We chose Discovery island resort for their dive center as we expected to find the ambiance of passionnate divers staying and diving together and sharing dive stories at the bar at the end of the day watching the beautiful sunset... maybe we had too high expectations! First there is no dive center per se on the island, they deal with a dive center on the shore so there is no advantage staying there. There were very few people and no ambiance at all. No dive staff on site. The rooms are average, certainly not « modern », almost no hot shower, smelly bathroom, our bathroom sink faucet would get you showered everytime you try to wash your hands. The bedsheets were clean albeit with old stains but they mattresses were really hard. The pool needs some TLC as the tiling paint is…
The staff was wonderful. The hotel is a full service resort located on an island off the island town of Coron. It's a 5-10 minute boat ride included with the stay that gives you boat rides to Coron up till 1130 at night. You can go island hopping by kayak or paddle board by yourself. They also have a scuba dive center which we used our second day. The staff was very knowledgeable. They knew the spots, too every safety precaution and made the dives both fun and safe. The master diver had like 7k dives. The prices were reasonable, and everything we asked for, including tours to islands by other companies, Discovery set it all up and had us where we needed to be on time. We liked the privacy of the island, while still being able to go to Coron when we wanted. They…
We booked this hotel because there were more than 20 of us and we need a place where we can all stay at 1 place. If you want to be away from Coron town proper, this place will offer you relaxation. Just be mindful that there is always low tide in the afternoon. Meaning, they can only use their small boat to transport us (good for 6 pax). And we are 20, such a hassle to go to town at night. Rooms are decent. I expected more for the price though. I was already at some hotel at Coron town which is cheaper and looks more appealing. Not to mention that there are mosquitoes on rooms without aircon. They even put service charge on bottled water or any drinks which is quite ridiculous. I understand that they had to bring goods to their islands but why not just make the price more…
Discovery was amazing. From the moment we got to Coron we had the boat waiting for us to take us to our private island. The staff were so polite and perfect, catering to our every whim. We were greeted immediately by the Asst manager Arlene and the Manager Riz. The swimming pool was a great size and very beautiful. It is also placed bang in the middle so the views are perfect as well. The food was lovely and available throughout the day. The prices were very reasonable and less than what you would expect in such a lovely hotel. The staff organised our trips for us and told us of other locations we could get to on our own without a trip. From the hotel we went on our favourite trip of our holiday which included Lake KAYANGA and the Twin Lagoon. Both are must see's. Then a few…
Discovery Island Resort is one boat ride away from the town proper. If you like to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the town, this is one of the place to be. The boat ride is about 10 to 15 minutes. If it is windy, you would have to wait for it to subside before you can get a boat ride. That's a bit of a hassle. Staff is very accommodating. Place is well kept.
