Quiet place gives a great feeling of a real get away..away from "reality". You can really feel relaxed. We're checked in for 4 days, 3 nights. First advice is to double check with the resort upon booking, wether your room is air conditioned or not, depending on what you prefer. We booked through their website. We thought or maybe took for granted that all rooms were AC:ed. It wasn't 100% clear on their site. But this matter didn't bother us much at all, since we had 2 electric fans and the nights and early mornings can be cold. Though AC can be nice sometimes for example upon first arrival and every arrival from tours, etc.
The resort has an awesome nature, great ambiance..love it! The resort offers tours and massages. Another advice though is to still compare with tour agancies outside the resort. FYI massages are given in your own respective room, some could like it, some may not. For us, it was 50/50, we expected a different area at the resort. It was nice that you can rest directly after massage, downside are the non massage friendly beds and if there are 2 of you having massage in the bed.. yeah you can imagine the space. But it was ofc still good :). We really recommend this place. Romantic, family friendly island resort👌🏼.

Catching a small boat over to the hotel on a small island set up our stay nicely. Even though it is in sight of Coron it felt like a remote tropical island. The staff mostly did a good job; service was friendly and quick. The rooms are basic but big, clean, and watching the sunset out the front was a great ending for a busy day. The restaurant had a mostly western menu with comparable prices to other restaurants in Coron.
There was no hot water in the shower. There where no mosquito nets over the beds. There was rubbish in the mangroves that would have been so easy to pick up (and while we where there we did). Plastic outdoor furniture has a cheap feel and it could be replaced with bamboo to fit the surroundings.

Discovery Island is a great little resort. The ten minute boat ride from Coron to the island really sets it apart.

Our room was comfortable with quiet and efficient air conditioning. The bar and restaurant are open-air but that suits the atmosphere of the place. The food is a mix of Philippines standards and typical tourist thing such as pizza and burgers. The bar is fine as far as it went but was a bit slack in terms of stocking (no tonic water!). The staff and management were lovely and friendly - but hey, it's the Philippines!

The private boat tour was very good indeed - vastly better than the big boats operating from Coron.

The airport transfer works exactly as described. Just be sure to leave enough time to work through airport security on the way out.

Room Tip: The newer rooms have aircon. Best to check first as without AC would be quite uncomfortable.

We had a reunion of old friends and classmates here and while it sometimes was physically tiring, it was well worth the trip.

The resort is well maintained though certain portions were undergoing renovation.

It has a nice beach front and we had 2 dinners on the beach to maximize our stay.

It might be difficult to access some places in the resort as the terrain is up and down and not all stretches are evenly paved .

Certain rooms also pose a challenge as they are a couple of stories up with no hand rails to hold onto. At night, it can be a bit dark to walk around in some areas.

The rooms are spacious and nicely appointed. The resort staff was helpful from the time we were picked up from the airport to the van ride to the private pier to get on the boat to bring us to the island resort.

Food was plentiful with a wide variety to choose from.

You can opt to go island hopping or just laze around the swimming pool.

Truly a trip worth taking and one for the memory books.

Two thumbs up.

We stayed at discovery island for 3 nights. If you want something quiet and close to Coron town, that is the place!
The room was inside a private bungallow, it was big, nicely furnished and perfeclty clean.
The restaurant was good and not expensive.
Staff were super nice and very helpful.
They pick you up from Coron pier when you want and drive you back anytime, it's only a 5 minutes boat drive.
We recommend this place to watch the sunset from their peer!

We stayed here for 2 nights and had the best time! Staff are wonderful and so friendly. The food is good and drinks are cheap- we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The rooms are basic but are in keeping with the vibe of the hotel. You really are staying on a little paradise island. The rooms have no air con but the fans are well placed to keep you reasonably cool.
The pool was great and open quite late. The sunsets here were stunning and the boat to and from the main island was quick and regular and available most of the evening/night if you should want it.
If you are looking to live the simple life while staying here then we can’t recommend this place enough

Discovery Island Resort was one of the best hotel experiences we had while visiting the Philippines. If you want a personal, professional, and relaxing experience, go to Discovery Island Resort. They treat you like royalty and don't expect anything other than a thank-you in return. The hotel is located on a small island 5 minutes by boat from Coron town, and they have their own free boat service to take you to the island and back to town whenever you want. The island is a nice, peaceful oasis with a beautiful view, a clean pool, and a cozy restaurant and bar. We lived in their native huts with our own bathroom, a bed with a fan/AC, and a small table. Not luxurious, but everything you need since you are only going to stay in the hut for sleeping anyway. They have cute dogs (Rambo is a charm) and very friendly staff.

