This hotel is good for budget travellers. Ambience is right. Room condition is huge for 2 people. Location is near the Coron sign and the port. Everything is walking distance to all restaurants. Staffs are charming and helpful. Housekeeping is everyday. Our room is well maintained during our stays. Avoid getting your tour from the adjacent tour center; they are not good. Breakfast in the hotel is good. Price is just average. Overall, this hotel is highly recommended to all!

Hotel is near the port where all boat tours start. Accessible and near the restaurants. No elevator, we were on the 3rd floor. Room is spacious compared to other hotels in Coron. We booked a junior suite with shower and bathtub.

This hotel has a very nice outdoor setting for having a drink with friends. There is a regular performer singing local songs, English and even Chinese songs. The performances start at 7PM up to 11PM and may sometimes extend up to 12mindnight whenever there are still a lot of guests. You can also sing your heart out and even have a duet with the very friendly singer.
The outdoor setting also let you enjoy the stars and the cool breeze blowing from the nearby Lualhati park.

you read it right. We were friends in the room asked for an extra bed cost P1,200 and didn't recieve any receipt.

Rooms are dirty, carpet is too smelly, bathroom is ok but not so clean.

Out dated hotel, the management needs a total renovation, esp the corridor it looks like I'm at the hallway of hospital.

Staffs are ok, but there's this longhaired tan lady that not good for being a receptionist. Better try to find a good desk officer

Tribble, tribble, tribble! We booked 3 nights at Coron Gateway Hotel, after looking at the photos on Booking and Agoda, we were very impressed. As soon as we arrived to the hotel we could see it was a total misleading information. Maybe the hotel used to be a good one, but now it is a total disgrace. The rooms are so old, you can see the cracks in the walls, the carpets are dirty and smell bad. In the first room we received, the AC was not working so after almost an hour of "trying to fix it", they moved us to a different room. The "highlight" was that just before we went to sleep, we saw a RAT CLIMBING UP the wall in front of us!! We immediately packed our bags and checked out (on 12AM on Christmas Eve!) and looked for a different place to stay. I highly recommend you NOT to stay there.

Extortionate, incompetant, abusive, disgusting

Avoid like the plague

I had to spend a couple of days in Coron Town on business, my agent booked me into the Coron Gateway, which appears on the surface to be a reasonable hotel. Upon check in they insisted I pay the full amount up front. I pointed out that they could just take a authorisation on my credit card like every other hotel in the Philippines to save me the bank charges of multiple international transactions for other services in the hotel upon check out - this was met by blank looks.

The check in staff were completely useless and could not operate the credit card machine. They told me I had to LEAVE MY CREDIT CARD WITH THEM at reception. Like hell!

The price was wayyyyyy over the top for this kind of accomodation. The building was noisy and right above the public market. The hotels brochure shows a beautiful building and setting when in reality the hotel is in the middle of a reclamation area surrounded by nothing but bare earth and no trees or anything else.

The food in the nicely set out restaurant was poor. More than half of the extensive menu was unavailable. You could walk across the reclamation area to one of the local eateries and eat the exact same quality food for a fraction of the price. Getting service or your food and drinks in the restaurant was epic in duration.

During one meal I was approached by a man who introduced himself as "the boss of the hotel" and if there was anything IO needed to let him know. I let him know of all the issues and he seemed to take offense at this.

I pointed out that multiple credit card charges for a single stay was inefficient to the guest he said he didn't care. I asked why he insisted on full price up front instead of a credit card authorisation which still guarantees him payment if need be. HE said his bank didn't allow that. I called his bank (Banco D'Oro) and they said there was no issue with the merchant taking authorisations of credit cards in advance of full payment, a standard international practice.

The socalled boss basicaly abused me and then actually physically pushed me and told me I was lucky he did not throw me out of the hotel. I pointed out if he continued this way I would call the police. His response was to make comments about he ran the town and other gangster like suggestions and he could do what he wants.

I spend up to 8 months a year traveling an living in hotels of al kinds of standards al around he world.

This is a hotel you don't want to visit let alone stay in.

To top it off I got food poisoning from a meal there.

