Detailed Reviews
A surprising enjoyable stay at Casa Rosa in laid back Taytay town. Cottages are set in a nice garden. They are huge according to philippinos standards, very comfortable with a double bed, large bathroom and a spacious private terrace overlooking the bay. There is a restaurant with a fantastic view serving a choice of breakfasts, as well as a menu card for those who which to have drink, lunch or dinner (last order 8:30pm). I recommend Casa Rosa which is a good option, especially the cottage. The place also proposes simple rooms but cottage are a far better deal for 200 pesos more.

We stayed at this hotel as a staging point for island hopping and dolphin watching with Malapaya Tours. It's very cozy and is frequented by locals which gives it a nicely authentic touch. It feels more like a restaurant with some rooms attached than the other way. The staff and the hotel manager are very friendly and helpful. We booked a bungalow, which is huge and has a nice porch to sit. The room was very clean and offers all basic amenities including ceiling fan and air conditioning only the hot water heater gave out on us (this is an issue we encountered in all our philippino hotels so far, so nothing new there). Our bungalow was situated right next to the restaurant's kitchen and had no blinds so we felt a bit exposed. The restaurant is the highlight of this hotel. We got to try a lot of delicious philippino dishes (try the minced meat rolled into lumpia leaf) while enjoying the beautiful view over Taytay's harbour and Fort Isabella.

Ate here a few times. Views are great over the harbour and fort. The staff are very friendly. Not 100% sure they understand. We asked for specific items on a pizza and got something else. Was a really bad vegetarian pizza... when we asked where the olives were for the pizza she replied yes, walked off and never returned....?

Response from Chelo Golo, Owner at Casa Rosa Inn and Restaurant
Responded Mar 5, 2022
Dear Aljax, I'm so sorry for your bad experience at Casa Rosa. This might have something to do with some staff have limited English. We are aware now of the vegetarian pizza problem and already change our recipe. your feedback helps us a lot to improve our food and service. So thank you very much.

Casa Rosa is a very pleasant place to stay overnight if you are in Taytay. It has a beautiful view from a high hillside with a cool breeze. Staff are very helpful and food is good. Unfortunately Casa Rosa is not on the beach so a longer stay is probably not likely. They do offer some interesting-looking trips in the surrounding areas, though, but we didn't try any.

+1
The cottages are lovely, decorated with a mix of ethnic and cottage-style decors. Each one had a little porch, lounge chairs and a hammock. The very clean room we got was spacious, had a sitting area and big queen-sized beds, which were uber comfy.
Views were amazing (sunsets, the bay, Fuerza de Santa Isabel, etc.) and the place had really gorgeous flowers lining the pathways.
The staff were friendly and helpful. They can also make arrangements for boat tours/island hopping, dolphin watching, and hikes.
No in-room WiFi, but a few steps away is the restaurant, where there was WiFi with decent speed. The staff were nice enough to keep it on all night when I had to work way past the restaurant's closing time.
One thing though - I wish they had a pool. There really isn't a good beach nearby for you to swim in.

This hotel have a nice view from our room and the restaurant. The room is very small, the linen is all worn out but clean, the bed foam mattress is worn need to upgrade. The place is full of ants where ever you look. Very untidy surrounding, the restaurant table cloth is full of ants and don't change it , it's a lot of food mark, I make a comment to the waitress, that they better taking off the table cloth if they can't afford to change it, is not a very appealing to all the guest. The staff friendly enough but slow, the restaurant food is ok, most of the food from menu is not available it's better just ask what available. This hotel only good for stop over between Puerto Princessa to El nido. It's nothing must to do there.

It's a beautiful place where you can eat great meals and also admire the beautiful landscape. We visited the fort and after we found this place! It's amazing and after we visit El Nido we'll surely stop on the way in Taytay to have another delicious meal. It's also easy to find the place and it has good music!

We were looking into staying somewhere in El Nico but were concerned about the possible 'bar scene' everyone was talking about. Taytay, and especially Casa Rosa, was exactly what we needed! Quiet garden surroundings, high up on a hill overlooking the ocean, non-intrusive but caring service by all the staff. We felt very relaxed and comfortable here.
The cottage we stayed in was one of the larger rooms. Although we booked the small cottage online, we were upgraded with no additional charge - thank you! It came with an outdoor sitting porch and chairs, a hammock, queen size bed with mosquito net, large bathroom with shower, and a sitting area inside. A constant breeze both day and night provided all the a/c we needed, as the property is a/c-free. Electricity from 6pm to 2am only. But we just made sure to plug in all our devices at night and the fans stopped working just as the wind blew stronger - no problems there!
We absolutely loved everything on the menu at their restaurant. I was feeling a bit gross from the plane, van and trike ride to get there, so I ordered chicken tinola and was immediately transported back to my childhood when our dad used to make us this traditional soup for his sick kids. That's what they serve here: real food that real people eat. Nothing fussy or overboard. Besides Filipino dishes, they also make legit creamy curry, schnitzel and chicken cordon bleu - amazing! Complete meals incl rice or potatoes of your choice, super reasonable, and great breakfasts. Since all our meals were taken there, we can confidently say we've tried everything and can recommend it ALL. Try their pizzas and alcoholic drinks - yummy rum & coke and mojitos. Simple and perfect desserts; fruits always fresh and available to be ordered separately.
Can't talk about Casa Rosa without talking about their tours. All tours incl snorkeling goggles, lunch and drinks, except the dolphin watching tour - it's super early! We chose the island hopping tour: elephant island and dinamayan private island. It's a flat rate for min. two people on a boat, so if you get more people on, even with the small extra charge, it comes out to be cheaper per person. Short walk(or trike ride) down to the port, hop on a banca, and in a little over an hour you reach elephant island and thereafter to the private island where Kuya Zaldy and his wife grill fresh fish and prepare a banana-leaf-topped table full of goodies: fresh coconut drink straight off the tree, mango juice, fish, rice, chicken adobo, salad, water. That's what we had - wonder what they'll prepare for YOU, hmm...? After lunch, a rest, a little snorkeling, we sunbathed for a couple hours, then, it was time to head back :(
During our stay we had a massage - it's an hour of bliss! So relaxing. And we took a tour of the old Spanish fort. It's 30 php for non-residents to enter, but u can stay as long as you like. Just keep in mind that the people here take siestas around lunch time - even the staff who man the fort! So, don't get locked in, like we did, and have to wake up one of the key-holders, haha! Motorbike rental can also be arranged by the staff. Not recommending taking a bike to El Nido, even tho it's closer than Puerto princesa. The roads are not finished yet and van drivers regularly speed!
Things to keep in mind: 1) Filipinos love karaoke, and taytay is no exception. The villagers take every opportunity to sing, and that means during the late evening when there's electricity available. So, bring earplugs. 2) the cottages are sreened-in, so there are minimal flying-bugs. But, it is still on garden grounds, so please expect ants running around the floor. Bring mosquito spray and don't eat in the cottages. 3) the hot water tank in our room was out of order, which was ok, we didn't need it. If, however, that is a must, inform the front desk right away before settling into your cottage :)
Promised to return here the next time we are in Palawan - thanks to the staff who took an interest in us and made us feel at home!!

Agree. I would consider Taytay for a short stopover, perhaps with some activities (Casa Rosa offers several tours) but not for being on the beach.