Wanna use the pool in the evening? No problem; they turn it on. Wanna go to town? No problem; they sail you there in their own boat and pick you up when you want. Want to experience some tours? No problem; they will arrange it with the best guide possible. Wanna fly with your drone? No problem; they will lay out a board on the beach so you have a platform for takeoff and landing. Need to take the ferry at crap o'clock in the morning? No problem; they will sail you to town and arrange for a tricycle to pick you up at the harbor. No matter what your needs are, they will do their best to meet them.

We prolonged our stay to take an extra tour because Coron's tours are amazing, especially with TJ as your guide (ask the hotel about him), but also because the hotel was such a pleasure to stay at.

If you want to have an amazing stay at Coron, stay at Discovery Island Resort.

Sincerely, the Danish couple (M31, F29)

We stayed here for 6 days in Dec 2019. The staff were amazing and very friendly. The service was great and the restaurant food was very good. The room was really nice with a view of the bay. Aircon worked great. Hot water worked too.

Ariza and the team (Thanks Starky and Lorna) go above and beyond to ensure guests are happy, which made us cancel our other resort and come back to Discovery.

The resort is set among a natural mangrove environment., Its calm and peaceful and away from the town. That said we went pretty crazy a few nights with kareoke and the bar area going off.

You can walk all the way around the island too. Pool area is awesome for relaxing, with a infinity style overflow and its close to the bar.

We were a couple, but this is good for family's, groups and solo travelers. Free ferry all day/evening to the town is also a great service. We never waited more than 15mins, at either end.

There is a small pebble beach, but dont expect white sand beach, it is not advertised as such and doesn't claim to have one, but this didnt change our experience at all.

Thanks so much Discovery, I hope to come back some day.

Discovery resort is a fabulous way to access the incredible opportunities to experience coron without the crowded noisy feel of Coron Town. There is a freely available boat to take you into Coron Town that is only a 10 minute trip and in itself fun and beautiful. They were prepared and ready to get you into town, at any time day and evening.
The resort restaurant is perched right on the mangroves and the afternoon sunsets were extraordinary.
We ate most of our meals at the resort on our five day stay and felt that the food was freshly cooked till very high standard. So glad we had an extended stay so we could slowly enjoy the many day trips out to Coron and then retreat to what felt like a secluded Oasis.

We gave this resort a 'terrible' rating because we experienced racism there. However, there are a number of other things that we were not happy with either.

The place is very basic and over priced for what it offers:

1. No drinking water and no facilities to make coffee or tea in the room. Drinking water at the bar is three times the price in the market. Some accommodations in town provide free unlimited coffee and tea and hot water all day long.

2. Housekeeping is not regular. We had to remind the front desk twice. Over our 10 days' stay there, they only changed sheets once (that was when we were in the room and made our request). They also charge for extra towels - which is hard to avoid given the water-based activities in the region.

3. The main light in the room was not working. The resort claimed that they had to get the right bulb from Manila, but that didn't happen for all the 10 days while we were there.

4. While brown outs are not uncommon in Coron, the resort did not always turn on the generator during the daytime; which also meant that there was no Internet during that period.

5. Water ran out twice while we were in the shower. Since there is no intercom in the room, my boyfriend had to wipe off soap with towel and go down to inform the reception and then wait for them to fix the problem.

6. No lunch or water included in the diving package. Other diving shops in town provide lunches and drinks (including beers at the end of the diving day). Also, the equipment is quite old and basic - I was given a totally torn wetsuit. All this was for more than the average prices around Coron.

But all this might have been tolerable if not for the underlying racism that we experienced there. To give one example, the resort organized a New Year's Eve party where they took guests out to watch the Coron town fireworks on their boats. They took three boats full of people; only one of these had music, lights and a nicely decorated bar. This boat only had white people on it. As opposed, the non-white people were assigned to the worst conditioned boat that had no lights or music. The differences in the arrangement were insultingly obvious. We pointed this out as we were boarding, but our comments were brushed aside. Later, this boat was parked behind the two bright boats where its view of the town was limited. Behind the fully lightened 'white people's boats', we made our celebrations (thanks to the fabulous people on the boat with us). Nevertheless, the difference in treatment did leave a bad aftertaste - specially given that this was supposed to be New Year celebrations!

We wanted to talk to the owners about this before we left the resort, but they were all mysteriously unavailable. Therefore we decided to express our voices here. We love Coron and would even have discarded the strong smell of money-making at Discovery Resort, had we not experienced the racism. Given this experience, we really cannot recommend this place - unless one is ok with people being treated differently based on their color of skin.
