The location is at the end of Alona beach. Not a lot of pedestrian traffic. 10-15 minutes walk if going to the main street via along the beach. Plenty of shops for souvenirs and necessities, lots of street food and restaurants and bars with live music nightly. Our room was comfortable and the ac worked great. The room was large and clean. Right on the beach. Alona beach is not that big but clean. If you’re a smoker it’s great you can smoke just about everywhere, at the bars, restaurants, even the beach. For the money a good deal. Would stay there again. Don’t use the atm machine if possible. They charge a fee about $20 more than you can get on the main island of Cebu.

This was a bad choice to stay at this place. The photos on the website was better than reality. A big room with nothing special. A window to the corridor. Could have been a hospital.
The receptionist just looked at their phone. Didn’t care about us until we said hello !!!
Just a place to sleep in.

My friend and I booked a two-night stay at this resort during a travel fair back in Feb 2012. We initally got a Cella Room (Php 3,000/night) because it came with 2 beds. The personnel said that these rooms are being renovated so we didn't see any pictures.

When we arrived and saw the room, it was not set-up properly, no towels, no bathroom tissue and it was not what I had expected. I asked for room change (paying additional) and we moved to rooms classified as Chalet (Php 5,000).

Chalet room had more space, a dining area, living room, kitchen, bathroom on the ground floor and bedroom on the 2nd floor. I was initially impressed. However one starts to notice many inconveniences - (a) locks of sliding are not working smoothly, (b) bathroom showers not working properly, (c) tv not working, (d) some lights are actually busted, (e) difficulty in closing shower enclosures, (f) sliding doors for closet is not working properly.

I rated my stay as AVERAGE because the hotel personnel was able to arrange our transfers and days tours properly and got the tv working, but if I were to rate the resort facilities alone, it would be POOR.

Worst place we’ve ever stayed in.
Dark, smelly, and dirty. I have doubts that the sheets on the bed were clean as they didn’t feel fresh at all. A lot of fixtures in the bathroom were very old & broken.
I’d actually rather sleep on the beach than at this resort.

What a terrrible experience! I don't even know where to start this review.....

The worst hotel experience in all our travels!

Outrageously overpriced vis-a-vis the kind of service and amenities they offered to us. The rooms we got cost an average of US$130/rm/night, more or less.....When we checked-in, there were no toiletries provided in the room at all! Ooooops..... And there were no towels too!

There was no intercom in the rooms so for any concerns, we had to walk all the way up to their front desk to complain. In fairness, they did provide us with 2 small bars of 'cheap' soap, 1 roll of an equally-cheap variety of toilet paper and 2 small and thin bath towels which were supposed to be 'white' but definitely the white turned antique-colored already if there is such a description! Definitely not even a stray cat would take interest on!

What made it very disappointing was the fact that we had to request for these type of cheap and awful stuff each day since they do not automatically provide these after they made up our rooms. (Don't they have a checklist of the basic essentials for their guests or they were just ashamed of providing these?)

After frolicking on the beach on our 3rd day, we got to our room in utter disgust to find out that there was no water in our lavatory and the shower! Not a mere problem of low pressure but really zero-water provision for their hotel guests in this scorching summer heat! Up we went again to their front desk only to be informed that they were fixing something in their water system hence the lack of water supply! Just like that and they did not even have the decency to inform their guests beforehand so that we could have prepared for a "no-bathing" day!

Making matters worse were the seemingly-clueless, lifeless staff supposedly manning the hotel's Guest Services desk!!! We were looking for the Resident Manager or at least, a Supervisor to air our concerns but to our surprise, these important persons in a supposed-to-be hotel were nowhere to be found!!! The people there did not even say if they ever have one at all!

True, the staff there (about 2 to 3) listened to the guests' concerns but all they gave us were their empty stares (short of saying, already bordering that of stupidity!). We couldn't help but wonder what's wrong with them and this hotel? Were they working under duress or we're they underpaid? For heaven's sake, if you are unhappy with your job and you do not have the passion for it anymore, then please..... get a life elsewhere and pursue your dreams!!! Spare us, your guests, from the ordeal of having to contend with insensitive customer care and service that's definitely a no-no in the hotel industry.

