This place is such a find, WOW! It’s way cuter than the pictures and the owners, Jean and Lottie, live onsite and are incredible. It’s clear that they care about all their guests having the best time and they went above and beyond in multiple ways to show it: Lottie had a staff member go buy Christmas wrapping paper from the store to help me surprise my friends, and Jean gifted my friends scuba diving log books when he discovered they didn’t have any. Jean was our dive master and his calming, professional, and knowledgeable demeanor makes for the perfect instructor. Their gear is high quality, and new. Their boat staff is incredibly helpful and you will feel well prepared and taken care of. The rooms are super comfy with hot water, great water pressure and fluffy towels. The kitchen makes amazing meals and can accommodate any diet. Their house reef is one of the prettiest I’ve ever seen for diving/ snorkeling with stunning pink and purple coral, tons of fish, and pretty star fish. The name, EMOHA, is “A Home” backwards, and Jean and Lottie did just that, they made us feel at home!! I highly recommend a stay here if you’re looking to dive, snorkel or just relax!

tldr - If you come to Cebu, stay at Emoha Dive Resort

We travelled to Oslob via ferry and then a quick 20 minute transfer to Emoha. We were greeted with friendly and caring staff, an immaculate room and a private slice of paradise on this beautiful island. It took all of an hour to feel like we were at home.

Because the resort takes some time to travel to, the staff ensures that everything you will require is on-hand: travel and booking advice, honest and fair tour coordination, dive / snorkel equipment, water refill station, and a menu of fresh organic food options that delighted us every meal.

If you are comfortable travelling to major attractions with a tour or by booking a motorbike (onsite rental), from here you can see every major attraction on the island and return home to relax and recharge. If not, you will be left wanting for nothing with a pool, healthy reef, sun beds, food and a stunning view from your room.

The accommodation is beautiful, and we most appreciated the focus on environmental responsibility (glass bottle refill, no plastics, and organic ingredients). The communication and positivity from the staff was a warm welcome.

If we return to Cebu we will stay here, and will be eager to suggest Emoha to anyone visiting the island.

If we have constructive feedback to share, we suggest you don’t change anything. We wish everyone at Emoha continued success and happiness.

Thank you for an amazing visit to Cebu.

We absolutely loved out stay here! First off the pictures do not do this place justice, the level of design is better showcased in person. John Michelle is very knowledgeable about all of the local dives and explained with patience and kindness the plan before going under. He and his crew were brilliant at finding all sorts of sea-life underwater. Lottie and the hospitality staff were very accommodating and cooked us lovely plant-based meals during our 4 days at the resort. We felt spoiled with the dive boat fully prepped, a quick 1 minute walk from our rooms and sharing in the magic of Christmas and the ocean with everyone at the resort. John Michelle and Lottie treated us like gamily and we cannot wait to return! xx

We stayed here more than 2 weeks and we had a fabulous time. The environment is absolutely peaceful. You get great sunsets every day by the sea. The owners Jean Michel and Lottie are really involved making sure their guests have everything they need and more! They have been so helpful while Cebu island was in lockdown and they truly took care of us as if we were family. The food also is very tasty and with lot of choices and the staff (morning shift and late shift) are very customer service oriented.
The words would not even be enough to describe how amazing was our stay at Emoha.
A big thanks to Jean-Michel, Lottie and the staff! We would definitely come back.

Emoha is a beautiful & peaceful place.
I have traveled almost the entire island of Cebu, and there is nothing like the area of Santander.

Emoha made it extra special for me, I stayed there for 1,5 week and this was the first place after a long time traveling(8 months) That made me feel like home. Jean Michel & Lottie are the best!!
We ate our dinners together with some nice jazz or blues music in the background, candle light and the beautiful sunset.
Jean Michel & Lottie are so passionate about diving,
i loved listening to them, the beautiful places the went to and where you as guest will go to.

I have to come back some day to go diving with them because during lockdown sadly it was not possible.
And the other activities as looking at the waterfalls;)
I did go and went hiking up the mountain, from up there it’s an amazing view.

So I’ll be back for the fun stuff;)

Thank you so much for your hospitality, your kindness and friendship.
Stay well and until next time we meet;)

The best regards
Luca

A hidden gem in Santander!
I love the resort so much. Design and details are well-thought of. It is very clean, serene, bed is sooooo comfortable, pool is refreshing and clean, shower has strong pressure, tootbrush is made of bamboo and the bristles are soft ( which is unbelievable for a free toothbrush!) . And the sunset view? Just wow!

The food? We enjoyed it so much! My friends and i couldn’t stop talking about it ♥️. Try the chocolate mousse and the wine too!

And of course the owners! Thank you so much Lottie. We enjoyed our stay tremendously , if only we could stay longer.

This resort is something special, you can see the effort of the owners in every little detail. This is reflected in the rooms as they are super clean and they have unique furniture. Also the other areas like food, diving, transport are just well done. The owner even drove us 40 min to the ferry himself. Very kind people and just all in all recommendable!!

I'm from San Francisco Calif.work as a medical examiner. I went to Oslob to see the whale sharks.I found this Emoha dive Resort Hotel with a good review. We met the owner Otee (female from Hongkong )and start giving us the rules and policies of her hotel. When we checked out she was blaming us for all the scratches on her bathroom door and asked as to pay for it. Hotel was nice and clean but this female Otee has a lot of don't s on the hotel. You can't bring out hotel towels outside the hotel premises. We are going to see the whale sharks ..you need towels to dry yourself..really ! You cant bring your shoes inside your room. She was so unfriendly..she thinks all Filipinos are all domestic helpers since she was from Hongkong. Dont book to this hotel !!! You will ruin your vacation.

