Hannah's Beach Resort and Convention Center is a seven (7) hectare property located in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. It is situated along the shores of the famous Blue Lagoon, a picturesque stretch of pristine white sand beach that is partially enclosed by a range of mountains and cliffs embracing the place forming into a cove that is a natural shelter of beauty and charm. The seabed is of fine sand on which you can stand still and enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the cove and even if you have treaded about 50 meters out at sea already, the water level is still at chest-deep. The amenities of the resort are mounted on a cliff adjacent to the beach providing visitors a spectacular view of the crystal clear blue water of the Blue Lagoon stretching out to the vast China Sea, amidst a backdrop of verdant mountains teeming with varied forms of vegetation and wildlife, and the clear skies in the horizon. Hannah’s was constructed in harmony with nature. Hannah’s successfully preserved the landscape, the trees, and natural vegetations and left the beautiful sceneries and serene atmosphere of its location untouched and unadulterated.

My sister-in-law wanted this resort out of all the resorts that we have been researching. Mainly because of the video on the resort's website - it was a segment on a lifestyle show featuring Pagudpud and Hannah's. It was really deceiving - you won't know that the beach is actually across a dirt road from this property. If you're staying in one of their villas, you have to go down the hill, cross the street to go to the beach area. After swimming, you would have to go up the hill to get to your villa. My kids hated going to the beach because of that. And so, we just swam in their pools instead. Rooms at their deluxe villas were bland - compared to the pictures shown on the website. We had to switch rooms the 1st time since the airconditioner was too noisy. My sister-in-law and her husband had to be switched rooms, too coz their 1st villa was fully of ants. It was our 3rd time (me and the kids) to go to Pagudpud but 1st time to stay at Blue Lagoon instead of Saud Beach. We had better experiences with resorts in Saud Beach, and with villas and cottages few steps away from the beach area. Stay away from Hannah's.

They charge way too much. Since what you would be paying does not include breakfast - you have no other choice but to eat at their cafeteria - which is a bit overpriced.

My stay here was really uncomfortable. It was a stormy night then so we have no choice but to spend most of our time at our room. Our phone was not working, so is our cable connection. So we needed to go outside, and asked someone from the cafeteria to call the people at the front desk to check our room. They fixed the cable connection, but not the phone lines - which made everything harder for us since if we are in need of something, we need to go out even if its raining.

And due to the heavy rain, we borrowed from their unorganized and cluttered pirated DVDs for movies to watch. To our dismay, when we borrowed the DVD player - it was not working properly. And since they did not fixed our phone connection, there's no way for us to call their front desk.

Their blankets are itchy - and their restrooms are not that great either. The only "good enough" thing about this resort is their pool. Everything else is just mediocre.

Not worth your money. Not worth your time. Look for some place else to stay.

If you want to have a vacation designed for torture, Hannah's is the place. We went during Holy Week on a P7500 a night per villa, only to find that they misrepresented a 20 sqm airless room as a villa. Room decor comes as mismatched beds in primary colors over floral tiles, accented by dusty plastic flowers. We are not allowed to bring food to the room, and can only eat outside in the concrete garage dining set! But to order and to eat a la carte in their restaurant, the only one in the whole area, is another torture episode. Food arrives one hour and a half after you order it. Not only is the food tasteless, but you have to commandeer a befuddled waiter to provide you with glasses and plates! There is a buffet but the meat smells rancid! When we tried to go to the buffet line, we were stopped becuase they wanted us to pay ahead, then hand over a payment "ticket" to the waitress! Such wondrous hospitality can only give you that soup kitchen feel or perhaps concentration camp canteen experience. Just to show how overpriced everything is, a half gallon of ice cream priced P220 in Manila costs P395 here. And the bill has sneaky insertions like french fries which we never ordered. If you survive the day, the best part comes at night. No ariconditioning in the Ilocos heat. It seems their generator broke down and they did not bother to provide backups even in the peak season. So be ready for asthma or heat strokes. Paying the hotel bill took an hour of inept computations by the listless though apologetic staff. Hannah's is just what you need for Holy Week reflection: you can join the Good Lord in His sufferings.
PS. Did they even pay for the fiberglass sculptures of Shrek, Anime, and Disney characters littering their yard? They are hideous scars on the otherwise beautiful Ilocos landscape.