To all travelers like us, stay away from this hotel!!!

Though the property itself is not so good (for me), and the room is not that what I expected for the rate we paid, the staff had made our stay more special by providing excellent customer service! They arranged car rental for us for the Bohol countryside tour (tarsiers, historic sites, loboc river cruise and chocolate hills) and airport shuttle from the hotel to the airport. They also offered great food (was it 'seaman's soup', you must try it!). There was also a small shop where you can buy pasalubongs.

This is my third trip to Bohol (stayed at diff hotels for the first two) and this is the worst one -- all because of Bohol Divers Resort.

I was with my mom, aunt, sister & cousin and we stayed for 2 nights.

Service-wise this is what we experienced:
1) On the way to Bohol, my sister was already trying to contact the resort to reconfirm our transfer from the ferry terminal to the resort. During that time, she was informed that the transfer is confirmed but we have no room reservations with them. Good thing my sister has the printouts of the email exchange confirming our reservation with them so we thought we'll just wait till we get there to sort everything out.

2) Upon arriving at the reception area, we presented the email printouts stating that we do have confirmed reservations and we already paid 50% of the full amount as down payment. Their staff is running around the area looking as if they don't know what to do. After a while, they finally figured things out and said to us that they got the name wrong that's why they said that we have no reservations with them. They said that we were in contact with their cebu sales office and it was the cebu office who is responsible in forwarding the details to them but they didn't receive anything except the a copy deposit slip for the down payment that we made. They also said that it was a holiday (Nov 29) so there's no one in the cebu office to talk to. This reasoning didn't suit well with us since on our part, it's not relevant if it's a holiday or not, their cebu office should turnover all the details before we arrive so to prepare the bohol staff.

3) Their restaurant staff seems like they are not happy at all to serve us. We also have to ask for every little thing to be brought to us (water, utensils, condiments). And we also have to ask like 2-3x for the items we need before they accommodate us.

4) We asked for hot water since we would like to have some tea, and they informed us that they would charge 25 pesos for the hot water. Asked if they would bring the hot water up to the room (we were on the second floor) since there's a charge, they just said "they would bring it down".

For the rooms:
They gave us 2 rooms (Chateau B & R). Rooms were bigger than expected but the rooms seems old & they fall way below expectations. The sheets were too thin as well as the blankets. The mattress looks very old. They have a teeny tiny TV mounted up the wall that looked like it came from the 90s era. It is a colored TV, but it's only color is green & grey. All the people on the tv looked like aliens.

For both rooms, the bathroom door lock is not working. We have to remember not to fully close the door since if we do, we have to call them (take note: they dont have phones on the rooms so we have to go down to the reception just to ask someone to unlock the bathroom door for us). The bathroom is not very clean as well.

Towels provided are like rags. Actually we have rags at home that are thicker & bigger than the ones they provided.

Bohol Divers Resort left an impression to us that all they care about is making money. They don't care whether their customers are satisfied or if they get a good service from their staff. Looks like they don't really train their staff as well. I wouldn't recommend this resort to anyone and would never ever come back here again.

We were a party of three and I made a rush reservation without checking online. Big mistake! We were a group of three. We stayed in a rundown, dark room with a window opening into a hallway, because the room has no window of its own.

The bathroom shower had no partition, it lacked ventilation (so you know what that means), the bathroom fixtures were inferior, and the bedroom was a horror - thin sheets, thin towels, old decor and stinky rugs, no wifi, and an ancient, worn-out 16" CRT TV with a barely working remote!

We paid P2,300 + P600 for a pull out bed, or P2,700 + 600, I don't remember, and I don't care to, because the entire experience was depressing! They asked us to pay for one night up front plus P500 key deposit. It's no wonder, because you wouldn't want to stay the night if you had a choice.