ONE STAR is too much for this gangster run hell hole

My husband and I loved this hotel! It's right smack at the center of Coron town! If you don't mind staying at a hotel beside the market then this is the place for you! You can buy food at the market and have the chef cook it. The hotel is just by the port so you don't need to ride the tricycle if you're about to start island hopping / site seeing. They have worry free packages for a 4d/3n or a 3d/2n stay. Touring around Coron is very tiring so I requested to have a massage in my room. I thought staying at Coron's only boutique hotel would also mean that they'd have sa nice, relaxing massage service. Then again, I thought wrong. The lady came in our room and started massaging me... It started out ok then I notice the therapist was massaging me with just 1 hand since she was texting on the other. worst of all the "therapist" sat on the side table causing the entire thing to fall (it's one of those "floating" side tables , if you know what I mean). We called up reception and told them about the incident and good thing they didn't charge us for it. Another downside, they don't have internet in their rooms. You have to stay at their restaurant or at a room near the restaurant to get their free wifi. Overall though our experience with Coron Gateway was a blast! Definitely coming back here.

Beware coming to Coren Island..the reviews say 'beautiful white sandy beaches' but there are none on coren or basuanga..they are on the many surrounding islands so you have to get a boat to ALL of them and this is so expensive....the locals know how to charge, believe me.
When we arrived here, we found there are a very limited number of hotels. We found ourselves in the Coren Gateway..it is a new hotel and DOES NOT have a pool as they advertise on their posters...that wont be finished for another 2 years which is when the 3rd storey is finished and they can put the pool on the roof. Our room was very spacious and equipped with large lcd tv, very nice bathroom which can be accessed from the door or from sliding doors in the bedroom. The bed is just a normal double, not king or queen size but it was comfortable. The bath is huge but would take around 5 hours to fill as there is little water pressure when the tap is turned to hot. There is no mains water supply,It comes from tanks on the roof that are filled as and when. The electricity supply is scheduled...12 hours on, 12 hours off when a generator kicks in but then there is no tv or internet or AIRCON!!! which didn't work properly at all in our room...we had a towel to soak up the water that dripped constantly from it and I am sweating now writing this review at 11am. We also found it very disappointing that there were no coffe/tea making facilities in the room and just a sachet of shampoo and toothpaste as freebies in the bathroom. There is a refridgerator in a cupboard...but empty and not even 1 coathanger in the wardrobe.....oh and their internet is run from a dongle...no dsl.
To summarise, if it cost 2000php it would be ok...for 5200php, its a rip off.
This room costs 5200php..£74 sterling...$117 us dollar. This price is madness for what you get. Avoid at all costs....or it will cost you.
I will post photos soon..

Stay away at least until Dec 2017 !
There is MAJOR construction work going on which will last min 1 year.
I m currently asking booking.com for a complete refund.
Heavy construction incl cutting steel, air hammers etc starts at 7.00 am and finishes at 6.00 pm. Not sure how they can keep the hotel open during that type of work. Besides the noise , there are uncountable safety hazards with open balconies and stairways. Dirt and heavy dust everywhere. The room directly to our room was being completely gutted. No hot water at all seems a comparatively minor problem.
Unbelievable experience.

We went out for dinner , when we came back, I lost my bracelet . I did put it under my clothes together with my watch but then when we came back , bracelet was gone . Double locks are broke , some locks at the balcony are broke , it didn't lock really, it's an old hotel , renovation needed. I did complain and explained what happened but then there's no news at all , atleast they would have like tell me sorry for the incident or whatever .. I wouldn't stay again , for the first time I've lost something I kept. I've stayed to many hotels before , I left my things anywhere , I leave , I come back , and my things are still there...

Our booking didn't include any meals so I'm not sure, but the restaurant didn't seem like they had buffet food. We had breakfast there once and food was a bit short on serving and tasted just average -- you can get the same food elsewhere for a cheaper price. That's for breakfast, though. They have a different menu for lunch and dinner.

Dear guest, Greetings! As for the moment, the hotel doesn't consist of swimming pool as part of our amenities but owners were on the verge of putting so in the near future. We do accommodate average or large group of travelers here depending on room availability. We are located in Coron Town Proper so it is safe to say that we are close enough to local amenities, island hopping sites and docking area of boats. Thank you for your inquiry! I hope we gave an insight regarding our hotel. Best regards, Admin.