Response from Lottie L, Owner at Emoha Dive Resort
Responded Jul 2, 2019
Thank you for your review, Mr Ramos! My name is Lottie Lau, I'm a Hongkonger, not "certain female Otee". I'm sorry that your whole vacation was ruined because you didn't wear shoes in your room for 1 night & didn't have a towel at certain occasion. First of all, other people's profession, social status, race or sexual preference are not my concerns; as long as they're at our place, I welcome them as my guests, with respect & dignity. And hoping that guests would reciprocate the same sentiments. I'm not a racist, please don't call names just because we have differences. It's not fair for you to degrade your own people like that, Filipinos are lovely, happy & gentle people. I'd like to clarify certain "facts" for the viewers to judge for themselves: a) your party booked 4 double rooms (2 pax per room) for 8 persons. Then 15 of you showed up & refused to leave! I suggested more than once that you should go somewhere else because I didn't have enough beds to accommodate all of you. Maybe your "style" of travel is to squeeze the whole family into a tiny room, but our resort has our standard too. All of your children (except one) were full grown teenagers, sleeping 4 adult bodies in 2 single beds is unthinkable to me. I run a resort, not a refugee camp, sir! At the end, I gave 2 more rooms to your group, from my private residence at a very low rate. Your party of 15 only paid for 6 double rooms! You broke our rules, unwilling but I accepted it. b) I never told any of you not to wear shoes into the room. I took off my flipflops when I showed the room to Vivian Ramos, but I NEVER imposed it as a house rule, verbally to any of you. c) As for the pool towel, it's for you to use in the pool. The bath towel are to be used inside the bathroom. When you're outside our premises, I'm afraid that it isn't my responsibility to keep your body dry, is it? If you really wanted to borrow/ rent a towel out, please consider "asking" in advance. d) I DID NOT charged you one single peso for the broken bathroom door handle, the scratch wasn't there before you occupy the room, it's a fact. Please fact check with Marites or Vivian or occupants of that room in your party. I have proof of payment on everything that your party spent. e) Our policy is: No outside food or drinks allowed. Your party brought in a huge box of seafood to consume in our restaurant. I could've told you to go eat your food by the road, but I didn't. I only charged you Php 500 service fee for all the dishes, reheating your food & services that you used. f) AND, all of you refused to drink the water that we served because "you don't want to get sick!", so we drove out to the store to get you bottle water. We don't sell bottle water because there's a serious global plastic waste crisis out there. We don't want to contribute more to the problem. We serve clean drinking water purchased from reliable water station. It's very kind of you to warn other travellers (hopefully of your similar travel style) not to come here, because this is the kind of guest that I wish to avoid as well. Thank you again & wish you a pleasant journey, leaving lots of plastic bottles behind to pollute your beautiful country! btw, please should read the review of another member from your group, Anthony Ramos, on our google page, seems like he had an completely opposite experience.

We just got back from an incredible six-night dive vacation at Emoha!

The diving itself was incredible. Jean Michel and Tony were wonderful dive guides-- they would show us interesting things if they found them (like a shrimp and gobi together or a sponge crab on a night dive) but were also cool to let us wander around and explore. They carried everything to the boat and handled setting up the gear and rinsing it each day. Dive groups were small-- sometimes it was just the two of us, and the most we had were a group of four. (You don't have to be a diver to stay at the resort, but we definitely recommend staying here if you do dive!) Things were very flexible and chill-- Jean Michel would stop by while we were relaxing in the lounge area at night and would check in about the next day's dives based on the weather and current conditions and our interests. The coral was very vibrant in the area and we even saw a couple of sharks and large turtles! Since the area was farther from the busier Moalboal areas it wasn't crowded at all. We never saw any other divers in the local reef area, and only saw one other group when we were diving Sumilon Island. Overall a 10/10 experience!

The rest of the resort was also lovely! Lottie was amazing with communication with her prompt email responses when we contacted her to book a last-minute stay after our prior plans elsewhere got canceled. She helped explain how to get there-- you can fly to Dumaguete and be there in an hour or less by taking a ferry or you can fly to Cebu City and then have a four-hour drive using a car service that she will book for you. Everything is added on to your tab that you pay at the end, making things very easy and relaxing. This includes food, drink, dives, diving equipment, car service, and even a massage that she can book with a nearby massage therapist to do in your room or balcony with just an hour or two notice at a super reasonable price-- I highly recommend getting one!

We enjoyed the included breakfasts and super reasonably priced lunches and dinners (we spent less than $300 total for two people for six nights of lunches, dinners, wine, and beer). You can let Lottie know ahead of time if you're going to want an early breakfast and you can also pre-order your dinner for later if you're hanging out on the couches with afternoon drinks-- just let her know what you'd like and at what time. We loved the spicy Korean Ramen soup and the pizza for lunch, and for dinner we recommend asking Lottie what she recommends for the night-- sometimes they will get in a new shipment of salad or fresh fish or have a special. She knows what they cook best! :) We enjoyed the coconut-sauce fish, the tuna, the desserts, and we got the side salad with sesame dressing each night. You can order a bottle of wine (also at a great price) and then if you don't drink all of it, they will label it with your room number so you can have more the next day. They also have beers in the fridge that you can take and add on to your room tab.

The rooms were pretty and it was nice to have a balcony. The gardens are lovely, and there is a hammock in one of them that is great to relax in. The pool is pretty and there are areas to hang out around it (the beach area is stony rather than sandy but the pool area is very close to the water). We had rainy weather for the first half of our trip, but enjoyed a gorgeous sunset the last night!

Overall we would absolutely recommend this resort, especially if you dive!
