My two grown daughters and I stayed at Hacienda Jimenita twice during our December visit to Ecuador. The most important thing to state is how incredibly welcomed we were made to feel by the entire staff, most especially Ericka at the front desk. Staff were attentive and flexible; for example, serving us breakfast before normal start time when we had to leave early, providing extra towels as needed, and heating the hot tub at our convenience. Ericka also arranged a last minute (the night before) private tour of Quito with an excellent English-speaking guide who showed us the city and took us to a "local" restaurant. The property is beautiful, and birds (many hummingbirds) are plentiful, drawn in part by the many bird feeders around the property. There is a very nice nature path leading to views of a canyon and with plenty of flora along the way. The Hacienda is located fairly near the airport on the approach path and so there is occasional airplane noise. This is Quito, though, not Chicago, and the number of flights is not great. The planes were only a very minor annoyance. It should be noted that this property is located in a rural area and a vehicle is needed to get to any restaurants (except the one on the property), stores, city center sightseeing, etc. The entire facility is set up to be relaxing. One can enjoy the birds, read a book, listen to music etc. sitting out by the restaurant, on a patio, on the nature trail, or just sitting in one's comfortable room. It is easy to find seclusion, if that is desired, and there are also places for a larger group to socialize. The restaurant is excellent, though a bit pricey (as one would expect in a hotel, especially where outside options don't exist without a taxi ride). The chef takes great interest in meeting the needs of guests -- we had an omnivore, a vegetarian, and a vegan in our group -- and everything we ordered was delicious. It's worth mentioning that the restaurant is designed for leisurely dining. It is not a place for a "quick bite", as all meals take time. This is a positive as we saw it, but could be frustrating for someone with a less leisurely timeline. Rooms -- We were in the "Imperial Twin" room, which would be spacious even for four people. The beds are comfortable, hot water plentiful, and plenty of potable water provided. The rooms were very quiet at night making for good sleep and the wood stoves within the rooms added to the atmosphere. My daughters and I loved our stays at Hacienda Jimenita and recommend it highly.

Hacienda La Jimenita (named for the wife of the couple that owns this Hacienda) is just superb! What is not to love when you can take amazing hikes bordering an amazing canyon (La Quebrada Contadero) and then, grab a superb lunch surrounded by wilderness and birds of every kind singing a wonderful tune! We went for the day (we've done this twice) and the first time we entered their pre-Incan 100meter tunnel and exited in the canyon. We loved the unique experience and in my view, they don't advertise this enough! Second time we went and hiked around the property surrounding the canyon, wow! It's an intermediate hike and well worth it. The owner (The "Arquitecto" or short, "Arqui" was with us the whole way explaining what we were witnessing, the plants, the terrain, the birds, and certainly the canyon). We took photos on the new lookout platform over the canyon and they are amazing! And, the lovely part is that the food will not disappoint: it is well thought, well prepared and delicious. (And hubby is a Chef de Cuisine). Ask for the plates of the day (a three course meal well priced). Let them surprise you! Both owner are in the property, and this makes a huge difference in treatment. Go for the night (we have yet to do this but will soon) and let them surprise you with an amazing country-style breakfast. NOT TO BE MISSED IF YOU ARE IN QUITO (it's only 20minutes away).

We spent four days here. It's close to the airport but the property is so large and quiet it feels secluded. The staff were amazing, helping us get COVID tests as travel restrictions changed and arranging transportation. The property and rooms were so comfortable and relaxing!

We felt so very welcomed into this lovely hacienda! With just 15 rooms, all lovingly made by the owner/architect, Daniel, this place provided tranquility, delicious food, and well landscaped grounds and trails. We felt like home. The service was top notch. The staff so friendly and professional. The food was 4-star and well-priced. I totally disagree with the review by geoffn502. Yes there is a rooster and roosters crow. We had no problem with that. Our dinner, including appetizers and entre for two was less than $70, well priced, in fact, cheap relative to the amazing quality. Daniel, the owner, personally greeted us early on the morning of our departure with a nice packed "lunch" for our flight to the Galapagos. He exuded gentility and kindness. We like the place so much, that on our return route back to the states, we went back to La Jimenita for dinner. I cannot say enough good things about this lovely place. We will go back!

Just 15 minutes from the airport and in a beautiful setting in gardens, with hummingbird feeders and a nature reserve. I booked for one night with a birding tour. The arrangements were all arranged promptly with good clear details. As i exited customs my driver was there waiting for me with my name on a sign. My room was large and charming. Very well maintained. Well thought through and attractive. The bathroom was modern with plenty of hot water. I appreciated the attention that Hacienda Jimenita is taking to cut down on plastic waste. There was a jug of filtered water in the room and a machine close by to fill that and my water bottle. They provided fresh coffee to make in the room which was lovely. I had dinner and breakfast and both meals were excellent. Freshly cooked, beautifully presented. The chef came to see if everything was ok. The birding guides were excellent, professional and well organized. Hacienda Jimenita was a perfect place to stay for my first night in Ecuador. Especially as it avoids the tedious drive into Quito. Good wifi. Friendly efficient service
