We stayed here 2 nights as it was close to Liloan Port for our onward journey to Siquijor. The property has amazing views and an equally amazing infinity pool. We ate here both nights and enjoyed the food, and the service was above and beyond. Highly recommend 👌

A pleasant hotel to base ourselves for 4 nights to do the whale shark watching and the canyoneering. The large sliding door wardrobe was great to store all our luggage and belongings out of the way. The free secure parking was great for our hire car which we needed to access restaurants. The last dinner order at Eden was taken at 6.00 p.m. The beach was rocky and unappealing for a swim, but the infinity pool was great. Views were spectacular and we highly recommend this hotel.

A hidden paradise along the tañion strait of Cebu. Perfect ambiance if you’re looking for leisure and relaxation at the same time. I Love the bungalows and their infinity pool plus good pizza. Also, staff were amazing!
Eden Resort is just 15 min drive to whale watching in Oslob and 45 min to Kawasan falls where we spend our family outing. We would love to come again next year.

I agree with the majority of reviewers that this hotel is quite cute and very close the whale sharks experience. The rooms are large and nicely appointed, but the shower pressure was absolutely horrible. The restaurant is in the central area and has some seats outside with a full bar, the food was just ok...but we ate there most nights because it's the only decent place within a very wide radius. If we'd had other choices, we would've gone. The views are quite amazing from each of the balconies, the staff are nice but on constant "island time" so the service is slow. Overall, if you are in Oslob and want a decent place to stay, then yes this place is good. However, our situation was quite different and it was appalling to see how the Hotel handled a bad situation.

You will see that you can rent motorcycles on their list of activities aside from Whale Shark swimming. I was assuming they would be scooters, as scooters are quite common in the Philippines. They brought me a scooter and my husband a large dirtbike. When I saw how large the dirtbike was I said: "no way!! We both need scooters." Neither of us were great at riding bikes even though we had both ridden before, this was a new country and the roads unfamiliar. A scooter would have been much easier to handle… My apprehensiveness had no affect on the hotel staff at all. They actually just laughed as they handed us the forms to sign our rights away in case of an accident. We also hired one of the hotel staff van drivers to guide us along our ride, while he was super friendly and knew the routes and roads...he proved to be totally useless as well.
As you guessed it, we had an accident. My husband lost control of his dirtbike and was thrown from it. Luckily it wasn't as bad as it could have been. He stood up from his bike with shredded and bloody hands and knees and a dislocated shoulder. The guide just stood there and had absolutely no idea what to do, with a blank look on his face. I basically took control of the situation and told him to put my husband on the back of his bike (because I certainly couldn’t do it!) and take him to the nearest hospital (30 min away). Even once we got to the hospital I had to tell the driver exactly what to do (go back to the hotel, get the van, bring it back here, etc…) It took about 8 hours for this ordeal to end with X-rays and the cleaning of his wounds, etc…
What upset me most was how the hotel staff treated us when we returned. As I was nursing my husband back to health, carrying him (who is about 100 lbs heavier and 1 foot taller than me!!) from the restaurant to our room, or as he hobbled around the resort all bandaged up…not once did they come up to me (or him) and ask him how he was doing or if they could help us in any way. I had to constantly ask them for help or for special assistance as they couldn’t figure out we needed it on our own. They never even acknowledged he was in an accident even though they new very well what had happened. I was shocked as this accident happened on their motorcycles that we rented from their resort.
Our trip was basically ruined after that, no whale sharks for us on the second day because he was so sore from the accident, there was no way he could swim with a dislocated shoulder or being so bloody, we had to stay inside the rest of the trip while I tried to nurse all of his wounds back to health. I am not blaming the hotel at all for the accident. It was our own mistake and our own fault for taking our lives into our hands. I’m just shocked at the level of service (none!) and nonchalant attitude we received from the entire staff after something so life threatening happened to one of their guests.
So overall, if nothing happens to you on your trip and you stay safe and need minimal care…this hotel is just fine. But if an accident does happen, expect to figure out everything on your own and do not expect to received any sympathy or care at all from anyone at this hotel.

Response from Dennis P, Owner at Eden Resort
Responded Jul 1, 2014
I'm so sorry to hear about your bad experience in the Philippines and wish I could have done anything to make your stay less unpleasant. But, I think you are unfair to my employees in your description of the situation. First; Your husband was offered to rent a smaller bike. The staff has offered themselves to find a scooter for him to rent elsewhere. But, he decided he wanted to use the Honda XR200. He took a test ride on the resort, and said he was confident riding it. Being after smart knowing what happened, yes, the staff could have been more persistent and refused to let him rent it. But, you also have to put yourself in their situation. When a customer want something, it's hard for them to deny him getting his wish granted. Second; You hired a guide to drive you around, that isn't an employee at Eden resort (we don't have a motorcycle guide). The person you hired, and paid yourself, is a driver we ourselves sometimes hire to drive our van when our own driver is of duty. But, he is not employed by Eden, or represent the company other then when we hire him to drive the van. That should have been clear when you paid him privately, and was not charged by Eden for his services. Third; You claim the staff was rude and unconcerned about your husbands condition. When you were at the hospital the two persons you sent to get the van was asked how he was doing. They ensured he was fine. A bit bruised up but nothing serious. Your husband was himself asked the morning after during breakfast, and he ensured he was fine now, as he got the medical treatment he needed and medication. When we were informed about the accident, we let the driver use the van, of course free of charge, to take you wherever you needed to go, and was ensured that the situation was under control. I understand that you are bitter for a vacation ruined, but I think you are unfair to diss our loyal staff like you do, when the situation you created was out of their control and not related to the business you review.

