Apulit Island was our first stop in Palawan and the location of the resort is an absolute place of serenity. The hotel is embedded into a private island with paradise landscape, rock formations and great crystal clear water right in front. They pick you up from El Nido airport and take you by car for 1,5 hrs to taytay and from there you take another 1hr boat to reach the island so its very secluded and away from the crowds.

The overwater rooms are very cute and were recently refurbished so they are now all white and in creme colors giving it a romantic touch. The rooms come with a terrace where we loved to sit and enjoy sunset. Its a very peaceful vibe around the hotel so great also for couples or groups or group of friends.
During the day you can enjoy the beach and lagoon, go around by kayak or go on some trips like snorkeling etc to nearby spots.
The pool area is also nice to hangout we met some super nice people from Israel there. Its a very chilled vibe around the island perfect to relax and unwind for a couple days.
Breakfast and dinner was buffet style and okay.

We had a great time on this beautiful island and would return any time :)

We had an awesome stay at this resort. The place was a small slice of paradise. Comfortable rooms, great food, nice beaches and beautiful waters. Here are some of the highlights and good tips.

First off, getting to Apulit was kind of a bear but not as difficult as we thought. We flew from Manila to El Nido, then drove from the airport to the dock and from there took a boat to the resort. Each leg of the trip took about 90 minutes. Personnel from the resort were at the destination airport to greet us, grab our bags and ensure a smooth travel process from El Nido to the resort. So if you're thinking about going to Apulit resort, just let the resort know when you fly in from Manila and they will take care of the rest.

All the condos are over the water during high tide. We stayed in one that had a back balcony that accessed directly to the bay. It was awesome. For these condos, you share a bay access point with your next door condo neighbor. It's more like a townhome because there is a shared wall. Noise from the neighbor was minimal.

Food was excellent. Big buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lots of food with decent variety. Plenty of fresh fruits. Tasty desserts. I would rate the food 4/5. Surprisingly good for buffet style on an island.

Staff was super friendly. They were accommodating and quick to help out when needed. No complaints here. Special shout out to Jon who helped Shari V when she got sick on the boat.

Overall, Apulit resort was fantastic. I would definitely repeat.

I was so excited with this trip to Apulit. I heard and read great reviews from various social media platforms. All my expectations were met, from the time of my arrival, the welcome song was done with so much enthusiasm that will truly make you feel that they were ecstatic that you were their guest. The place was truly breathtaking! The food agreed with my palate and the service delivered all the same from the heart. I will definitely return.

Gorgeous island and a 5 star property. The advantage of this side of El Nido (Taytay) is that there are no other resorts in the area. You are always alone on trips to small islands or diving. Water activities are easy, such as snorkelling, diving, kayaking, paddleboarding. There are also many on land activities, such as hiking, rock climbing. We stayed in the loft unit area. It was a nice run in the morning along the shoreline and into the west beach. The beach is deserted, just you and the nature.

Hi ek6va! Mayad na adlaw and warm greetings from El Nido Resorts! Thank you for choosing the Amazing Apulit Island as your holiday destination. It was our pleasure taking care of you and being part of your memorable stay at the most beautiful place in the world. We appreciate all your wonderful commendation, reviews and for taking time and effort to recount your experience in TripAdvisor. I would just like to take this opportunity also to inform you that the resort is not yet operational due to the pandemic. We were supposed to open this year unfortunately, we were not spared by the wrath of Typhoon Odette. We are now in the process of cleaning and rehabilitating the resort. Our 3 other resorts though are operational in a Travel Bubble set up and are accepting local tourists and foreigners who are based in the Philippines. You may visit our website - www.elnidoresorts.com for more information. Again, thank you very much and we are looking forward in welcoming you back to the Amazing Apulit Island Resort.

