Diversified traditional food. Not too big of a place so we enjoyed the silence.
A car is a necessity for us and it was absolutely worth it because the hotel comes with free parking and is located perfectly to go on trips all around the island.
There is a small indoor and outdoor pool as well as a tiny jacuzzi.
The sunsets were amazing to watch while sitting on different types of lounge chairs etc.
We enjoyed playing billiard or table tennis as well as the fact that there was no "animation".
If we were to come back to madeira this will be our choice to stay.
Thanks to everyone of the do Campo family for making our vacation a wonderful experience.
The washroom didn't have a fan and it was very foggy in the room after the shower. The shower however was good, with nice water pressure.
We noticed that they cleaned the room daily and made our beds, but did not change the bed sheets and only occasionally changed the towels.
Breakfasts were included and the food was OK, but you get sick of the same menu after a while!
We stayed for a buffet dinner the 1st night, but figured that the food was not good and it was overprices, so we didn't go back there.
They do have 2 pools (inside and outside), but they are small and so is jacuzzi, which was not only tiny, but also cold.
So, overall it was OK, budget hotel. Nice and friendly staff.
Will do!
The room: oh boy...., this was not a 4 star hotel room, nowhere close. It needed badly reconstruction. We were given room for people on the wheelchair. (weird for us but ok, no problem) The furniture was looking rough and with old stains on the walls, bed and sofa. A/C was not working.... shower needed replacement. There was just no way to get water not scolding or cold :)
The bed mattresses was atrocious. This is obviously the reason why we had like 4 layers of sheets and cover on them when we arrived. The pillow also saw a better days. Dunno if it's the same in every room but it was rough sleeping in that room.
Generally cleanliness was ok, we got clean sheets and towels, but that was about it.
The food was ok. I liked dinners, good fish, local foods, every night different thing to eat.... but there is always the same thing for breakfast, which u will get sick of after a week. Some difference with hams, cheese, edible sausage or even change a bread for a once.
Next, for the love of god, stop using the pen and paper system to order drinks during the evening. You have fully booked hotel and 2 servers for the dinner. Few evening you can't even order since they are understaffed + server also was as bartender and cleaning tables.
Hotel has a pool and outside Whirlpool - they were best thing in the hotel by far.
The Game room is nice touch but you need to upgrade it from the y. 2000.
It was nice that receptionist were speaking French and German, but if you wanna speak english, well tough luck, better hope someone else comes to the hotel on the night shift.
Enormous amount of wasted potential. Either by lack of foresight and just owners don't wanna invest into the hotel.
The location of the hotel is very good for exploring the southern and western sides of Madeira and the central part such as the Nun Valley.
The room is big and clean. The area is very quiet. The pool is also nice.
Breakfast includes many different foods, sweets, fruits, ....
The staff is very friendly and provides all the necessary information.
We had a rental car. Maybe the access to the hotel is a bit demanding, but a large parking is really a good thing in Madeira.
We spent some really beautiful days in this hotel.
Tips: When booking must ask for sea view room😉
Greetings to whole Do Campo team.
