If you want to have a holiday away from it all, then choose Backwater Breeze. The rooms overlooking the backwaters, the large sit-outs, topped up with homemade breakfast - just unbeatable. The cleanliness of the room and the toilets was of a very high standard. No disturbance from anybody, except the water birds and the procession of boats going up and down in the backwaters. Perfect place to unwind and recharge. Highly recommended.

Firstly, it is significantly cheaper than other accommodations in the region. And then comes the fantastic hospitality. For a solo traveler the space was fine. Even for a couple it should be fine for a night or two. The balcony is nice to stretch your legs. A/c worked well. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom small but adequate. Boats passing by all the time. Food can be ordered from the restaurant next door. Mr Varghese is such a nice person. Arranged everything for me. Boat ride ( with Justin) and a taxi to Kochi. Woke me up with coffee in the morning. Lovely simple hearty breakfast. Highly recommended.

For a true backwater experienced at a very reasonable price this is the perfect place to be at. Located strategically where the backwater meets the vembanad lake this home stay gives you a beautiful view from its spacious balconies. The rooms are air conditioned and comfy with all basic amenities such as wifi, hot water and cable available. The owner Ajiesh receives you with a warm welcome and is ever ready to help you out to make your holiday memorable. Boating on a traditional canoe can be made available if you know swimming and he also makes available a traditional line and hook if you want to try your hand at fishing. If you are lucky and land a catch then they also oblige by cooking it for you. Breakfast is provided and the other meals are as ordered. The food is delicious and always served hot. Overall a wonderful experience.

Location is beautiful, with great sunsets from a balcony looking across Lake Vembanad, and a couple of great seafood restaurants beside. However, the standard of the accommodation is poor. The shower drain was blocked, the light over the bed was broken but the manager could not fix it, the bed was very hard, there were very few furnishings in the room, etc.

I am really reluctant to write genuine reviews as the owner of this property is so nice. Owner and hes family was really nice and cooperative. Still I suggest to avoid this place. First thing the pics I saw on line were entirely different from the room we stayed. rooms were in bad shape. Backside of room was covered by shade to make it bathroom and Room Ac exhausts into the bathroom. Bed sheets and overall cleanliness was also not up to the mark. AC was not working so they chnaged the room. The room Ac connection was also loose so they finally directly connected the AC. There were no control AC panel. I felt like cheated.

This place worth not more than 500-600 INR per night that too for the nice man who owns this place. It is really a complete waste of such a nice location.

Response from Backwater Breez... K, Owner at Backwater Breeze
Responded Nov 20, 2018
We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed with your stay. As the host of this homestay, I used to interact with all our guest and I am reluctant to say that I couldn't recognise your stay with us. I believe that all of our guest were happy with their stay here and wish you reviewed here by mistake. If you stayed with us then you should know that this property is my home and the ground floor of the property is occupied by my family including my parents and our all 4 guest rooms are on the first floor of this property. Because of this same reason till date we never accommodate any bachelor's group or alcohol parties here. So please verify whether you stayed with us or some other property and remove this review from here. We will always try to go for all possible extend for our guest's satisfaction and it's really painful for us to know that any of our guest is disappointed with us. Kind regards, Ajish Varghese.

We stayed 2 nights here. The property is situated about a kilometre from the main road on the junction of a river and the lake. We stayed upstairs on the first floor with a balcony overlooking the river from which we watched the traffic on the water pass by us. The rooms are adequate and are cleaned daily. Breakfast is served on the balcony outside your room, so little chance to mingle with anyone apart from your immediate neighbour. This is a peaceful relaxing spot

There are 2 restaurants within a hundred metres, we only ate at one, twice! the food was excellent!!

All the rooms open onto a long balcony which looks out over the water.
a great place to sit and watch the boats go by.
Ajish and his family were friendly and very helpful - at 6 one morning he took us to the bird sanctuary and on the last day he took us to the ferry.
The breakfast was good and plentiful and we had a restful stay
There are two restaurants nearby and we would recommend the one by the shop.

This homestay has a superb location; it is on the junction of a waterway and the lake Vembanad. You sit in the small terrace in front of the room and you see small boats and houseboats going up and down in the waterway and on your right hand side the vast expanse of the lake Vembanad. A refreshing walk along the waterways and paddy fields in the morning is a must here!! The owner and manager Ajeesh is a polite and happy person. The food is served at a lake side open-air restaurant adjacent to the home stay! Eating at this restaurant itself is a terrific experience!! I cannot say enough about the mouth-watering food they serve here. The best traditional Kerala seafood we tasted was at this place. Their best preparation was ‘Karimeen Pollichattu’ & ‘Veluri fry’. Want to go back again and spend more time on the lake to watch the birds…Thanks Ajeesh for everything!

View of Vembanad Lake from Backwater Breeze is the selling point of the homestay.
Next is the ever smiling host, Mr. Ajish Varghese, who is always ready to help.

The place is a little far from main road & the approach road was under construction.
Take a sharp right after Kaippuzhamuttu Bridge & take the road parallel to the river.
Mr. Ajish came to main road to guide us to Backwater Breeze.
He even arranged boat ride for us and took us to the sunset point on the shore just opposite the homestay.

You can keep gazing at the lake and houseboats passing by.

They have a small restaurant & cooks are hard working.