Before you book a trip to Apulit Resort, you should know that the 55 minute flight to the island from Manila, will be followed by a very rough 2 hour ride in a van on half paved and muddy roads, followed again by nearly two hours of boat ride to the resort. The photos look nice - the bungalows that are built over the water are old, the rooms small, and the bathrooms are approximately 35 sq.ft, hardly what you would expect from a "resort" that gets 5 stars! Are you kidding? The food was mediocre, the beach untended, at the time we were there, Dec. 26, we couldn't swim because the beach was rocky.
Booked to include "everything" but the canoe ride to the caves was "off season" the rock climb was too dangerous, the beach was not swim
able, so the only activity we could enjoy was snorkeling around the island. That was not bad. Asked to leave the day after we arrived. Wake up time was 4am, dep from the resort 5 am, arrival time at airport to take flight to Manila was 9am. If activities were off season, they should inform the guests prior to booking; more importantly they should tell everyone about the 4 hour tortuous trip to and from the El Nido airport. This information is VITAL to anyone making a decision to go or not to go!

Alpulit resort is located in a remote private island off the taytay coast. Unless you plan to book your stay and charted flight directly with them, i highly recommend not to stay here because this resort is incapable of handling booking via other ager.

After we had booking and fully paid for it via agoda, we follow Agoda guideline to call the resort and confirm our booking and boat transfer to the resort. We called a alpulit 3-4 times to confirm our booking, however each and every time a different story regarding our booking. one agent said booking is cancel, another say booking is missing and ask us to email the hotel voucher, We have to keep calling to chase for confirmation.

The day before our arrival, we made another call and the agent told us our booking is confirm and we have to wait at the tay tay port for the 3pm free boat ride.
We arrived the port, there is no boat to be seen. I called the office again and another agent told me that she can't find our booking (imagine how mad we are, we called less than 24 hrs ago to confirm our booking) and the boat will depart late at 3:30pm and we should just sit in the restaurant and wait. Nobody show up in the restaurant and its approaching 3:30pm. We have to ask the restaurant owner to help us find the person in charge. Thanks to the restaurant owner else we will be stranded in the port with no where else to go!

When we arrived and ask to speak to the GM and was told that he is on leave and another manager Rachel will speak to us. Instead of apologising and mending the bad situation, She instead pushing blame to the booking office and saying its not the resort are not responsible for booking. No apology or whatsoever from regarding the mishap that we have to go through.

The next day, we saw the GM (who supposedly on leave) greeting other guests during dinner time, and strangely only to table that have western guest or local Pinoy guest. He didn't bother to come and apologise or speak to us, in fact he didn't speak to anyone that is with asian face that doesn't speak tagalog.

Don't get me wrong, this is a beautiful island with gorgeous surrounding. But with the way you're treated and the amount you have to pay for it, its best to look else where.

We decided to take a vacation to Apulit Island Resort in May 2011 simply because it looked like a great place and we definitely were not disappointed! We had an amazing and relaxing time at this breathtaking island paradise. After our trip, I did an in-depth five-part review of our stay at the resort with lots of photographs on our blog:

http://johnnieandangela.blogspot.com/2011/05/apulit-island-resort-arrival.html
http://johnnieandangela.blogspot.com/2011/05/apulit-island-resort-amenities.html
http://johnnieandangela.blogspot.com/2011/05/apulit-island-resort-activities.html
http://johnnieandangela.blogspot.com/2011/05/apulit-island-resort-fooddrinks.html
http://johnnieandangela.blogspot.com/2011/05/apulit-island-resort-departure.html

Pros:
- The staff was incredible. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and always smiling.
- The water cottages were modern and comfortable.
- The resort was very clean and had a lot of environmentally friendly practices in place.
- The activities were easy to schedule, fun to do and almost all of them are included with the price of your stay.
- This was an amazing place for taking photographs. I had a camera with me at all times!
- The food was fresh and delicious and the drinks were heavenly.
- Although the resort is child friendly, it is more suited for a romantic getaway than a family vacation. There was only one older child there during our stay.
- There is nothing on the island besides the resort so it is secluded. There was no loud nightlife, no vehicles, and no one there except other guests and staff.
- The resort is small and therefore very personalized. We were always greeted by name.

Cons:
- There is a generator on the island to provide power and it hums constantly. I would equate it to the hum of the engines on a cruise ship. It did take away from some of the tranquility of the resort. Perhaps a sound barrier wall in front of the generator would help.
- Those darn tiny jellyfish that kept us out of the water for a day or two. However, the resort is not to blame for this as there was nothing they could do.
- Pancakes should be light and fluffy. The resort needs a new recipe.

We highly recommend this resort to individuals or couples looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway!

