This hotel is in Ribeira Brava a short drive from Funchal the capital. We booked it hoping for some quiet in the evening instead of staying in the capital city where the hustle and bustle was not for us. This hotel did not fail in providing a quiet place to sleep. The rooms were quiet and quite comfortable. The staff was very good and most spoke English with the young lady at the reception desk able to understand what we wanted, she had a good command of the English language. The breakfasts were very good and the staff in that area could not do enough to help you with any problem you had. The rest of the staff was the same and did a good job of keeping the rooms in order. Although it is hard to find (as a lot of the places were) it is "surprise" on the side of a hill. We would definitely visit this hotel again if we are ever in the area. Just having a peaceful sleep is worth the 15 minutes to the capital Funchal. Visiting Funchal for a day to ride the cable cars we knew we made the correct decision about a place to stay. Although we did not use it because we like to explore the island, most people took advantage of the pool and it seemed very clean and well cared for. The breakfast was very good with many choices. Nothing compares to the view from our room. A dfinite come back to if we are ever there again.

We loved the location! The staff was super friendly, rooms were clean and spacey with nice balcony and amazing view.
Diversified traditional food. Not too big of a place so we enjoyed the silence.
A car is a necessity for us and it was absolutely worth it because the hotel comes with free parking and is located perfectly to go on trips all around the island.
There is a small indoor and outdoor pool as well as a tiny jacuzzi.
The sunsets were amazing to watch while sitting on different types of lounge chairs etc.
We enjoyed playing billiard or table tennis as well as the fact that there was no "animation".
If we were to come back to madeira this will be our choice to stay.

Thanks to everyone of the do Campo family for making our vacation a wonderful experience.

We stayed at this hotel for a week. It was nice and clean thru out. Simple amenities, nothing fancy. The size of the room was good and balcony with the view on the ocean added its charm!
The washroom didn't have a fan and it was very foggy in the room after the shower. The shower however was good, with nice water pressure.
We noticed that they cleaned the room daily and made our beds, but did not change the bed sheets and only occasionally changed the towels.
Breakfasts were included and the food was OK, but you get sick of the same menu after a while!
We stayed for a buffet dinner the 1st night, but figured that the food was not good and it was overprices, so we didn't go back there.
They do have 2 pools (inside and outside), but they are small and so is jacuzzi, which was not only tiny, but also cold.
So, overall it was OK, budget hotel. Nice and friendly staff.
Will do!

Location is fine, its quiet on the hill, overlooking the ocean. Would be nice to mention that the main road to the city is closed so you need to go around which is about half and hour walking. Or I would expect to find this information at least on the reception.

The room: oh boy...., this was not a 4 star hotel room, nowhere close. It needed badly reconstruction. We were given room for people on the wheelchair. (weird for us but ok, no problem) The furniture was looking rough and with old stains on the walls, bed and sofa. A/C was not working.... shower needed replacement. There was just no way to get water not scolding or cold :)

The bed mattresses was atrocious. This is obviously the reason why we had like 4 layers of sheets and cover on them when we arrived. The pillow also saw a better days. Dunno if it's the same in every room but it was rough sleeping in that room.
Generally cleanliness was ok, we got clean sheets and towels, but that was about it.

The food was ok. I liked dinners, good fish, local foods, every night different thing to eat.... but there is always the same thing for breakfast, which u will get sick of after a week. Some difference with hams, cheese, edible sausage or even change a bread for a once.

Next, for the love of god, stop using the pen and paper system to order drinks during the evening. You have fully booked hotel and 2 servers for the dinner. Few evening you can't even order since they are understaffed + server also was as bartender and cleaning tables.

Hotel has a pool and outside Whirlpool - they were best thing in the hotel by far.
The Game room is nice touch but you need to upgrade it from the y. 2000.

It was nice that receptionist were speaking French and German, but if you wanna speak english, well tough luck, better hope someone else comes to the hotel on the night shift.

Enormous amount of wasted potential. Either by lack of foresight and just owners don't wanna invest into the hotel.

Chose this hotel for the location which is quiet with a good view of the sea. However the hotel rooms need refurbishing, the mattresses are rock hard and you get one tiny pillow. The doors to the balcony are loose and when the wind blows, it whistles through and they move so that makes for a terrible nights sleep. My tip: ALWAYS take ear plugs on holiday!! One of the lamps didn’t work next to the bed and we had 3 hangers between us. I asked housekeeping and reception for more hangers which didn’t appear, and forget about having a bath as there is no bath plug! Breakfast is ok, it’s nothing to get excited about and this hotel is not one I would recommend unless you enjoy hearing doors slam A LOT!!

The hotel was a bit shabby, the towels and sheets had stains in them which was disgusting. We also had ants in our room, every day in different spots. The room had dust in corners and even some dust bunnies. The worst part was the service, it started on our first day when we tried to check in but we couldn't find anyone at the front desk or reach them by giving a call or ringing the door bell. We walked down the halls to find a cleaner that went upstairs to get someone to the front desk. Second day the cleaner shut down electricity from our room which turned the fridge off of and our yougurts were ruined. I tried to make sure that it won't happen again but a rude lady at the front desk said that fridge is not for foods because food should be bought from their snack bar. I contacted our travel agency and they called the hotel, after that other worker came to say that fridge will be on also during the days. Also the bar was a disappointment, especially lack of Engish speaking waiter. I ordered a salad with roasted pumpkin but they serve salad without any pumpkin. It was a big hassle with 3 waiters that spoke English just a little bit, they just tried to tell me something in Portuguese/Spanish (I don't understand a word). They brought another salad and tried to replace the missing pumping with carrot. I just wanted the salad removed from the check as they couldn't serve according to what I ordered, but the communication didn't work so I had to go to the front desk to make it happen.

The hotel is on a hill with a very nice view of the ocean.
The location of the hotel is very good for exploring the southern and western sides of Madeira and the central part such as the Nun Valley.

The room is big and clean. The area is very quiet. The pool is also nice.

Breakfast includes many different foods, sweets, fruits, ....

The staff is very friendly and provides all the necessary information.

We had a rental car. Maybe the access to the hotel is a bit demanding, but a large parking is really a good thing in Madeira.

We spent some really beautiful days in this hotel.

Superb! Very nice and helpful staff, friendly, forgiving, they do the best for you to have best holidays. Good cuisine (especially fishes), great view, great ambient, without loud music nor animations. Rooms are clean and everyday cleaned (too often).
Tips: When booking must ask for sea view room😉
Greetings to whole Do Campo team.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The room was well presented and had a lovely view over the balcony. The bathroom was clean and towels were provided everyday. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very nice. However the evening meal is hit and miss. We liked some dishes more than others. We didn’t hire a car but there is a foot path from the hotel down to the town and buses come quite frequently to Funchal. The town below the hotel is lovely and a nice area to explore. Would recommend a stay in this hotel.

Our first holidays in Madeira in this hotel. I can only recommend hotel Do Campo. Employees are very kind and helpful, served food is really delicious. Rooms are big enough and location is perfect to make trips around the island by car. Thank you and I hope we will come back.