Stayed there last june 2 and 3, 2012... Together with some friends... we saw the rate through their website, the price was php.4,000 deluxe room for 4. We confirmed by giving a call to the mobile number posted and it was really 4,000.. Pls. take note of the ff... before deciding to go this resort...
1. shuttles are overly charged... from laoag airport 2500. from pagudpod central 1000.
2. Uncourteous staff... not well oriented.. rude... It's like (take it or leave it thing).. like owing to them that we are being served... but we expect utmost courtesy.
3. The rate is tremendous... with very poor service... the room previously mentioned was already 5,200.. Just for the room for 4, with any complimentary breakfast.. or even transfers
4. They were actually portraying a 5 star status.. but then all guests are required to pay in every move... for example... use of gym equipment are charges 300 per half hour... And it was said that it was already redused form 600... "Can u imagine.... even 5 star resorts allows guests to enjoy it for free.."
5. Did we mention food... BTW, at hannah's. guests are not allowed to bring in any food.. for simple reason that they a restaurant... well understood.. But just to site some of the menu we ordered... Gosh! a rip off...
Filipino breakfast (Tocilog, Porksilog, etc) ----- 210pesos
Egg and Cheese sandwich ----- 180 pesos
Toppings with rice ----- 200 to 350 pesos
other somple meals ----- 300 to 500
American breakfast ----- 250 pesos
We are willing to pay for high priced items on the menu, provided service should be at par..
Ill mannered Servers... esp. when you are just local tourist..
6. we heard that it is owned by ret. col. Ricardo Nolasco Jr., well sir, i think you have to take a closer look at your business... U might one day be surprised that your multi million project would no longer be patronized... Not only because of High price... But you need to have a separate GM, and Human resource Manager for proper training of the staff..

Plus factor, nice life size statues for picture taking... Linens and mattresses are very comfy. but rooms and villas are just ok.. not that glamorous...

BTW, during our stay.. It coincided with the TEAM BUILDING event of PMPC. Phil. Movie press Club of the Phil... a sponsored stay by the resort management and some politicians... and days later, we read several articles... giving a hats off comment.... meaning top quality service... FYI, of course they will be served with utmost courtesy because they are from the Press..

But true and unbiased reviews are from paying guests like us...

For those planning to go to pagudpod beach... There are so many home stays available... or u couls consider, Puerto AZUL..(Not sure with the name, just beside hannah's), Kapuluan Vista , around 500 meters form Hannah's.. and other homestay houses...

We are frequent traveller... our stay in ilocos composed of 3d/2n at Fort Ilocandia... 2d/1n at CAsa Teofile Lodge (Budget Hostel... ok accommodation), 2d/1n at Hannah's (Gosh... all i can say....A WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME)_

BTW, they have day tour with swimming 200 pesos. and for tour and picture taking it's 50pesos..

Hope this review would help the resort check on their areas of improvement.. rather than taking this negatively...

Hannah’s “Hell Hole”. I booked a sea view villa at a cost of US$210 per night. I was surprised to be shown a room in a block of four, 3 meters x 5 metres containing two queen sized beds, a TV and a fridge with a shower room in corner. I could see the sea out of the window. No hot water in basin, no wardrobe, no desk, no coffee making facilities, no hair drier, no shampoo. Not even a holder for the toilet roll!!Furnishing the cheapest mixed rubbish I have ever seen in a hotel. No balcony or outside area. No way could be described as a Villa!!!!
After I complained I was moved to a unit with two adjoining rooms. Now I had four double beds , two fridges and a wardrobe. Restaurant is a canteen. Ordered banana splits – after 15 minutes we chased to be told they had no bananas. Breakfast next day looked OK but bacon, eggs and toast were all cold.
No evening entertainment.
Big notice at main gate that you could not bring in food and drink. Not sure then why I needed a fridge. Maybe it was to put my clothes in!
Staff were very good and patient listening to our complaints and when I checked out, refunded one day’s charge, for which I was very grateful. However this is a one star badly designed holiday camp Hell Hole, greatly over priced. A real rip off and certainly not worth driving all that way for.

This was once called 'Blue Lagoon' when I and friends and family came here a few years ago. It was a beautiful sight: pristine and almost untouched. There were not many facilities but that was the beauty of it. It reminded of beautiful Bali of yesteryears. Revisiting 'Blue Lagoon' this time early this month was a big mistake. The place was vandalised by a misguided developer. Although the roads leading to the resort was good, we were greeted by giant comic book characters, like the Fantastic Four' Marilyn Monroe,Elvis Presley, a Roman Centurion. I thought to myself 'Is this a joke? Why Hollywood themes? If I wanted to see these characters I would go to a Universal Studio. There is a lot of them. What were they thinking? Maybe they want this place for local consumption? None the less what they have done has traumatised me. The Blue Lagoon I knew has been replaced by plasticity. This would never make it in the international market for tourism. By the way the food at Hannah's Restaurant is poor in quality and the service is atrociously slow and the prices high. The owners of this resort should travel to places like Hawaii, Singapore, Australia (Sydney), Queenstown, New Zealand, to name a few places and learn about hospitality. What happened to the real Filipino hospitality? I would never recommend this place to an international traveler unless they want to have a laugh or just want to be stupidly curios.