Apulit Review

Overall - 5
Service - 5
Accommodations - 4.5
Food - 5
Activities - 5

Highlights - If you read nothing else - Apulit is a gem, it was the highlight of a very long trip covering the Philippines and Japan. What sets this country and this resort apart are the people. Every employee went out of their way to make our stay a memorable one. Special mention goes out to Benji - he went above and beyond expectations on many occasions for us. Like Apulit, he's a gem of an employee, and helped make our stay a very special one.

This was our first time visiting Palawan or any of the El Nido Resorts properties. We went out of our way to coordinate our stay with ITI's flights from Manila. I'll breakdown all the different aspects of our experience in this review.

Booking - I booked through their site and their reservation staff. Overall the site works pretty well but if you ever have questions or need to make changes, the reservation staff is very helpful and easy to work with. The Philippines loves their paperwork and El Nido Resorts had a lot of paperwork that took some time for them to process. It's just par for the course.

ITI - We used ITI for our trip out/in MNL. ITI has its own terminal which can be a challenge if you are coming from another terminal but that's an issue regardless as this airport has many limitations. Every terminal has its challenges. Once you arrive at their terminal you're good to go. It's a small and private terminal with an efficient check-in process. They had assigned seats in the waiting area where they served snacks and drinks. Definitely more than I expected. ITI's planes are smaller and older. No frills but they are comfortable and get the job done.

Once we arrived at ENI airport, they had a very nice welcoming committee. There were lady's singing, resort guides to greet us, and tasty Pinoy treats and refreshments.

The transfer from the airport to the resort was all handled by the resort. There are 4 El Nido Resorts properties and you join your respective guides to your resort. Apulit is the furthest resort from the airport. It's about a 90 minute van ride then (depending on water conditions) 60-120 minute banka (boat) ride. Oh and they feed you again in the van, just in case you didn't eat enough at either of the airports. If you get motion sick, you must be prepared with motion sickness pills.

Apulit - Our ride to Apulit was choppy and we were a tad wet - this was all due to ocean conditions. It wasn't bad at all and part of the whole experience. Upon arrival - we were again serenaded and welcomed to the resort. Ms. Bel did a very nice introduction to the resort, activities, and helped us get situated in our room.

Rooms - We stayed in the Water Cottage, #37 to be exact. It looks exactly like their pictures with amazing views. These are nice and cozy rooms. I'm originally from the Philippines and these cottages are built using classic Filipino architecture. Floors, walls, and ceilings - it all reminded me of our family home. You don't go to Apulit to stay in your room. Given that, this room for a couple is just fine. There's enough shelf and cabinet space to make do. The bathroom is equally small and can use a refresh. At this price point, we felt that a higher quality mattress and pillows would be justified.

Activities - They've got a ton of things to do here - island hopping, snorkeling, scuba diving (extra fee), hiking, rock climbing, rappelling, and more. All of the activities are guided by their skillful and caring staff. We live in Hawaii and have experienced some pretty amazing reefs and sea life. The reefs and sea life at Apulit and surrounding islands were equally good compared to Hawaii. Different but definitely of high quality. In fact, the Apulit reef, especially the area off of the Double Water Cottages was excellent.

Scuba - Titing was a great scuba instructor. He's easily the happiest and most upbeat person at the resort. We never planned on scuba until Titing approached us about it. He was a great teacher- encouraging, very patient, and passionate about scuba.

Food - The food was great! In our 4 days at the resort, they did not repeat one entree. Even their breakfast was a full spread. I still dream about eating here again.

Staff - I waited a several weeks before writing this review and unfortunately forgot so many of the names but I remember all their faces. Everybody was truly great. They all cared about us and did what they could to provide a great experience.

The worst part of Apulit was leaving.

Last oct when we visited - on the way out to Apulit it was very rough and choppy due to a storm, however on the way back after a few days, very calm. So it depends on the time of the year and weather. But yes it can get choppy and with big waves.

Diving is great and so is the snorkeling. We did two dives during our stay and the best one was at the house reef-- saw lots of fish varieties including a giant grouper and two amazing feather stars. Dive master is very professional.

Do not bring pool mattresses. It's not worth packing something that dense on the weight-sensitive flight out to Palawan. If you can't pack it back home, do not leave big trash behind on a tiny island. The people we saw bring an air mattress to the pool barely used it.
