from your mom - stress free. The staff are also nice and are quick to serve.
Overall I enjoyed my stay here and would definitely come back.

Service - I think this is their strongest point. You may expect Mommita to treat you like her own so you may expect a service coming from your mom - stress free. The staff are also nice and are quick to serve.
Overall I enjoyed my stay here and would definitely come back.