I think we stayed in what they call the Chateau Rooms. You will see here and on their website that there are NO pictures, and for good reason. The rooms are stuck in the nineties! I asked the concierge lady at the lobby about it, and she said something along the lines of, "Well, the rooms aren't that old...we haven't renovated in maybe five years."

The only thing I can say about this place is that room service is good here. They did clean up the room promptly in the morning and were efficient about it. Breakfast in their cafe area facing the beach was actually pleasant, because that area of the resort is newly renovated. Not much selection (an egg station, a local sausage and dried fish breakfast, cereal and toast + jam, cut up fruit), but breakfast is serviceable - it's NOT bad, unlike what some people are saying. The coffee station isn't great - it's all instant mixes.

Location isn't bad either...people say it's far from the action, but the "action" is in a noisy, overcrowded area, and Alona is not a very big beach. Bohol Divers is located in a good spot in my opinion.

My parents were so uncomfortable because the bathroom looked so unsanitary. We moved out the next morning! I know they have much better rooms, and they're better off offering those instead of the ones they put us in!

What a shame for a dive resort in Alona. It was a complete rip-off. I would have only paid maybe half of what they charged us for the experience.

I just returned from Bohol Dive Resort where I completed my advanced dive certification while my wife completed her rescue diver certification and our 2 children completed their open water dive course taught by Don Don Menorias. We found him to be a highly trained personable instructor who made the whole experience wonderful. The dive shop which is run by Peloyo and Sarah was very well stocked with equipment for our training and both Peloyo and Sarah were very knoweledgable and friendly. The dive resort itself was outstanding and the staff made us feel like we were family.

I often write reviews and believe I can find the silver lining fairly easily (perhaps my standards are pretty low). Perhaps I'm leaving a lower-than-normal review for Bohol Divers Resort because it's simply on Alona Beach and the prices are all too-high, the buildings are getting out-dated, etc... but honestly, I wasn't too impressed with this resort. Typically we stay at guesthouses or even hostels with private rooms, but seeing as those were nearly absent on Alona Beach, we opted to stay here after checking out a few other places along the strip. We had a 1500p room discounted down significantly, but honestly the floor in the room was really dirty (made my feet black) and the sink/toilet/shower area was less than desirable, even for this price-point. The A/C worked fine which helped us sleep nicely. We ended up having a slight cockroach problem on the 2nd night, and by slight problem I mean my wife woke up with one crawling on her and after killing that one, I woke up a few hours later with one in my hair around 2am. We've slept in sketchier places, but haven't ever had a cockroach in the room, let alone on us. Anyways, the following day we asked what could be done, and the workers said they'd clean it. Could we switch rooms? Not possible, even though it appeared less than 1/2 occupancy (it's low season). Fine. Cleaning will work, right? Well, they sprayed Lysol, a disinfectant. So at 9pm while I'm showering my wife finds a huge cockroach on the wall near the bed. Graciously they upgraded us rooms to a newer, cleaner and more expensive room, so that was a nice gesture on their part. So we spent 2N in a bit of a sketchy room for 1000p and then 1N (which was a really nice room in my opinion) in the upgraded room (they kept the same price 1000p). All in all, I think the staff handled it moderately - since they were nowhere near full, why not just switch us right away? I realize it takes labor hours and effort to clean 2x rooms instead of just the one... but customer should be King and we were patient with them, and tried to be understanding. Long story short - this resort is okay, but not great. If you want a nice room you'll have to shell out the dough for it. Since it was low season and everywhere had discounts, we thought we'd be alright. Perhaps we would have been better going off the beach to more a back-packer style place for a nicer/newer room at the same price. Hind-sight! The dive shop, below, however, was quite nice and well run by Simon T. The included breakfasts were simply ok - not great, but not terrible. Pretty basic and functional, got the job done! The view off the restaurant area was nice, so that was a bonus. And also the wi-fi worked pretty well the one or two times we used it. Had the cockroach incident not occured, this review would have been "average" due to the over-priced rooms (IMO)... they also mentioned they 'closed' that room off and will fix it to help prevent cockroaches in the future. I hope it's true!