The only redeeming quality about this farce of a hotel are their friendly and very accomodating staffs. We went to this place because I saw here at Trip Advisor that they offer free wi-fi and free breakfast; guess what? THEY DON'T! To top it off the room fee was waaaaay overpriced. I can get a hotel room here in Manila with the same price with the same amenities, a decent bathroom and bed! I am so dissapointed! If you are going to charge that much money make sure your guests get their money's worth! Who ever wrote the "FREE-WIFI & FREE-BREAKFAST" should take it down! There are small establishments around this huge dissapointment of a hotel, I highly suggest renting a room there instead.

I've never felt so unwelcome in a hotel/resort before until I came across Hannah's Resort. We arrived there around 2am, very tired from the long drive from manila. So, I went inside the reception and ask for the rates of the hotel then there's this receptionist that's very unenthusiastic and irritable showed me the paper where the prices are written. Honestly, i was very upset with this lady coz the last thing you would want to see was a rude person in front of you after a long and tiring day. She was upset about something and she even used the word "ano ba mga to adik" to her co workers, I mean that wasn't professional at all. I let it go since maybe she was just having a bad night, but when I tried to ask her again regarding the check-out time if its possible that we can do it until 1 pm,she just blurted out just 12 noon. Fine! She was getting into my nerves already and mind you she was not smiling at all. She treated us like a rubbish but since I'm in a vacation and I dont want to ruin the mood. I paid and left the reception area and finally got a fake smile. When we reached the cottage after just few minutes someone called it was the receptionist she asked how much did I gave her when i paid earlier I said the price and she said something like ah, ok. Then 30 mins later while we are already at verge of falling asleep she called us again. She said mam how much did you pay earlier, are you sure you gave me a thousand not 100 pesos? coz im 1000 peso short! She was irritatingly rude! That's the time a loose it. I can't believe she can talk to a customer like that. I asked her if they have security cameras maybe she can check on that, she said its not possible i even asked her do you know what time is it now its 3am now, have you ever realized that we are extremely tired and your calling me at this time twice because of that, why didn't you count properly and it seems to me your accusing me of something.
Then I put down the phone.
Regarding the place I didn't want to stay longer, the cottage was normal nothing special, the water from the faucet was not treated it tastes funny.

We spent two nights at this resort in January and there were 9 of us. Three of them were senior citizens and we stayed at a Family Executive Villa with an ocean view for 13,600+ a night. On this villa (rooms 28 and 29), there are 2 adjoining rooms with a door that connects it. Below are the things that we're not happy about:

* THE TWO TOILETS ARE SO BAD! The smell is so strong that my 2 kids don't want to get inside. It smells like a septic tank and it's very dirty. The sink is full of mould as well as the bathroom tiles. The bathroom door has been repaired and you can notice that they only use a PVC pipe to cover the hole on the door. Shower curtain is very old and dirty as well.

* Breakfast is not included.

* There are plenty of mosquitoes and flies inside the room and my wife even jump on top of me in the middle of the night because there was a cockroach on her bed.

* The mattresses is so hard. You felt like you are sleeping on an exercise mat put on a hard surface. This is the reason why I slept on the sofa bed.

* There are 2 fridges around 5 foot tall but you can't use it because they don't allow you to bring in any food.

* There is no coffee making facilities and no cabinet to put in your clothes.

* Towels are old and comes in different color. We have requested fresh towels the next day and they gave us clean white towels.

* The doors are not made properly and there are gaps where insects can come in especially there is no fly screen.

* The wall clock is NOT working!

* The infinity pool is right in front of our villa ( maybe 10 steps away) and we can't use it because it's dirty as well and there are dead flies floating in it. This pool should not be called infinity because it's just a normal pool. There are also white sun loungers around it but all those ones I've tried are broken. I'm 85 kilos and the back support can't hold me anymore. They need to be replaced. There is also a big banga pool not far from the not-so-infinity-pool but it was closed during our visit.

* The first time we tried their restaurant was also a disappointment. My brother's beer in a bottle came with a dead fly inside it and the food is so expensive. My plate and soup bowl have a writing that says 'THREESIXTY PHARMACY'. We preferred to drive at least an hour to Claveria, Cagayan to eat instead!

* You have to buy your coffee at this resort and as usual the price is too high. There is a small store right next to Hannah's restaurant where a cup of coffee will only cost you 15 pesos. You get a proper disposable coffee cup, a disposable plastic stirrer, hot water and a satchet of coffee.

* I do hope that the receptionist I spoke to in regards to this have informed her superiors for an immediate fix. Buy the way I was given a 20% discount voucher on my next visit.