Small resort with 10+ rooms.

Located at Santander, about 15 mins drive from Oslob whale watching. Across the sea is Dumaguete. Beach is small but it seems the area is good for diving.
Food and drinks reasonably priced, staff were nice.
Stayed in budget room since they were fully booked.
Toilet: no hot water and shower enclosure needs maintenance.
Room: no deadbolt; a couple was transferred to our room by mistake and they opened the door at 530 am while we were sleeping!

We stayed for one night on our way from Siquijor to Cebu city. We only came for whale shark watching which is about 15 min drive from Eden resort. The resort has organized transportation to and from the whale shark watching point. The price is 500 php per room and you can go at 6.30 a.m. or 9.30 a.m. We chose to leave at 6.30 as the place in less crowded early in the morning. We paid additional 1000 PHP (500 PHP/ children) for snorkeling with whale sharks- we had our own snorkeling gear. The experience was amazing.
As for resort: the rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. The big balcony is a bonus. The views are amazing. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food was o.k., children especially enjoyed a good pizza for a change. There are a lot of Italian dishes on their menu. Breakfast was nice and sufficient - you could choose from different menus (american, continental ...).
The resort is also very close (2 min drive with tricycle) to Liloan pier where Ceres yellow line buses depart every 30 minutes for Cebu city. The drive takes 4 hours and costs 170 PHP.
We really enjoyed time spent at the resort, even if only for just one night.

If you need to escape from all that stress and all the hassles of city living then this is the perfect place for you.

You can get all the peace and quiet that you need in their comfortable rooms that each has its own terrace. Whether you stay inside the room or at the terrace does not matter because it is overlooking the sea and facing towards the Negros Island. You can sleep all you wan't and nobody will bother you - not even the noise of vehicles which are ever present in the cities.

Despite all these, the place is not without the amenities that a city escapee might need. If you wish to 'connect' with the rest of the world again then you can simply go to their lobby area for the Wi-Fi. You may also want to try their pool which is overlooking the sea and try the food at the restaurant and experience the quality of their cuisine and the hospitality and professionalism of their staff.

On top of that, this hideaway is also near the Whale Watching spots of Southern Cebu and this should make your 'relaxation' complete.

The place has stunning views. The pool and beach are great and there is activities that you can do through the resort. although we found out the time to do diving and went at 8am the time specified on the board for the when we wanted to go diving the guy had gone to the other island and the staff couldnt help us.

The rooms are a good size and have a stunning view overlooking the sea. Each room has this. The rooms have chairs and a table on the porch where you can sit and eat breakfast that they will deliver to the room. There is also a table and chairs inside the room to.

The bathroom was a good size with a relatively nice shower. On our stay the shower had hot and cold flashes watch out when showering youngster. A cockroach did appear in our bathroom.

The over all service of the place wasn't the best we have ever had but was still good.

The food was below par! We ate at the restaurant twice and both times the food wasn't great! The service was slow and meals came at different times. So eating in a group took ages as one meal was served and then everyone had to wait to be served.

The laundry service was slow bear this in mind when putting clothes in to be cleaned.

The rooms don't have wifi and the wifi that is available is quite slow. So if you need wifi for business it's not good enough. The wifi is only available in the restaurant dining area.

We were there mainly for whaleshark watching on new year's eve and new year's day. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean with basic necessities but all had amazing ocean view. The ride here From the Mactan airport was agony because there were no highways. Only narrow local road trafficed by jeepneys and motorcycles even pedestrians and animals crossing. It took us 4 hours to get there. Food was nice but limited choices. Other guests we saw included divers, couples, families and friends. It costs 500php per room for return transfer to whaleshark watching area. Nice and quiet at night. But the security person carried a shot gun which did scare us a bit...

When I first came to the Philippines, I stayed at this establishment and fell in love with it.
I got engaged at the hotel. I have stayed there numerous times since then.

The setting is beautiful, rooms comfortable, but the overall service needs a tweak!
I met the owner 'Dennis' and said that I would like to go over some improvements with him and he replied that he does not care if service is not 100% because if it was better, he would have more guests and that he would then lose his private hideaway !!! WHY does he advertise the property then?

Sadly if that is his attitude, then I shall no longer be returning!

First I like to apologies for the things I said during your stay, and ensure that everyone is welcome to Eden. Anytime. What you describe is something I sometimes say to my friends as an ironic joke. Maybe I saw you more as a friend than a customer during your stay. Something I sometimes do ;-) I hope I will see you there again to make it up for you. Kind regards /Dennis

Dumaguete is closest. From the airport you take tricycle to Sibulan fast ferry terminal. From there the fast ferry to Liloan. Lilon fast ferry terminal is 300m walk from Eden. Or a tricycle ride. About t 1 hour travel time. Other option is Cebu/Mactan, which is 4-5 hours away, but doesn't involve any boat trip. The risky part with the boat is that it may be cancelled during stormed. Not common though.
Answer from Dennis P

The beach beneath the resort is not very convenient. It's a coral reef very nice for snorkeling but not accessible. The pool is easily accessible,ND there is a better beach just 100m walk from Eden.

Answer from Dennis P

Hi. We don't rent out scooters but we can help you to rent one from a local vendor. As for car we don't have a car rental company here in Santander, but I would recommend you rent it in Cebu then. It's more common though to rent a car including driver.

The resort is about 4hrs from cebu city. other than booking tours to sumilon island, or whaleshark, nothing much to do in the area, it's pretty quiet.
